My arms got so tired from lifting and carrying!The worst part was dealing with the dented cans. We couldn't include those in the food boxes, so we had to take each one out, remove the label, and use a special tool to punch a hole in it to drain out the contents. That was pretty gross, let me tell you! Especially the ones with mystery meat or vegetables. Blech!Despite how tiring and kinda smelly it was, I actually had a really great time volunteering at the food bank. All the kids worked together as a team to get everything organized efficiently. The coordinators were awesome at giving us snack breaks and keeping our spirits up when we started to drag.But you know what the best part was? At the end of each shift, we got to go out into the parking lot and hand out the food boxes to people driving through in their cars.
