篇一:干将莫邪劳山道士翻译《干将莫邪》译文楚国的干将、莫邪夫妇为楚王铸造利剑,三年才铸成。楚王很生气,想要杀了他们。(干将夫妇铸的)剑有一雌一雄两把。(当时)干将的妻子正怀孕在身,就要生孩子了。丈夫对妻子说:“我为楚王铸剑,三年才铸成,楚王很生气,(我)去他一定会杀了我。你要是生的孩子是男孩,长大了,告诉他说:‘出门望南边的山,有棵松树长在石头上,剑就在树后面。’”接着就拿着雌剑去见楚王。楚王十分生气,派人仔细察看,剑有两把,一把雌剑,一把雄剑,雌剑拿来了,雄剑没拿来。楚王很生气,当即杀了他(干将)。莫邪的儿子名叫赤,等到后来成年了,就问他母亲说:“我父亲在什么地方?”母亲说:“你父亲为楚王铸剑,三年才铸成,楚王很生气,杀了他。(他)离开时嘱咐我:‘告诉你儿子:出门抬头看南边的山,有棵松树长在石头上,剑就在树的背后。’”儿子就出门往南边看,没看见有山,只看见庭院前有一根松木柱子竖立在石头上面。随即用斧子劈开柱子的背面,得到了宝剑。(赤)白天黑夜都想着要报复楚王。楚王梦见一个男子,双眉之间有一尺宽的距离,说要报仇。楚王随即悬赏千金捉拿他。干将的儿子听到这个消息,(赶紧)逃离,进到山中边哭边唱。有个陌生人碰到了他,对他说:“你年纪轻轻,为什么哭得特别悲伤啊?”他回答说:“我是干将、莫邪的儿子,楚王杀了我父亲,我要替他报仇。”这人说:“听说楚王悬赏千金买你的人头,拿你的人头和宝剑来,我替你去报仇。”干将的儿子说:“太好了!”当即刎颈自杀,两只手捧着自己的人头和宝剑进献给他,(死后)直立不动。这人说:“我不会辜负你。”尸体这才倒下去。这个陌生人拿着干将儿子的人头去见楚王,楚王十分高兴。这个陌生人说:“这是勇士的人头,应当放到开水锅中煮。”楚王按照他的话(做)。煮干将儿子的人头,人头煮了三天三夜都煮不烂,还跳出开水中,瞪着眼睛显得十分生气。陌生人说:“这个男子的头煮不烂,希望大王亲自到跟前去仔细看看,这样就一定会烂。”楚王立即到跟前去看。陌生人拿宝剑一比画,楚王的人头就掉到开水中;陌生人也自己砍下自己的人头,头又掉到开水中。三个人头都烂了,不能分辨出来,就将水和肉分开埋葬了。《劳山道士》译文本县有个姓王的读书人,排行老七,是世代官家子弟。年轻的时候爱慕道术,听说劳山上有很多仙人,就背着书箱前去学习。他登上一个山顶,山顶上有一座道观,

里面很幽静。一个道士坐在蒲团上,白头发垂到衣领上,神情仪态清爽高迈。王生询问并和道士交谈起来,道士说的道理很深远奥妙。王生请求拜道士为师,道士说:“担心你娇气懒惰不能干苦活。”王生回答说:“能吃苦。”道士的弟子很多,傍晚的时候全聚集在一起,王生向他们一一磕头行见面礼,这样王生就留在了道观中。凌晨,道士把王生叫出去,交给他一把斧子,让他随着众弟子上山砍柴。王生恭敬地接受了命令。过了一个多月,手和脚上都长了厚厚的茧子,王生不能忍受这种苦楚,暗地里有了回家的想法。一天傍晚回到道观,王生看见两人和师父在一起饮酒。太阳已经下山,还没有点灯,师父就剪了一张像镜子一样圆的纸贴在墙壁上。一会儿,明亮的月光照耀房间,月光明亮,能照出极细微的东西。众弟子环绕着他,听他差遣,给他办事。一个客人说:“这么美好的夜晚,这么大的乐趣,不能不和大家一起享受。”就从几案上取一壶酒,分着赏赐给众弟子,并且嘱咐他们尽管喝。王生自己寻思:七八个人,一壶酒怎么能供应所有的人?众弟子各自找来很大的酒杯,争着饮尽杯中的酒,惟恐酒樽中的酒被别人喝尽了。但是反复从壶中倒出灌入杯中,酒最终也没减少。王生心里觉得很奇怪。一会儿,一个客人说:“承蒙赐给月光一样明亮的亮光,却这样冷冷清清地喝酒!为什么不把嫦娥叫来,就把筷子投到月亮中,只见一个美女从月光中走出,起初的时候身高还不满一尺,到了地上,就和人一样高了,纤细的腰肢,俊秀的脖颈,翩翩而动,跳起霓裳羽衣舞。过了一会儿唱道:“仙哪!仙哪!还会回去吗?还会把我禁闭在广寒宫里吗?”歌声清澈高扬,就像吹箫一样响亮。唱完后,打着旋往上升,跳着登到几案上,(众人)惊得回头看的间隙,(嫦娥)又变成了筷子。三个人大笑。又有一个客人说:“今天晚上最高兴了,但是不胜酒力了,希望在月宫中给我饯行,可以吗?”三个人离开坐席,慢慢地进到月亮中。众弟子看着三个人坐在月亮中饮酒,胡须眉毛全显现出来,就像影子在镜子中一样。过了一会儿,月亮渐渐暗了下去,(等)弟子点燃蜡烛走过来,只剩道士一个人坐着,而客人都不见踪影了。几案上的鱼肉瓜果还在,墙壁上的月亮,只是一张像镜子一样圆的纸罢了。道士问众弟子:“喝够了吗?”(弟子们)说:“够了!”(道士)说:“喝够了,就应该早睡觉,不要耽误打柴割草。”众弟子答应并退了下去。王生暗地里很羡慕,就打消了回家的念头。又过了一个月,(王生)十分劳苦,(觉得)不能忍受了,但道上并没传授一门道术。(王生)心

里不能等了,(向师父)告辞说:“弟子从几百里外的地方来这里从师学习,纵然不能学得长生不死之术,要是略微给我传授一点(法术),也可以抚慰我求教的心情。现在已经过了两三个月,不过是早上去打柴,傍晚回来,弟子我在家的时候,从来没经受过这样的苦楚。”道士笑着说:“我本来就说你不能吃苦,(今天看来)确实这样。明天早上一定打发你走。”王生说:“弟子我操劳了(这么)多天,师父稍微传授一点小法术,这次才算是没白来。”道士问道:“求取什么法术?”王生说:“每每见到师父所行之处,墙壁不能阻隔,只要学到这个法术就足够了。”道士笑着答应了。于是就把咒语传授给他,并让他自己念咒语,(念)完了,叫道:“进去!”王生面对着墙,不敢进去。(道士)又说:“试着进去!”王生真的从容地往里冲,到了墙那里就被阻住了。道士说:“低下头猛地进去,不要迟疑!”王生真的离墙几步远,奔跑着进去。到了墙那里,空空的就像没有东西,回头一看果然到了墙外。王生十分高兴,进去感谢师父。道士说:“回家后,应当洁身自守,否则就不灵验。”接着资助了旅费,打发他回去了。王生回到家,自己夸耀说遇到了仙人,坚硬的墙壁也不能阻挡自己。他的妻子不相信。王生仿效从前做过的,离开墙壁几尺远,奔跑着往里冲,脑袋碰到坚硬的墙壁,猛地跌倒在地。他妻子扶起他一看,额头鼓起了个大包,就像个大鸡蛋。他妻子取笑他。王生又惭愧又生气,(也只能)骂老道士不是个好东西。篇二:《阿房宫赋》原文翻译对照《阿房宫赋》原文翻译对照杜牧(803-852),字牧之,唐朝万年人(今西安),晚唐杰出的诗人、文学家,人称“小杜”以别与杜甫。他与李商隐并称为“小李杜”。阿房宫赋》是杜牧的成名之作。他凭借此文中了进士。篇三:礼记学记原文译文对照版礼记。学记发虑宪,求善良,足以謏闻,不足以动众;就贤体远,足以动众,未足以化民。君子如欲化民成俗,其必由学乎!◎易解:引发思虑,广求善良,只能做到小有名声,不足以感动群众。亲自就教于贤者,体念远大的利弊,虽能够感动群众,仍然不足以教化人民。君子如果要教化人民,造成良好的风俗习惯,一定要从教育入手。玉不琢,不成器;人不学,不知道。是故古之王者,建国君民,教学为先。《兑命》曰:「念终始典于学。」其此之谓乎!◎易解:虽然是质地美好的玉,如果不经过琢磨,也不能成为有用的器皿;人虽然自称是万物之灵,如果不肯学习,也不会明白做人处世的道理。所以古时候的君主,建设国家,管理人民,都是以教育为最优先、最重要的工作。

《尚书·兑命篇》说:要自始至终常常想到学习。就是这个意思。虽有嘉肴,弗食,不知其旨也;虽有至道,弗学,不知其善也。是故,学然后知不足,教然后知困。知不足,然后能自反也;知困,然后能自强也。故曰:教学相长也。《兑命》曰:「学学半。」其此之谓乎?◎易解:虽然有好菜摆在那里,如果不吃,也就不能知道它的美味;虽然有至善的道理(最好的义理),如果不去学习,也不能知道它的美好可贵。所以说:学习过后才知道自己的学识不够,教人之后才发现自己的学识不通达。知道不够,然后才能反省,努力向学。知道有困难不通达,然后才能自我勉励,发奋图强。所以说:教与学相辅相成的。《尚书·兑命篇》说:教别人能够收到一半学习的效果,教学互进。是这个意思。古之教者,家有塾,d有庠,术有序,国有学。比年入学,中年考校。一年视离经辨志,三年视敬业乐群,五年视博习亲师,七年视论学取友,谓之小成;九年知类通达,强立而不反,谓之大成。夫然后足以化民易俗,近者说服,而远者怀之,此大学之道也。记曰:「蛾子时术之。」其此之谓乎。◎易解:古时候教学的地方,一家中设有「私塾」,一d中设有「庠」(五百家为d),一个遂中设有「序」(一万两千五百家为遂),一国之中设有「太学」。每年都有新生入学,隔年一次。入学一年之后,考经文的句读,辨别志向所趋;三年考察学生是否尊重专注于学业,乐于与人群相处;五年考察学生是否博学笃行,亲近师长;七年时考察学生在学术上是否有独到的见解,及对朋友的选择,这时候可以称之为小成。九年时知识通达,能够触类旁通,遇事不惑而且不违背师训,就可以称之为大成。这时候才能够教化人民,移风易俗,然后附近的人都心悦诚服,远方的人也都来归附。这是大学教育的方法与次第。古书说:蚂蚁时时学习衔泥,然后才能成大垤。就是这个意思。大学始教,皮弁祭菜,示敬道也;宵雅肄三,官其始也;入学鼓箧,孙其业也;夏楚二物,收其威也;未卜禘不视学,游其志也;时观而弗语,存其心也;幼者听而弗问,学不躐等也。此七者,教之大伦也。记曰:「凡学,官先事,士先志。」其此之谓乎。◎易解:大学开学的时候,学生都穿著礼服,以苹藻之菜祭祀先圣先师,表示尊师重道;先练习《诗·小雅》中《鹿鸣》、《四牡》、《皇皇者华》三首诗歌,劝勉学生以莅官事上之道;击鼓召集学生,正式打开书箧(书包),希望学生以谦逊谨慎的态度学习;夏楚两物(教鞭)是用来警惕鞭策学生,收到整肃威仪的效果;夏天的大祭(天子祭天)未实施以前,天子、诸

侯不急着到去视察,为的是让学生有充足的时间发展志向;教师常常观察学生,但是并不轻易发言,等到适当的时候再加以指导,是要使学生自动自发(《论语·述而》:不愤不启,不悱不发);至于年幼的学生,只听讲而不能乱发问,是因为学习要按照进度顺序(次第)进行。这七项是教学的大道理,非常重要。古书说:凡学习做官,领导人民,先学习管理事情,要作一个读书人先学习立志。就是这个意思。(志者存心也,志气志气,志者气之导,心之引也。)大学之教也,时教必有正业,退息必有居。学,不学操缦,不能安弦;不学博依,不能安诗;不学杂服,不能安礼;不兴其艺,不能乐学;故君子之于学也,藏焉,修焉,息焉,游焉。夫然,故安其学而亲其师,乐其友而信其道。是以虽离师辅而不反也。《兑命》曰:「敬孙务时敏,厥修乃来。」其此之谓乎。◎易解:大学施教是讲究方法的,是顺着时序而教的,如春秋教礼乐,冬夏教诗书,所教授的都有正常的科目,学生下课及放假的时候,也都有指定的研究课业。(宋人断句改为:「大学之教也,时教必有正业,退息必有居学。」句读略有不同。)学习要有方法,如果不从「操、缦」这些小曲学起,指法不纯熟,琴、瑟就弹不好;不从通晓鸟兽草木,天时人事学会譬喻,诗就作不好;不学会洒扫应对,礼节就行不恰当,对于六艺等技艺没有兴致,就提不起学习的兴趣。所以君子在学习方面,要藏之于心,表现在外,不论休息或游乐的时候,都念念不忘,能够这样,才能安于学习,亲近师长;与同学相处融洽而且信奉自己所学的真理。能够这样虽然离开了同学师长,也不会背弃道义。《尚书·兑命篇》说:恭敬谦逊,努力不倦,如此修行便能成功。就是这个意思。今之教者,呻其占毕,多其讯,言及于数,进而不顾其安,使人不由其诚,教人不尽其材,其施之也悖,其求之也佛。夫然,故隐其学而疾其师,苦其难而不知其益也,虽终其业,其去之必速,教之不刑,其此之由乎!◎易解:现今之教人者,口里虽然念着书本,心里并不通达,故意找些难题来问学生,讲一些枯燥无味的名物制度,让人听不懂;但求多教,不管学生明不明白。而且教人时没有一点诚意,又不衡量学生的程度与学习能力;对学生的教导违反情理,学生求学也违逆不顺。如此一来,使得学生愈来愈厌恶学习而且憎恶师长;以学习为难为苦,而不明白学习的快乐与好处。虽然课业勉强读完了,也很快就忘得一干二净。之所以不能成功,原因就在此。大学之法,禁于未发之谓豫,当其可之谓时,不陵节而施之谓孙,相观而善之谓摩。此四者,

教之所由兴也。◎易解:大学教人的方法,在一切邪恶的念头未发生之前,就用礼来教育,来约束禁止,这就是预备、防备的意思(古德所谓防患于未然是也)。当学生可以教诲的时候才加以教导,就叫做合乎时宜。依据学生的程度,不跨越进度,不超出其能力来教导,就叫做循序渐进。使学生互相观摩而学习他人的长处,就叫做切磋琢磨。这四种教学方法,是教育之所以兴盛的原因。发然后禁,则扞格而不胜;时过然后学,则勤苦而难成;杂施而不孙,则坏乱而不修;独学而无友,则孤陋而寡闻;燕朋逆其师,燕辟废其学。此六者,教之所由废也。◎易解:邪恶的念头已经发生,然后再来禁止,因为错误的观念已经坚不可拔,教育亦难以胜任。适当的学习时期过了才去学,虽然努力苦学,也难有成就。东学一点西学一些,却不按照进度学习,只是使头脑混乱毫无条理而已。没有同学在一起研讨,切磋琢磨,便落得孤单落寞而少见闻。结交不正当的朋友,会导致违背师长的教训,不良的习惯,会荒废自己的学业。这六项,是导致教育失败的原因。君子既知教之所由兴,又知教之所由废,然后可以为人师也。故君子之教喻也,道而弗牵,强而弗抑,开而弗达。道而弗牵则和,强而弗抑则易,开而弗达则思,和易以思,可谓善喻矣。◎易解:君子已经知道教育之所以兴盛的原因,也明白教育之所以衰落的道理,然后就可以为人师表了。所以君子的教化是善于晓喻,让人明白道理,只加以引导,而不去强迫别人服从;对待学生严格,但并不抑制其个性的发展;加以启发,而不将结论和盘托出。只引导而不强迫,使学习的人容易亲近。教师严格而不压抑,使学生能够自由发挥,得以充分发展。只加以启发而不必全部说出,使学生能够自己思考(以免阻碍了学生独立思考的能力)。使人亲近又能自动思考,这才是善于晓喻了。学者有四失,教者必知之。人之学也,或失则多,或失则寡,或失则易,或失则止。此四者,心之莫同也。知其心,然后能救其失也,教也者,长善而救其失者也。◎易解:学习的人有四种过失容易犯,教导的老师一定要知道。人在学习的时候,或有贪多而不求甚解的毛病,或有得少为足的毛病(知道一些就满足了),或有认为太容易,生起轻忽,不认真学习的毛病,或有自我设限,不求进步的毛病。这四种心理都不相同,必须先明白这些心理,然后才能挽救这些缺失。教育的目的,就是要培养、增长优点挽救过失的。善歌者,使人继其声;善教者,使人继其志。其言也,约而达,微而臧,罕譬而喻,可谓继志矣。◎易解:善于唱歌者,能使人沉醉

在歌声中流连不忘,善于教学的人,能使人继承他的志向而努力不懈。教的言语虽然简要却通达晓畅,含蓄而允当,很少用比喻而且容易明白,可算是能使人继承其志了。君子知至学之难易,而知其美恶,然后能博喻;能博喻,然后能为师;能为师,然后能为长;能为长,然后能为君。故师也者,所以学为君也。是故择师不可不慎也。记曰:「三王四代惟其师。」此之谓乎。◎易解:君子知道求学深浅难易的顺序,对于个人的特性差异都能了解,然后方能因材施教。能广泛地晓喻,然后才有能力作老师;能够作老师,才能做官长;能做官长,才能作领袖。所以能作一个好老师,就是学作领袖的开始。所以选择老师不可以不谨慎。古书说:三王(伏羲神农黄帝称三皇)四代(虞夏殷周)对老师的选择都很慎重。就是这个意思。凡学之道,严师为难。师严然后道尊,道尊然后民知敬学。是故君之所不臣于其臣者二:当其为尸则弗臣也,当其为师则弗臣也。大学之礼,虽诏于天子,无北面,所以尊师也。◎易解:求学的道理,尊敬老师是最难做到的。老师受到尊敬,然后真理学问才会受到敬重。真理学问受到尊敬,然后人民才会敬重学问,认真学习。所以君主不以对待部属的态度来对待臣子的情形有两种:一种就是在祭祀时,臣子担任「尸」的时候,另一种就是担任君主老师的时候。大学的礼法,对天子授课时,老师不处于面朝北的臣位,就是为了表示尊师重道。善学者,师逸而功倍,又从而庸之;不善学者,师勤而功半,又从而怨之。善问者,如攻坚木,先其易者,后其节目,及其久也,相说以解;不善问者反此。善待问者,如撞钟,叩之以小者则小鸣,叩之以大者则大鸣,待其从容,然后尽其声;不善答问者反此。此皆进学之道也。◎易解:善于学习的人,老师很安闲,而教育效果反而加倍的好,学生更把功劳归诸于老师教导有方;对于不善学的人,老师教得很辛苦,效果却仅得一半,学生反而归罪于老师。善于发问的人,好比砍伐坚硬的木头,先从容易下手的软处开始,慢慢的扩及较硬的节目,时间久了,木头自然分解脱落;不善发问的人,使用的方法刚好相反。善于回答问题的人,有如撞钟,轻轻敲打则响应得小声,重力敲打,则响应的声音就很响亮,一定要打钟的人从容不迫,然后钟声才会余音悠扬传之久远,不善答问的人刚好相反,这都是增进学问的方法。记问之学,不足以为人师。必也其听语乎。力不能问,然后语之;语之而不知,虽舍之可也。◎易解:自己没有,没有独到见解的人,不够资格作老师。一定要学生提出问题,才加以解答;学生

心里有疑难,没有能力表达时,老师才加以开导;老师开导了,学生仍然不明白,虽然暂时放弃指导,等待将来也是可以的。良冶之子,必学为裘;良弓之子,必学为箕;始驾马者反之,车在马前。君子察于此三者,可以有志于学矣。◎易解:良匠的儿子,想必也能学习补缀皮衣(古代工艺相近);良弓的儿子,想必也能制作畚箕;刚学驾车的小马,都事先把小马系在车后,而车子就在马的前面,让马跟着学习。君子观察这三件事,就可以立定求学的志向了。古之学者,比物丑类。鼓无当于五声,五声弗得不和。水无当于五色,五色弗得不章。学无当于五官,五官弗得不治。师无当于五服,五服弗得不亲。◎易解:古时候的学者,能够分析比较事物的异同之处,汇整成一类,譬如:鼓的声音并不相当于五音之中的任何一音,但是五音演奏,没有鼓的调和就显得不和谐。水的颜色并不相当于五色当中的任何一种,然而五色的配合,没有水为之调和就无法鲜明。至于学者并不等于政府的任何一种官职,然而任何一种官职,不经过学习就没有办事的能力。又如老师,他不是人伦中的任何一种亲属关系,但是任何一种亲属,如果没有老师的教诲,就不懂得人伦之间的关系了。君子曰:「大德不官,大道不器,大信不约,大时不齐。」察于此四者,可以有志于本矣。◎易解:伟大的德行,不偏治一种职务;伟大的道理,不局限于一种事物;真正伟大可贵的诚信,不一定建立在山盟海誓上;恒久的四时虽不相同,却运转不停,是最准确的守时。如果能了解这四种情形,就可以立志学习伟大了。三王之祭川也。皆先河而后海;或源也,或委也。此之谓务本。◎易解:夏商周三代王者之祭祀河川,都是先祭河而后祭海,河是水的源头根本,海是河流的归处,先本而后末,这叫做「务本」。 Joy

红外遥控系统 摘要 红外数据通信技术是目前在世界范围内被广泛使用的一种无线连接技术,被众多的硬件和软件平台所支持。红外收发器产品具有成本低,小型化,传输速率快,点对点安全传输,不受电磁干扰等特点,可以实现信息在不同产品之间快速、方便、安全地交换与传送,在短距离无线传输方面拥有十分明显的优势。红外遥控收发系统的设计在具有很高的实用价值,目前红外收发器产品在可携式产品中的应用潜力很大。全世界约有1亿5千万台设备采用红外技术,在电子产品和工业设备、医疗设备等领域广泛使用。绝大多数笔记本电脑和手机都配置红外收发器接口。随着红外数据传输技术更加成熟、成本下降,红外收发器在短距离通讯领域必将得到更广泛的应用。 本系统的设计目的是用红外线作为传输媒质来传输用户的操作信息并由接收电路解调出原始信号,主要用到编码芯片和解码芯片对信号进行调制与解调,其中编码芯片用的是台湾生产的PT2262,解码芯片是PT2272。主要工作原理是:利用编码键盘可以为PT2262提供的输入信息,PT2262对输入的信息进行编码并加载到38KHZ的载波上并调制红外发射二极管并辐射到空间,然后再由接收系统接收到发射的信号并解调出原始信息,由PT2272对原信号进行解码以驱动相应的电路完成用户的操作要求。 关键字:红外线;编码;解码;LM386;红外收发器。 1 绪论

A convection-conduction model for analysis of the freeze-thaw conditions in the surrounding rock wall of a tunnel in permafrost regions Abstract Based on the analyses of fundamental meteorological and hydrogeological conditions at the site of a tunnel in the cold regions, a combined convection-conduction model for air flow in the tunnel and temperature field in the surrounding has been constructed. Using the model, the air temperature distribution in the Xiluoqi No. 2 Tunnel has been simulated numerically. The simulated results are in agreement with the data observed. Then, based on the in situ conditions of sir temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind force, hydrogeology and engineering geology, the air-temperature relationship between the temperature on the surface of the tunnel wall and the air temperature at the entry and exit of the tunnel has been obtained, and the freeze-thaw conditions at the Dabanshan Tunnel which is now under construction is predicted. It was emphasized that the membrane stresses in the com-pression region of the curved models were less than those predicted by linear theory and that there was an accompanying increase in ?ange resultant force.The maximum web bending stress was shown to occur at 0.20h from the compression ?ange for the simple support stiffness condition and 0.24h for the ?xed condition,where h is the height of the analytical panel.It was noted that 0.20h would be the optimum position for longitudinal stiffeners in curved girders,which is the same as for straight girders based on stability requirements.From the ?xed condition cases it was determined that there was no signi?cant change in the membrane stresses (from free to ?xed)but that there was a signi?cant effect on the web bend-ing stresses.Numerical results were generated for the reduc-tion in effective moment required to produce initial yield in the ?anges based on curvature and web slenderness for a panel aspect ratio of 1.0and a web-to-?ange area ratio of 2.0.From the results,a maximum reduction of about 13%was noted for a /R =0.167and about 8%for a /R =0.10(h /t w =150),both of which would correspond to extreme curvature,where a is the length of the analytical panel (modeling the distance be-tween transverse stiffeners)and R is the radius of curvature.To apply the parametric results to developing design criteria for practical curved girders,the de?ections and web bending stresses that would occur for girders with a curvature corre-sponding to the initial imperfection out-of-?atness limit of D /120was used.It was noted that,for a panel with an aspect ratio of 1.0,this would correspond to a curvature of a /R =0.067.The values of moment reduction using this approach were compared with those presented by Basler (Basler and Thurlimann 1961;Vincent 1969).Numerical results based on this limit were generated,and the following web-slenderness requirement was derived: 2 D 36,500a a =1?8.6?34 (1) ? ??? t R R F w ?y where D =unsupported distance between ?anges;and F y =yield stress in psi. During almost the same time,Abdel-Sayed (1973)studied the prebuckling and elastic buckling behavior of curved web panels and proposed approximate conservative equations for estimating the critical load under pure normal loading (stress),pure shear,and combined normal and shear loading.The linear theory of shells was used.The panel was simply supported along all four edges with no torsional rigidity of the ?anges provided.The transverse stiffeners were therefore assumed to be rigid in their directions (no strains could be developed along the edges of the panels).The Galerkin method was used to solve the governing differential equations,and minimum eigenvalues of the critical load were calculated and presented for a wide range of loading conditions (bedding,shear,and combined),aspect ratios,and curvatures.For all cases,it was demonstrated that the critical load is higher for curved panels over the comparable ?at panel and increases with an increase in curvature. In 1980,Daniels et al.summarized the Lehigh University ?ve-year experimental research program on the fatigue behav-ior of horizontally curved bridges and concluded that the slen-derness limits suggested by Culver were too severe.Equations for ‘‘Load Factor Design’’and for ‘‘Allowable Stress Design’’were developed (respectively)as D 36,500a =1?4?192(3)? ?t R F w ?y D 23,000a =1?4 ?170 (4) ? ? t R f w ?b The latter equation is currently used in the ‘‘Allowable Stress Design’’portion of the Guide Speci?cations for girders not stiffened longitudinally. Numerous analytical and experimental works on the subject have also been published by Japanese researchers since the end of the CURT project.Mikami and colleagues presented work in Japanese journals (Mikami et al.1980;Mikami and Furunishi 1981)and later in the ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics (Mikami and Furunishi 1984)on the nonlinear be-havior of cylindrical web panels under bending and combined bending and shear.They analyzed the cylindrical panels based on Washizu’s (1975)nonlinear theory of shells.The governing nonlinear differential equations were solved numerically by the ?nite-difference method.Simple support boundary condi-tions were assumed along the curved boundaries (top and bot-tom at the ?ange locations)and both simple and ?xed support conditions were used at the straight (vertical)boundaries.The large displacement behavior was demonstrated by Mi-kami and Furunishi for a range of geometric properties.Nu-merical values of the load,de?ection,membrane stress,bend-ing stress,and torsional stress were obtained,but no equations for design use were presented.Signi?cant conclusions include that:(1)the compressive membrane stress in the circumfer-ential direction decreases with an increase in curvature;(2)the panel under combined bending and shear exhibits a lower level of the circumferential membrane stress as compared with the panel under pure bending,and as a result,the bending moment carried by the web panel is reduced;and (3)the plate bending stress under combined bending and shear is larger than that under pure bending.No formulations or recommendations for direct design use were made. Kuranishi and Hiwatashi (1981,1983)used the ?nite-ele-ment method to demonstrate the elastic ?nite displacement be-havior of curved I-girder webs under bending using models with and without ?ange rigidities.Rotation was not allowed (?xed condition)about the vertical axis at the ends of the panel (transverse stiffener locations).Again,the nonlinear distribu-
