Actually we have known a lot of examples and meaningful words to support the fact that we should try our best to ease the bad impression of others. Just like the old saying goes, we should give a better assumption to the one than we think he was. But many of us always fail to do this.

Take the situation of my class for example. Right at the beginning of the first semester when we were freshmen we all showed great favor to each other(26). What happens inside the skull of a soccer player who repeatedly heads a soccer ball? That question motivated a challenging new study of the brains of experienced players that has caused discussion and debate among soccer players, and some anxiety among those of us with soccer-playing children.

For the study, researchers (36)at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York selected 34adults, men and women. All of the volunteers had played soccer since childhood and now competed year-round in adult soccer leagues. Each filled out a detailed questionnaire developed especially for this study to determine how many times they had headed a soccer ball in the previous year, as well as whether they had experienced any known concussions (脑震荡) in the past.

Then the players completed computerized tests of their memory and other learning skills and had their brains scanned, using a complicated new M.R.I. technique (37)which can find structural changes in the brain that can't be seen during most scans.

According to the data they presented at a Radiological Society of North America meeting last month, the researchers found that the players who had headed the ball more than about 1,100 times in the previous 12 months showed significant loss of white matter(38)in parts of their brains involved with memory, attention

and the processing of visual information(39), compared with players who had headed the ball fewer times.

This pattern of white matter loss is "similar to those seen in traumatic (外伤的) brain injury”, like that after a serious concussion, the researchers reported, even though only one of these players was reported to have ever experienced a concussion.

The players who had headed the ball about 1,100 times or more in the past year were also generally worse at recalling lists of words read to them, forgetting or fumbling(40)the words far more often than players who had headed the ball less.

A federal agency on Tuesday called for a ban on all cellphone used by drivers(45)-- the most far-reaching recommendation up to now —saying its decision was based on a decade of investigations (41)into distraction-related(与分散注意力有关的) accidents, as well as growing concerns that powerful mobile devices are giving drivers even more reasons to look away from the road.

As part of its recommendation, the National Transportation Safety Board is urging states to ban drivers from using hands-free devices, including wireless headsets. However, the concern was heightened by increasingly powerful phones that people can use to send e-mails, watch movies and play games.

"Every year, new devices are being on sale." she said. "People are attracted to update their Facebook page, to play music with cellphone, as if sitting at a desk. But they are driving a.car."

The agency based its recommendation on evidence from its investigation of numerous crashes in which electronic distraction was a major contributing factor.(43)

Ms. Hersman said she understood that this recommendation would 'be unwelcome in some circles,given the number of drivers who talk and text. But she compared distracted driving to drunken driving and even smoking, which required wholesale cultural shifts to change behavior.(44)

"It's going to be very unpopular with some people." she said. "We're not here to win a

popularity contest. We're here to do the right thing. This is a difficult recommendation, but it's the right recommendation and it is time."

The agency's recommendation is not required for states to adopt such a ban. And it won't likely be agreed upon by state lawmakers who are unwillingly to anger those who have grown accustomed to using their device behind the wheel.

The ban also deserves attention because it is the first call by a federal agency to end the practice completely, rather than the partial ban that some lawmakers have put in place by allowing hands-free talking.

On December 24, more than 2,000 students and teachers of our school, including 5 foreign teachers, participated in the English Culture Festival and Christmas Carnival on the school playground. The celebration lasted from 3 pm till 5:30 pm, and on the scene, we could find over 30 tents were put up, which formed a Global Village. In the Village were built over 20 exhibition halls representing different countries such as US and UK. All the participants were wearing foreign costumes, singing foreign songs and selling a range of souvenirs as well as traditional food. At 4:30, a great Christmas performance was put on, which offered a great opportunity to display our talents and let us achieve a better understanding of western cultures and customs.

九年级模拟考试英语试卷分析 一、试卷基本情况分析 本次二模考试是学生中考前最后一次大型考试,试卷按中考试卷题型命题。总分120分,涵盖了听力,单选,完型,阅读和词汇,书面表达六大部分。试卷结构和难度:个人认为试卷注重基础知识、基本技能和综合语言运用能力的考查。试题选材贴近考生、贴近生活,不仅考查学生课内知识的积累,同时也考查学生对课外知识的运用。我认为本次试卷符合中考说明的要求,能够提升学生的综合能力,达到了模拟中考的效果。 二、题型分析及学生答题情况分析: (一)听力题。25道选择和5道短文填空,共30分。听力方面,听力话题以课标和考试说明为依托,材料内容贴近生活实际,试题以获取具体信息为主,体现了英语的开放性和实践性。平时听力训练所听录音语速较慢,因此导致有一部分同学对本次录音语速不太适应,没有获取关键信息。前25道题优生基本全部满分,这凸显出了综合复习的优势。但是听短文填空部分出错较多,集中体现在26题,日期表达中“日”应该用序数词,多数学生写成了基数词,说明知识点还是有盲区。30题put on有些学生只能写出put这说明学生在平时接触口语以及对学生的口语拓展较少,这说明学生对于文段的理解和信息的提炼还有提升空间。 (二)单选题。考点清晰明确符合考试说明题例,比较符合中考的出题思路和难度。共10小题,难度适中出现错误集中在33,38题。
