Step 1: Load the model file

a)Invoke the Open File dialog in one of the following ways:

?File > Open from the menu bar

?Folder icon from the Home group

?+ O keyboard shortcut

?Drag and drop

b)Select the file …\STUDENT-EXERCISE\Ch1\1A_Taurus.hm

c)Click on Open

Step 2: Rotate, Pan and Zoom the model

a)Click and hold

b)Drag the mouse around to rotate the model

(Note the small x in the screen indicating the rotational center) c)Click and hold

d)Drag the mouse to pan the model

e)to zoom the model

f)F to fit the model in the graphical window

Step 3: Find the 3 components that need repair

a)Model Browser >Components > Select HUB2 component >

> Isolate (or I )

b)Repeat Step 3.a to isolate the following components, including the one you isolated in Step 3.a : MC -spring coil -R -FT and MC-control arm 2-Rubber-RR-L.

You should see only the below three components

Use the search bar to quickly find the HUB2component Press and hold to select the three components at the same time

Step 1: Load the model file

a)File > Open > …\STUDENT-EXERCISE\Ch1\Airframe_Section.hm

Step 2: Isolate geometry

a)Show/Hide

b)Hover your mouse over Geometry and click on the Only shortcut that appears.

Step 3: Isolate elements

a)Show/Hide

b)Check the Elements box and uncheck the others (or click the Only option next to Elements)

Step 4: Isolate just one component

a)Filter> Components or C

b)Model Browser> Components > > select Skin 1 component

c)> Isolate or I

Step 4: Isolate just one component

d)Filter >Elements or E

e)> Select > Displayed (or press + A)

f)> Reverse Displayed (or press R to display elements)

Step 5: Try using the Show/Hide tool to isolate entity types

a)Show/Hide ; click Only next to the entity that you want to isolate

Step 1: Load the model file

a)File > Open > …\STUDENT-EXERCISE\Ch1\Airframe_Section.hm

Step 2: Practice using the filter and keyboard shortcuts

a)Filter > Components or C

b)> Select > By List or for Advanced Selection

c)components Frame2,Frame4,Frame6(press and hold for multiselection) > OK

Step 2: Practice using the filter and keyboard shortcuts

d)E to select the elements associated to these components

e)N to change the filter to Nodes and select the nodes associated to these elements.

f)I to isolate the components.

g)+ to set the Entity Filter to all and> Show All (or A)

a)Show/Hide > display Elements and Systems

b)Filter > Systems

c)> Select > Displayed (or + A)

d)Filter > Nodes or N to select

the nodes associated with the selected systems

Step 4: Check the Property assignment and Thickness

a)Model Browser > Components > > Select Frame1 component

b)Filter > Properties and check the number of properties for Frame1component.

c)or> to open Properties Advanced Selection.

Check again the properties associated to the component Frame1 > OK

d)Model Browser > Properties> > Select Top_Flange-1 and Web-1 Properties for

Frame1 component.

f)Optional: repeat the steps for each component.

User can drag and reposition the floating view for Components, Materials, Properties...
