If you go shopping for food before lunchtime, you’ll probably buy more than you plan to. 71 Modern shoppers need an education in how and how not to buy things at the grocery store. First, you should check the weekly newspaper ads. Find out the items that are on sale and decide if you really need those things. 72 “New and Improved!” or “All Natural” in front of a package may influence you. Instead, read the list of ingredients on the back. Third, compare prices. That is, you should examine the prices of both different brands and different sizes of the same brand. Another suggestion for consumers is to buy generic items instead of famous brands. 73 These products are cheaper because manufacturers don’t spend much money on packaging or advertising. The quality, however, is usually equal to the quality of well-known name brands. In the same way, in buying clothes, you can often find high quality and low prices in brands that are not famous. 74 .Although these stores aren’t very attractive, and they usually do not have individual dressing rooms, not only are the prices low, but you can often find the same famous brand that you find in high-priced department - 2 -

Every time I heard the other students talking and laughing, I felt my heart broken. I couldn’t talk with anyone about my problems. And I didn’t want my parents to worry about me. Then one day, my classmates talked happily with their friends, but I sat at my desk unhappily as usual. 53 I didn’t know who he was. He passed me and then turned back. He looked at me, with a smile on his face. Suddenly, I felt the touch of something bright and friendly. It made me feel happy, lively and warm. 54 I started to talk with other students and made friends. Day by day, I became closer to everyone in my class. The boy with the lucky smile has become my best friend now! 55 I believe that the world is what you think it is. If you think it lonely, you might always be alone.
