I. Teaching Aims
1, Knowledge Objects
(1) Function: learn to tell a story.
(2)Key Vocabulary: shoot, begin, god, stone, once upon a time.
2. Ability Objects
(1)Learn to talk about some fairy tales and the people in the story.
(2)Be able to tell a story using the target language.
3, Moral Objects
(1)Educate students not to be afraid of difficulties and develop the
spirit that one never give up.
(2)Anything is possible if you work hard.
II. Teaching Key points
Learn to talk about some fairy tales and the people in the story.
Teaching Difficult Points
Students learn some target language about telling a story and be able
to tell a story in their own words.
III.Teaching Methods The insinuation teaching approach ,audio video method, task-based
language teaching method, communicative approach, and
multimedia-assisted teaching and learning method.
IV.Teaching Procedures
Step1 Warming-up
Have students look at the picture of Yu Gong Moves a Mountain and
talk about it with students.
T: We remember a story called Y Gong Moves a Mountain. Today
we’ll learn something about this story. And do you know other story?
Which fairy story have you ever read?
S1:Journey to the west
S2: Hou Yi shoots the Sun
(This part will be showed in PPT from the3rd to the 6th pages, so let
students learn something about fairy)
Step2 Revision
In this part, let students remind some key vocabulary, such as
射击 shoot
石头 stone
神 God
从前 once upon a time
(This part will be presented in PPT from the seventh to the ninth
pages in order to make students learn new passage easily.) Step3 Presentation
1.Show four pictures in Page 41 and tell students that there are four
Chinese ancient fairy tales.
Present pictures one by one on the screen and teach new words and
phrases. Then have them talk about them like this

S:Who is the man? What is he doing?
T: He is Hou Yi. He is shooting the suns.
2.Have students work in pairs with each other pictures. Have one
students read the story titles in 1a , and then ask students to match
the titles with the pictures.
(This part will appear in PPT in tenth page, this part can improve
the students’ ability of telling a story)
Step4 Listening Practice
Have students read the sentences in 1b and tell them :You’ll listen to
a conversation about a story between Anna and Wang
Ming .Now ,listen and check the facts you hear.
Then play the tape and ask students to listen to the tape carefully and
check the facts they hear, Check the answers in class.
(This part is in the 11th and 12th pages, let students improve their
ability of listening)
Step5Role-play 1, Ask students to read the conversation in pairs in 1c.
2.Ask some students to role-play the conversation.
(this part is in the 13th and 14th pages in PPT)
Step6 Homework
Tell the story Yu Gong Moves a Mountain in English to your parents.
Once upon a time, there was a very old man …
(This part is in the 15th page in PPT.)
