And I was happy to find out that I made some progress in writing English compositions.

I still remember what happened between my best friend Mark and me.
When I was in Grade Eight, I just got a pen as my birthday gift from my father. I liked it very much. I showed it to my best friend, Mark. He asked me to lend it to him. Although I wasn't willing to do so, I still lent it to him because he was my best friend. But the next day, he told me that the pen was broken when he did homework with it. I got very angry at that time. I didn't talk to him during the whole day.
Finally, I chose to forgive him, because I thought nothing was more important than our friendship. What's more, I became very happy after I forgave him.

What I like about where I live
I live in a small and quiet city in Henan Province. Different from other cities, it has no skyscrapers (摩天大楼) or endless cars on the streets. People there are seldom late for their work and can enjoy a peaceful life. And that is what I like most about my city.
However,my city also has its problem. There is no high-speed train. I hope it will soon have high-speed trains there so that I can travel to other cities more easily!

A time when I made someone happy
Last summer, though it was hot, I volunteered to teach children English in a rural area. When I arrived there first, I couldn't adjust to the weather and the lifestyle.
However, as time went by, I found myself quite happy when I saw the students I was teaching made great progress. In order to teach them, I had to keep on learning as well. As a result,my English improved a lot. Also, I made friends with some of my students. We are still keeping in touch by letter now.
In a word, I not only helped those in need, but also learned a lot that summer. If I have another chance to do the volunteer work, I am ready to go.

It's one of our traditional virtues to be thrifty (节约). Being thrifty is a good virtue which has been passed down from generation to generation. It's a good idea to start on in our daily life.
First of all,I usually check the lights and the taps to make sure that they are off when leaving the house. Besides,I have never wasted any food. What's more,I don't spend too much money on unnecessary things and always save money regularly.
The reason why I do so is that I want to make a difference to my life. As the old saying goes, “Waste not, want not”. I make up my mind to be thrifty as much as possible. I think everyone should take action to develop this virtue.

Everyone has his or her own hobbies and so do I. My hobby is singing. I usually spend most of my free time practicing singing. I also read some books or watch some videos about how to improve singing skills.
When I am in trouble, singing can make me calm down and give me courage to overcome the difficulty. When I am tired, it can make me relaxed. When I am angry with something, it can also make me happy again. Singing brings me much happiness. I took part in a singing competition last year, and I won first prize at last,which really made me feel pleased and proud.
