2011年高考试题—英语听力(福建卷)录音稿1.W: Jack, how do you like the play?M: It’s a simple story with a happy ending, but, luckily, they had a very strong actor, he managed to carry the whole play.2.M: Have we missed it? The man said it’s only five blocks away opposi te the bank.W: Wait a minute, the Chinese restaurant, the national bank, there it is, the Radisson Hotel.3.M: Let’s meet at 20 to 5.W: Well. Could we make it 20 past 5?W: That’s a bit late for me. I could manage 10 past.M: OK. See you then.4.M: What time are we leaving for the outing?W: I’ll phone you tomorrow. I should have everything sorted out by then.5.W: Thanks for all y ou’ve done for me. Hey, listen, would you like to go to see a film sometime? M: Yeah, that’d be great. I’d love it.6~7W: Hey, where is everybody?M: They took Ben to the park. Where have you been?W: Sorry, I’m late. I picked up the cake and it took me l onger than I expected. When will the party start?M: Ben invited eight children from school. And they’ll arrive at about 2 in the afternoon.W: OK. Then I’ll put the candles on the cake and leave it in the kitchen and then I’ll come and help set the table.8~9M: So, Macy, how was your holiday?W: Oh, we loved it. Tom liked Germany best, but France was my favorite.M: So did Rachael finally go with you?W: No, she wasn’t ab le to. She was called away for a business trip to China.M: That’s a pity. So where exactly did you go and visit?W: Well, we traveled all over, Italy, Spain and Holland; we even bathed in a Swiss lake.M: You did, really?10~12W: Bob, I’m sure you know about second-hand smoke.M: Of course, I do.W: But have you heard about third-hand smoke?M: Third-hand smoke? I’m afraid not. What is that then?W: Well, it is here in today’s paper. Parents may think they are protecting children from second-hand smoke when they smoke outside their home or only when the children are not there. But now researchers are warning about what they call third-hand smoke. When you smoke dangerous matter from cigarettes get into your hair and clothing. As babies are the weakest, when you come to a baby, you pass it to the baby and increase the chances of disease in the baby.M: Is that so? In that case I have to say that I should never get close to a baby.W: That’s right. Actually all smoking parents should do the same or better give it up completely. 13~16M: Hello, welcome to our program “Today City”. I’m Larry. We’re going to Louisville Kentucky where our guest Michelle Ray comes from. She is proud of her middle-sized city with a small town feel and big city dreams. Now, Michelle, tell us about your city.W: Thank you, Larry. Here is my city. Louisville is my city. The first place I take visitors from out of town is to the Highlands for shopping and night life. When I have delicious Asian food I always go to the Zen Garden which provides wonderful all vegetable dishes.M: Wow, that’s interesting. Many people go for healthy food now.W: You can say that again. If I want to go camping and fishing, I go to the Red River area. For complete quiet I can hide away in my house with a good book from one of our public libraries. M: That all sounds very exciting. I’m sure some of our listeners will include Louisville in their travel plan for their next holiday. Thank you, Michelle.17~20M: We are glad to have Dr. Garfield to talk to us today about dreams. Let me start by asking the first question. Does everyone dream?W: It appears that everyone does. Mostly when people say that they never dream, what they really mean is that they don’t remember their dreams or they don’t think their dreams are important. The reason behind is that they might have been made fun of with a child when they first reported their dreams or it was so frightening that they just turned off dreaming completely. The other day, someone named Davis came to me and said that he used to be a great dreamer, but suddenly he stopped having dreams. I asked him what it happened. It turned out that his brother died by heart attack and he never expected that such a terrible thing would happen to a young person. Generally, when there was some frightening event and dream about it was too terrible. People prefer not to dream about it. Actually the worst thing you can do is stop dreaming. Because it means that the bad experience would be too painful to even appear in dreams. As long as you dream about it and even the dream is frightening, your mind is working on it. My personal opinion about what dreams do is that they help us deal with our problems. We see certain patterns take place in dreams. When a person is hurt deep inside, when a person is seriously ill or when a person has been really sad, if people turn off their dreams totally, it means they don’t love themselves to even think about it.。

福州市2011—2012学年第一学期期末高三质量检查英语听力材料Text 1M: Thank you, Anna, for inviting us to such a great dinner. Y ou must have spent all day cooking.W: Oh, my pleasure. But it really only took an hour.Text 2M: I'm going for pizza after class, wanna join me?W: I'd love to, but I promised to help my roommate with her science project. Maybe next time. Text 3W: I still can’t believe it! I’ve never won anything before!M: I’m so jealous—front row seats! And you don’t even really like her that much.Text 4M: Hey, what are you doing? That’s my . . . oh, my bad. Sorry, it looks just like mine.W: Don’t tell me you chose pink?M: No, it’s my mom’s. She let me drive it today because it’s raining.Text 5M: I can’t wait till next Friday!W: Why? It’s just like every ot her Friday — four hours of special math and English classes after school.Text 6W: Did you see what Jenny's brought back from Hong Kong?M: I sure did. She forgot to turn it off before physics. I thought Mr. Smith was going to take it from her and throw it out the window!W: Her mom would have been so angry if she'd lost it on the first day.M: Nah, her mom has so much money; she'd just have bought her another one.W: Probably, but I don’t think her mom would make a special trip to Hong Kong just to buy her a new one. It’s still not available in Beijing.Text 7M: Hey, Ann! Can you believe it’s already Thanksgiving?W: Yeah, Bill, I know! Where did the year go?M: So, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? You’re from back east, aren’t you? Are you going home?W: Well, I was going to go home. My family is all in Connecticut. Unfortunately, I didn’t buy my ticket before the prices went up; now, I can’t afford to. So, I guess I’ll just find a restaurant that’s open and serving turkey.M: Don’t do that! Come to our place. W e’ve got plenty of food. Plus, my wife and I really want you to meet her younger brother.W: Younger brother? Hmm, w hat’s he like?M: Tall, dark, and handsome, naturally! No, really, he’s a year younger than my wife, finishing up med school, and a truly great guy —lots of fun. I’m sure you’ll like him.W: Well, I guess it would be all right. I do like your wife, so her brother can’t be too bad. Okay, yes, thanks. I’ll come. What time and what can I bring?M: We’re eating at 4:00 p.m., but feel free to come any time after 1:00 p.m. W e’ll be watching the game. Oh, and don’t bring anything. We have more than enough already! See you Thursday!W: Right, see you Thursday!Text 8W: I think I’ll get a cat.M: What? A cat? Why a cat? Dogs are much better.W: No way. Dogs are nice, but you have to get up early to walk them, then walk them some more when you get home from work, and then walk them yet again before bed. Plus, you have to carry plastic bags and scoop up the poop! Ugh!M: Okay, but with cat s you still have the litter box to clean. And they don’t always come when you call them. In fact, they usually go the other way!W: Not Siamese. They are a little like dogs. They come when you call them, usually. And they like to play fetch. Some have even been trained to use the toilet.M: No way! Really? Well, it sounds like you’ve made up your mind and you almost have me convinced to get one, too!Text 9M: So, tell me Marci, when did you first want to become an astronaut?W: Well, Dan, I think I fell in love with the stars during my first camping trip. I was about four. My parents decided that we’d go camping for our vacation that year. They bought a big family tent, a small tent for my older brothers, a cook stove, everything for a great adventure. Then, we headed off to the coast. My folks chose a beautiful campground at the ocean. After we set up camp, my brothers and I ran up and down the beach flying kites, built sand castles, and jumped the waves. We had so much fun, but what I loved more than anything else was when it got dark and the sky would slowly fill with hundreds and thousands of tiny sparkling lights. They looked like diamonds! I wanted to get close to them, to touch them. And now I finally am, well, getting closer to them anyway.M: Yes, you certainly are. Well, we all wish you a successful flight and will watch you as you lift off next week. You’ll have to come back and tell us what it was like when you return.W: Thank you, Dan. I’d be happy to.Text 10Of course, your trip to Beijing wo n’t be complete if you don’t bring home some tea. The best place to buy tea and experience Chinese tea culture, is to take a taxi or bus to MaLianDao street or Tea Street. Buses 46, 414, and 609 stop near the south end of the street. Although normally tea can only be purchased in the region in which it is grown. For example, Dragon Well tea is grown and sold in Hangzhou. However, on Tea Street the best tea from every corner of China is available. Here you will find many small family-run tea stalls and several large buildings filled with tea shops. Every one of the shops will invite you to sit down and slowly sample their teas. They will explain the similarities and differences, why and when a particular tea is meant to be drunk, how many times you can use the leaves, what temperature the water should be — everything you need to know in order to enjoy a good cup of tea. Some shops will specialize in teas from just one region; others will carry only one kind of tea — green, black, white, or pu’er- — from all regions; while others still will carry just the top quality of all teas. You can buy every type of tea accessory, teacup, and teapot here, too. You could spend an entire day just visiting one or two shops!。

I'm looking for paper on which to note down the name of a book I am recommending to my mother. Over forty years since my earliest memories of the kitchen pad and pencil, five houses later, the current paper and pencil look the same as they always did. Surely it can't be the same pencil. The pad is more modern, but the wooden stand is definitely the original one. "I'm just amazed you still have the same stand for holding the pad and pencil after all these years." I say to her, walking back into the living-room with a sheet of paper and the pencil. "You still use a pencil. Can't you afford a pen?" My mother replies a little sharply. "It works perfectly well; I've always kept the stand in the kitchen. I never knew when I might want to note down an idea, and I was always in the kitchen in these days. " Immediately I can picture her, hair wild, blue housecoat covered in flour, a wooden spoon in one hand, the pencil in the other, her mouth moving silently. My mother smiles and says, "One day I was cooking and watching baby Pauline, and I had a brilliant thought, but the stand was empty. One of the children must have taken the paper. So I just picked up the breadboard and wrote it all down on the back. It turned out to be a real breakthrough for solving the mathematical problem I was working on." This story, which happened before I was born, reminds me how extraordinary my mother was, and is also a gifted mathematician. I feel embarrassed that I complain about not having enough child-free timeto work. Later, when my mother is in the bathroom, I go into her kitchen and turn over the breadboards. Sure enough, on the back of the smallest one, are some penciled marks I recognize as mathematics. Those symbols have traveled unaffected through fifty years, rooted in the soil of a cheap wooden breadboard, invisible exhibits at every meal. 51. Why has the author's mother always kept the notepad and pencil in the kitchen? A. To leave messages. B. To list her everyday tasks. C. To note down math problems. D. To write down a flash of inspiration. 52. What is the author's original opinion about the wooden stand? A. It has great value for the family. B. It needs to be replaced. C. It brings her back to her lonely childhood. D. It should be passed on to the next generation. 53. The author feels embarrassed for____________. A. blaming her mother wrongly B. giving her mother a lot of trouble C. not making good use of time as her mother did D. not making any breakthrough in her field 54. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. The mother is successful in her career. B. The family members like traveling. C. The author had little time to play when young. D. The marks on the breadboard have disappeared. This passage is basically a letter of _____.A. introductionB. congratulationC. thanksD. invitation C Here below we will talk about the American expressions using the word “Dutch”. Many of the “Dutch” expressions heard in American English were first used in England in the seventeenth century.Britain used to be called “empire on which the sun never sets”,which gained its supreme(至高无上的)power mostly by its naval(海军的 )military forces. The period of the Anglo-Dutch Wars was a time of fierce naval competition between England and the Netherlands. At that time, the British used “Dutch”as a word for something bad, or false, or mistaken. A “Dutch agreement” was one made between men who had drunk too much alcohol“Dutch courage” was the false courage produced by the effects of drinking alcohol. And “Dutch leave” was what a solider took when he left his base(基地)without permission. Some of these old expressions are still used today with a little different meaning. “Dutch treat”is one example. Long ago, a Dutch treat was a dinner at which the invited guests were expected to pay for their own share of the food and drink. Now, Dutch treat means that when friends go out to have fun, each person pays his own share. Another common expression heard a few years ago was “in Dutch”, which simply referred to the country then. Nowadays, if someone says to you, you are in Dutch, they are telling you that you were in trouble. An important person, a parent or teacher perhaps, is angry with you. Some of the Dutch expressions heard in American English have nothing to do with the Dutch people at all. In the 1700s, Germans who moved to the United States often were called Dutch. This happened because of mistakes in understanding and saying the word “Deutsch”, the German word for German.Families of these German people still live in the eastern United States, many in the state of Pennsylvania. They are known as the Pennsylvania Dutch. During the American Civil War, supporters of the northern side in the central state of Missouri were called Dutch, because many of them were German settlers In California, during the Gold Rush, the term Dutch was used to describe Germans, Swedes, and Norwegians as well as people from the Netherlands. President Theodore Roosevelt once noted that anything foreign and non-English was called Dutch. One expression still in use, “to talk to someone like a Dutch uncle”, did come from the Dutch. The Dutch were known for the firm way they raise their children So if someone speaks to you like a Dutch uncle, he is speaking in a very severe way. And you should listen to him carefully. 58. According to paragraph 1, the British used “Dutch” as a word for something bad and mistaken because ___________. A. it was the long-lasting habit of the British language. B. the Netherlands was the closest rival(竞争对手) for naval supremacy then. C. there was a close connection between “Dutch” and “Deutsch”. D. anything foreign and non-English was called “Dutch”. 59. Most probably, a man with Dutch courage would _________. A. invite his friends to dinner. B. beat a strange passer-by without any reason. C. speak to a Dutch uncle. D. become angry with the teacher. 60. Which one of the following has nothing to do with the Dutch? A. The expression “to talk to someone like a Dutch uncle”. B. When friends go out to have fun, they choose Dutch treat. C. Germans who moved to the United States were called Dutch. D. A solider took “Dutch leave” during wars. 61. What is mainly talked about in the passage? A. Language causes of the Anglo-Dutch Wars B. Language of the Netherlands C. Deutsch VS Dutch D. Dutch expressions in American English D The fictional Chinese-American detective Charlie Chan was the subject of popular books and moviesfor many decades. In recent years, however, the character has been criticized as an ill image of Asian-Americans. Yunte Huang, an English professor at the University of California, says that’s not the case. He has been exploring the character and real-life policeman who inspired him. Charlie Chan has been a familiar character to readers and film-goers, beginning in the 1920s. The detective solved crimes around the world in more than 40 films through the 1940s, and with the invention of television, found a new audience in the 1950s and 1960s. Huang discovered Charlie Chan through books by American author Earl Derr Biggers, who created the character. “One day, I happened to find two Charlie Chan novels. At that point I thought I knew that he was a negative character against Asians, but when I read the book,” he says, “I was immediately attracted. Ever since then, I’ve been a fan of Charlie Chan.” As a fan of the books and films, Huang was surprised to learn that Charlie Chan was based on a real detective named Chang Apana, who was born to Chinese parents in Hawaii around 1871. Apana worked as a cowboy, and joined the Honolulu police force in 1898. “He almost immediately became a local legend because as a former cowboy,” says Huang, “he would walk the most dangerous areas in Chinatown carrying a bullwhip(皮鞭)instead of a gun. He didn’t need that.” Although some say the image of Charlie Chan, with his broken English, is embarrassing for Asian-Americans, Huang believes Chan’s broken English and unusual ancient sayings were part of his charm(魅力). “Let me just quote(引用)a few ‘Actions speak louder than French,’ or ‘Mind like parachute (降落伞). Only function when open.’ Charlie Chan always owes these instructive sayings to Confucius’eastern wisdom. For Huang, the fictional Charlie Chan is highly entertaining, while the real-life policeman, Chang Apana, is a Chinese-American success, whose story is worth telling. 62. The passage mainly talks about ______________. A. how Yunte Huang discovered Charlie Chan B. how Charlie Chan became famous in the US C. what Yunte Huang thought of Charlie Chan D. how a cowboy became a famous detective 63. According to the passage, we know that Charlie Chan __________. A. was a character in books and movies based on a real detective B. was a famous actor starring in movies beginning from the 1920s C. was a famous detective solving crimes all over the world D. was a Chinese immigrant who became a local legend 64. Chang Apana didn’t need a gun as a weapon because__________.A. he had his personal charmB. he liked being a cowboyC. he was not a true policemanD. a bullwhip was more useful 65. It can be inferred from the passage that ________. A. American author Earl Derr Biggers gave an ill picture of Asian-Americans B. Yunte Huang believes Charlie Chan represents Asian wisdom in some way C. Chan’s story was more popular with TV audience than readers and film-goers D. Charlie Chan became an ill image of Asian-Americans when it first appeared. E For high school leavers starting out in the working world,it is very important to learn particular skills and practice how to behave in an interview or how to find all internship(实习).In some countries, schools have programs to help students onto the path to work.In the UnitesStates, however, such programs are still few and far between. Research shows that if high schools provide career-related courses, students are likely to get higher earnings in later years. The students are more likely to stay in school, graduate and go on to higher education. In Germany, students as young as 13 and 14 are expected to do internships.German companies work with schools to make sure that young people get the education they need for future employment. But in America, education reform programs focus on how well students do in exams instead of bringing them into contact with the working world.Harvard Education school professor Robert Schwartz has criticized education reformers for trying to place all graduates directly on the four-year college track.Schwartz argued that this approach leaves the country’s most vulnerable(易受影响的)kids with no jobs and no skills. Schwartz believed that the best career programs encourage kids to go for higher education while also teaching them valuable practical skills at high school.James Madison High School in New York, for example, encourages students to choose classes on career—based courses. The school then helps them gain on—the-job experience in those fields while they’re still at high school. However, even for teens whose schools encourage them to connect with work, the job market is daunting. In the US,unemployment rates for 16-to 19-year-olds are above 20 percent for the third summer in a row. “The risk is that if teenagers miss out on the Summer job experience, they become part of this generation of teens who had trouble in landing a job,”said Michael,a researcher in the US.66. In the author’s opinion, American high school leavers__________. A. have enough career-related courses B. need more career advice from their schools C. perform better in exams than German students D. can get higher earnings in later years 67. According to Robert Schwartz,_________. A. there is no need for kids to go for higher education in the US B. students should get contact with the working world at high school C. education reform should focus on students’ performance in exams D. teenagers in the US can’t miss out on the summer job experience 68. What can be inferred from the text? A. Unemployment rates for US teenagers remain high at the moment. B. Students with career—based courses never have problems finding a job. C. US companies work with schools to prepare young people for future employment. D. High school leavers with no practical skills can’t find a job absolutely 69. What’s the main idea of the text? A. Arguments about recent US education reform. B. Tips on finding jobs for high school leavers. C. The lack of career—based courses in US high schools. D. Advice for American high school leavers. 70.The underlined word “daunting” in Paragraph 6 most probably means___________.A. discouragingB. interestingC. creativeD. unbearable 第二卷 (计分:50分) 注意:本卷答案一律写在答题纸上,请看清题号作答。
