There are so many expressions in American English that sound pleasant(令人愉快的)but are not 1 When someone says they have to “face the music”,it does not mean they are going to a concert. “Facing the music”means to accept and deal with the punishment of an action.

2 For example, “I can't face another night of camping! It's cold and rainy. ”Or“In life, you must face your fears.”“Face” used in this way is very common.

But now, let's go back to“facing the music”.Imagine a friend asks you to take care of her beautiful red sports car. She gives you the keys and says,“Thanks so much for watching my car while I'm away. But please do not drive it. It is an extremely(极其)fast car,” 3 You want to show off to some friends. So, you drive it around town one night. As bad luck would have it, you lose control of the car and drive it into a stop sign, Bang!

When your friend returns you must tell her what you have done and“face the mus ic”. 4 It could be losing her friendship or paying for repairs to her sports car or both. Whatever the music is, you must face it.

5 To “take your medicine” means to accept the results from something bad you have done. And if someone says“You made your bed. Now lie in it.”,they mean you created a bad situation and now you will experience the result.

A. But you do not listen.

B.“ Face the music” is a good examp le.

C, The"music"here is the result of your actions.

D. Americans often use the word"face"in this way.

E. There are other American expressions that mean the same thing as “face the music”.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

A. But you do not lister.

B.“ Face the music” is a good example. “Face the music”

C. The"music " here is the result of your actions music

D. Americans often use the word“face” in this way.

E. There are other American expressions that mean the same thing as“ face the music”.

2 For example, “ I can' t face. another night of camping! It's cold and rainy, ”Or “In lifes, you must face your fears”“Face” used in this way is very common。

本题的信号很明显,如“can't face...”“face your f ear”“‘Face’used..”,很容易判断出段落大意为:(美国人)使用“face”的多种情况。这与备选项“Americans often use the word‘face’ in this way.” 故选D。

There are so many expressions in American English that sound pleasant(令人愉快的)but are not 1 When someone says they have to “face the music”,it does not mean they are going to a concert. “Facing the music”means to accept and deal with the punishmen t of an action.

很明显,“‘Face the music’ is a good example.”

找表示结果、结论、总结等的信号词语,如therefore,as a result,thus,in a word等,此类选项区分度较为明显。

Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it's hard for you to communicate with your parents, don't worry about it. Here are some suggestions for you to bridge generation gap(代沟). Don't argue with your parents. Don't get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won't consider your ideas if you are shouting at them You can't express(表达)yourself well if you are angry. Go to some place to cool off.

If you look at the top of your phone, you'll usually see a little symbol that says 3G or 4G. The "G" stands for the "generation" (代)of your mobile network. But the symbols will become things of the past after 5G networks fully arrive. On March 30, Shanghai vice-mayor Wu Qing made the first 5G video call on a Huawei Mate X Smartphone. Shanghai has also become the first city in China to start testing 5G networks. About 100 times faster than 4G networks, 5G will let people download and upload data(数据) faster than ever before. But 5G won't just bring faster mobile internet. People can use it for many other things as well. For example, 5G will help to make self-driving cars safer. Today's self-driving test cars have one problem-lag(延迟). When the car "sees" an obstacle(障碍物), it sends this information to a data center and receives instructions, However, it will be some time before it sends and receives this information. With this kind of lag, the cars might crash because they don't receive instructions in time. With 5G, this lag will be greatly lowered, making the cars safer. 5G could also be used to power the internet of things (IoT), that is, a large online network that connects all things and people. Fast internet speeds will be the key to developing this technology. The IoT could be used in a lot of ways. For example, with IoT, your refrigerator could automatically (自动地) place an order online for eggs when it finds that there are no eggs left inside. (1)Which city was 5G tested for the first time? A. Beijing. B. Shanghai. C. Shenzhen. (2)What can we infer(推测) according to the passage?. A. 5G is widely used in China now. B. 5G networks will make our lives more convenient. B Do you want to live a happier, less stressful life? Try laughing for no reason at all. That's how thousands of people start their day at Laughter (笑声)Clubs around the world and many doctors now think that having a good laugh might be one of the best ways to stay healthy. The first Laughter Club was started in Mumbai, India, in 1995 by Dr. Madan Kataria. "Young children laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh between 7 and 15 times a day," says Dr. Kataria. "Everyone is naturally good at laughing-it's the universal language. We want people to feel happy with their lives." There are now more than 500 Laughter Clubs in India and over l,300 in the world. Many doctors are also interested in the effects (效果) of laughter on our health. According to a 5-year study at the UCLA School of Medicine in California, with laughing there is less stress in the body. Laughter improves our health against illness by about 40%. So what happens at a Laughter Club? I went along to my nearest club in South London to find out. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the class, to be honest, I wasn't interested in laughing with a group of strangers, and I was worried about looking stupid. Our laughter teacher told us to clap our hands and say “ho ho ho, ha ha ha.” while looking at each other. However, our bodies can't tell the difference between real laughter and unreal laughter, so they still produce the same healthy effects. Surprisingly, it worked! After ten minutes everybody in the room was laughing for real and some people just couldn't stop! At the end of the class I was surprised by how relaxed-and comfortable I felt. So if you're under stress, then start laughing. You might be very pleased with the results! (1)The first Laughter Club was started in __________. A. India B. America C. Britain D.
