Welcome to our English Corner. The English Corner was

set up by some English teachers and students ten years

ago. Every Saturday evening from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm,

students from different schools nearby gather here. In our

English Corner, we can practice our oral English and

improve our English abilities. At the same time, we also

meet a variety of people here, including some foreign

friends. So we can use English Corner to make new friends

and increase our knowledge. Usually we choose a topic for

participants to discuss and we also organize activities,

such as singing English songs and playing English games.

Clothes are so significant in our daily life that we can't

live without them, because they are useful in many ways.

For example, clothes could keep us warm in winter and

protect our skin from the heavy sunshine in summer.

What's more, Clothes make a man just as a saddle makes a

horse. Everyday we wear different kinds of clothes to

make ourselves more attractive. Suppose if we wore the

same clothes all the time, our life would be so boring.

As far as I'm concerned, I know some kinds of clothes,

such as formal clothes, casual clothes, evening wears and

uniforms. In different situations, we wear different clothes.

For example, we wear formal clothes to go to meetings;

we wear casual clothes at home; we wear evening wears to

attend evening parties, and we wear uniforms at school or

at work.

Nevertheless, I prefer casual clothes, because they are

comfortable. And they are also very cheap. When I wear casual clothes, I can do a lot of sports. It’s so cool. By the

way, red is my favorite color, since I've got a white skin. If

I'm in red, I'll look kind and friendly. So I always buy red

clothes when shopping.

important causes, and both are often underfunded. they

depend on government grants and private donations in

order to continue. if a company were to give a sum of

money to one of these causes, it would be difficult to

choose between them. however, i believe that the

company should put the money toward protecting the

environment for the following reasons.

first, the state of the environment affects everyone, and

it affects people in a very important way. if mankind

destroys the environment, we will not be able to survive.

the arts are important to our quality of life, but the

environment is important both to the quality of life and to

life itself. second, because industry causes much of the

damage to the environment, i believe that companies have some responsibility to support conservation and

cleanup efforts.

finally, protecting the environment is a bigger problem,

and so requires a higher level of funding than the arts. a

company’s donation to the arts may be more visible, but

one to the protection of the environment would be more

meaningful.

in conclusion, while both the arts and environmental

protection are worthy causes, i believe the company

should make its donation to an environmental cause. the

environment affects everyone in important ways and

protecting it is a big job. hopefully, private donations will

help to improve both our environment and our lives.
