Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge Objects

2. Ability Objects:
(1)Talk about the subjects which Ss like and give reasons.
(2)Talk about other things such as food, city, sport, movie …which Ss like and give
reasons.
Teaching Key Points
(1)Have a good grasp of the ways of expression about Ss’ favorite subjects.
(2)Master and make full use of some describing adjectives and talk about the reasons Ss’
likes and dislikes.

(1)The meaning and pronunciation of describing adjectives about subjects,
(2)The usage of personal pronouns and possessive pronouns.

Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Review (About 5 minutes)
Ask and answer:Talk about the sports.

3. What kind of sports do you like? In this way, we can begin our new lesson.
Step 2 Lead-in (la) (About 5 minutes)
Ask the students to tell what they see in each picture. Guide them to understand that
each picture shows a different class in school.

History
Art.
My favorite subject Music.
P.E..
Biology.
Politics
Handwriting.
Geography.
Computer.
Encourage the students to answer the questions repeat. Write the vocabulary on the
blackboard ask the students to repeat.
Then ask the students to match the words with pictures.
Finally check the answers.
Step 3 Listening (lb) (About 4 minutes)
We have many different subjects everyday. Now Let’s listen to the tape and circle the
subjects in la. Play the recording twice, for the first time, only listen, for the second time,
circle the subjects you hear.
Step 4 Practice (lc) (About 8 minutes)
Ask the students to work in pairs with their, partners, then make their own conversations.
For example:
—What’s your favorite subject?
—My favorite subject is …
Step 5 Listening (2a) (About 3 minutes)
Play the recording, let students just listen and try to understand what’s the conversation
talking about. Then, play the recording again, ask the students to put the conversation in

In the conversation, people talk about school subjects. Listen and match the subjects you
hear with the descriptions.
We can only match two items according to the tapescript.
Step 7 Pair work (2c) (About 6 minutes)
Now please make a conversation using the information in 2b. Ask some pairs to make
conversations in front of the class. Pay attention to the description words. For example:
A:What’s your favorite subject?
B:Art.
A:Why do you like art?
B:Because it’s interesting and relaxing.
Step 8 Role—play (2d) (About 9 minutes)
First read the conversation. Second retell the conversation according to the key words
(how—OK —Monday—have—favorite, who—play games, why, boring—interesting,
favorite day—why—next—for sure). Then role-play the conversation in pairs.
Step 10 Homework (About 2 minutes)
Write a short passage.
Now please write a short passage about your parents’ hobby.
e. g. : My father’s favorite food is noodles.
He likes sports very much.
His favorite sport is basketball.
His favorite color is orange.
He lives in Taiyuan.
His favorite city is Taiyuan.
