Just memorizing vocabulary words is really tough when there's no connection to familiar characters. And don't even get me started on trying to write an essay in English! How do native speakers keep all the tenses, articles, and prepositions straight? It's mind-boggling.My English teachers have had me doing all sorts of practice over the years to get ready. We've done tons of reading comprehension passages and essays to analyze writing structures. There's been endless drilling of vocabulary words through flashcards and games. We've worked on listeningexercises and spoken dialogues to improve pronunciation. Sometimes it feels like my brain is overflowing trying to cram in all the English skills!What's been most helpful though is when we get opportunities to actually use English in a real situation, not just for practice tests. Last year, my school hosted some students from the United States for a cultural exchange week. We got to meet them, learn about their schools and home life, and even played games and sports together. At first I was terrified to try speaking in my broken English. But those students were so nice and patient. As the week went on, I got more and more confident engaging in basic conversations. It made everything click into place – that English isn't just an academic subject, but an actual tool for communicating with people globally.My parents have also found me an English tutor to work with privately once a week. Her name is Jessica and she's really nice. She's from Canada and speaks perfect English obviously. During our sessions, she has me practice writing all different types of essays and stories. Then she goes through and edits my work - correcting grammar mistakes, pointing out poor word choices, and giving suggestions to elevate my writing. It's amazing how just a few little tweaks can make a paragraph read so muchbetter and more natural. Jessica says my writing has really progressed, but I still have a long way to go before reaching native-level fluency.With the big integrated program exam coming up next month, I've been cramming extra hard on my English skills. My days are filled with English audiobooks in the car, English movies and TV shows for immersion, and extra essay writing practice every night. Sometimes I get so frustrated when I just can't find the right words to express what I'm thinking. Or when I stumble over stupid little things that native speakers just know automatically. During those moments, I wonder if this whole endeavor is worth the effort.But then I remember how amazing it would be to become a university student by age 15. I'll be lightyears ahead of my peers!I can spend those extra years not wasted in boring test prep, but actually diving deeper into subjects I'm passionate about. Not to mention getting a headstart on my career. With a bachelor's degree, I can pursue any field I want - maybe engineering to build cool stuff like rockets or robots? Or business to become an entrepreneur and start my own company? Or why not go into scientific research to make discoveries that could help people? The possibilities are endless.That's what keeps me motivated. Sure, English is really difficult and draining. But it's a key that can unlock so many doors. If I can master it now, it will create incredible opportunities for me in the future. No pain, no gain as they say! I know if I stick with it and keep working harder than ever, I'll be able to pass this exam with flying colors. Then it's off to the integrated bachelor's program and making my dreams come true. Just watch, one day I'll be able to write an amazing essay in perfect English. This is just the first step!。
