我们猪可是动物界中相当聪明的动物，对人类有着远比充当食物更重要的作用。

智商超群不是吹的美国生物学家艾德华·威尔森（Edward Osborne Wilson）认为，决定一个动物是否聪明要看它脑的大小还有学习的速度，然后他按照这个标准制定了一个排行榜，而在这个排行榜上猪确实是排名比狗高的。

首先，猪的大脑结构类似人的大脑结构。

它遍布的沟槽和皱褶代表着智力，精良的大脑构造发展出强大的感官系统控制功能，也增强了猪问题解决和感情表达能力。

宾夕法尼亚大学的教授Stanley Curtis做了一个实验，如果猪使用游戏机上的摇杆将红球推入蓝色区域，它将获得奖励。

参加实验的猪很快就掌握了这项技能，在此之前，黑猩猩和狗也通过了这项实验，但是没有人想到被认为愚蠢的猪也能掌握地如此迅速。

在升级版的摇杆实验中，猪的表现甚至超过了与人类基因更近的黑猩猩和一向聪明的狗。
