毕业文凭和能力哪个更重要英语作文Qualifications vs. Competence: Navigating the Importance of Degrees and AbilitiesIn today's competitive job market, the debate surrounding the relative importance of academic qualifications and practical skills has become increasingly prominent. As individuals strive to secure their dream careers, the question arises: is a prestigious degree more valuable than a demonstrated set of abilities? This conundrum has sparked numerous discussions and sparked the interest of employers, educators, and job seekers alike. On the one hand, a formal education, represented by a diploma or degree, is often viewed as a testament to an individual's intellectual capacity, dedication, and commitment to their chosen field. Employers frequently use academic credentials as a means of filtering job applicants, as they serve as a reliable indicator of an individual's knowledge and potential. A degree from a reputable institution can open doors to lucrative job opportunities, provide access to extensive professional networks, and signal to potential employers that the candidate has the necessary foundation to excel in a particular role. Moreover, the process of obtaining a degree often involves rigorous coursework, challenging examinations, and the development of critical thinking skills. This academic training can equip individuals with a well-rounded understanding of theoretical concepts, research methodologies, and problem-solving techniques. In many industries, such as law, medicine, and engineering, a recognized degree is a mandatory requirement to practice or advance in the field. However, the proponents of the "competence over credentials" perspective argue that practical skills and real-world experience hold greater value in the modern workplace. They contend that the ability to apply knowledge, adapt to changing circumstances, and demonstrate tangible achievements is more indicative of an individual's potential for success than the mere possession of a diploma. In many cases, employers are seeking candidates who can hit the ground running, contribute immediately to the organization, and possess the necessary problem-solving and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic work environment. These employers may place a higher emphasis on an applicant's portfolio of projects, internships, or freelance work, as these demonstrate the individual's ability to translate academic knowledge into practical applications.Furthermore, the rapid pace of technological advancements and the ever-evolving nature of many industries have led to a growing demand for individuals who can continuously learn, upskill, and adapt to new challenges. In such a landscape, a degree may provide a solid foundation, but the ability to learn, innovate, and apply one's skills effectively can be the true differentiator in the job market.Additionally, the rising cost of higher education and the increasing student debt burden have prompted many individuals to question the long-term value of a traditional degree. Some opt for alternative pathways, such as online courses, coding bootcamps, or self-directed learning, which can provide them with the necessary skills and certifications without the hefty price tag or time commitment associated with a four-year university program.Ultimately, the debate between the importance of qualifications and competence is a complex one, with valid arguments on both sides. The ideal solution may lie in finding a balance between the two, where individuals strive to develop a strong educational foundation coupled with practical, industry-relevant skills. Employers, too, must recognize the value of both academic credentials and demonstrated abilities, and tailor their hiring processes to identify candidates who possess the right mix of qualifications and competencies to thrive in their organizations. In conclusion, the question of whether a degree or competence is more important is not a simple one to answer. It depends on the individual's career aspirations, the specific industry, and the evolving needs of the job market. By recognizing the complementary nature of these two factors and embracing a holistic approach to talent development and recruitment, both job seekers and employers can navigate this complex landscape and unlock the full potential of the workforce.。

But the designers of the Johnstown campus of the University of Pittsburgh set themselves the opposite problem-how to collect body heat. They have designed a collection system which utilizes not only body heat, but the heat given off by such objects as light bubs and refrigerators as well. The system works so well that no conventional fuel is needed to make the campus's six buildings comfortable. Some parts of most modern buildings-theaters and offices as well as classrooms are more than amply heated by people and lights and sometimes must be air-conditioned even in winter. The technique of saving heat and redistributing it is called "heat recovery." A few modern buildings recover heat, but the University's system is the first to recover heat from some buildings and re-use it in others. Along the way, pit has learned a great deal about some of its heat producers. The harder a student studies, the more heat his body gives off. (76) Male students emit more heat than female students, and the larger a student, the more heat he produces. It is tempting to conclude that the hottest prospect for the Johnstown campus would be a hardworking, overweight male genius. 1. Until recently, body heat has caused problems because it ______. A. was difficult to collect B. came in a variety of forms C. was difficult to get rid of D. tended to be absorbed by physical objects 答案:C 答案是开头的第⼆句:The usual problem is how to dispose of it.Dispose of“处理解决”。
