Title: English Phonetics Lesson Plan

Procedure:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and engage in a short conversation to create a positive
learning atmosphere.
- Play a short audio clip of different English sounds and ask students to identify
the sounds they hear.
2. Introduction to Phonetics (10 minutes)
- Explain the importance of phonetics in language learning and communication. - Introduce the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and its symbols.
- Provide handouts with the IPA symbols and examples of words for students to
practice.
3. Vowel Sounds (15 minutes)
- Present the different vowel sounds in English using the IPA symbols.
- Pronounce each sound clearly and ask students to repeat after you.
- Provide examples of words containing each vowel sound and ask students to
practice pronouncing them.
4. Consonant Sounds (15 minutes)
- Introduce the various consonant sounds in English, using the IPA symbols.
- Model the correct pronunciation of each sound and ask students to imitate.
- Provide examples of words with each consonant sound and allow students to
practice saying them.
5. Discrimination Practice (10 minutes)
- Play audio recordings of minimal pairs (words that differ by only one sound)
and ask students to identify the different sounds.
- Provide feedback and clarification on any challenging sounds.
6. Speaking Activity (5 minutes)
- Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
- Give each group a list of words containing different sounds.
- In turns, students pronounce the words to their partners, who must identify
