1.Introduction
1.1 The Definition of Seeking-root Culture in Literature
During 1980s, some writers turn their eye to Chinese culture, they try to revive Chinese traditional culture and profound cultural accumulation hidden in the deep heart of the Chinese by using the modern consciousness. From the relationship between literature and culture, seeking the root of national culture.
Main representative writers: Mo Yan, Han Shaogong, Wang Anyi.
1.2The Developments of Seeking-root Culture in Literature
In 1976, the African-American-- Alex Haley, published the novel Roots which initiate the African-American’s awareness to seeking their own ancestral land ,It boost the roots tide of overseas Chinese.
Seeking literary fiction can be traced back to the folk customs of the early 1980s. In 1978, zhang yi(one of the famous novelist in Taiwan) published his novel Source which caused a sensation. A number of Chinese from Hong Kong and Taiwan began their progress of seeking culture. Zengqi ordained(Ariake, Xiaoying child), Deng Youmei t he five.
In The mid-1980s, Themes of the roots literatures changed from marginalized pursue to a conscious action, it marked the truly entrance of the roots seeking-root literature. In this area , the work from Han Shaogong (Moon Orchid(1985),Bababa(1985), Womanwomanwoman (1985),
Deserted City(1989), and Intimations(2002). Wang Anyi and other writers also give their masterpieces in the filed of seeking root literature.
This tidal wave of Seeking-root Culture went through over 30 years. But it is declined and vanished in early 21st century. The work from Mo Yan-- Red Sorghum is the end of seeking root literature.

In 1985, Han Shaogong published the novella Bababa which became the representative work of the seeking-root Chinese literature. This masterpiece reveal the local Chinese child’s life. With the concept of deities , the whole novel reflect the mystique, symbolic and mutual permeability of the original culture. With its language features, it has the conciseness, figurativeness.

For the character of bingzai in this novel . he is the a symbol of the primitive and feudal lifestyle , a "living fossil of traditional culture",and the representative of the deep-rooted bad habits in Chinese culture.

In this novel, The emphasis of worship, famine, pestilence, death, can be seen as the metaphor of the poor material and spiritual culture systems. the nothingness of modern rational , the enclosed and single social structure in rural, the lagging production mode and shrinking ancient spirit consciousness. This non-modern civilization cultural way of life determines people’s sick and morbid way of thinking. This point to reveal and reflect the traditional culture negative, setting up a scientific attitude toward the disadvantage of national culture.
2.2.2 To seek for the deep understanding of the value of "man".
Important values of traditional Chinese culture is the "communion", it advocate the sacrifice "me" to achievement communion’s profits. the writer exposed, criticized the
traditional cultural repression to the personal values, calling for literature’s deep understanding and research toward the value of "man". So critics said: Roots-- in a sense, is also a self-seeking, man-seeking philosophy.

Second, many roots writers can not truly understanding the concept cultural . Some of them are used to grab one kinds of folk, deliberately sentimentalize it.Ignoring the real “anatomy ”of anatomy nationality.
As a result, when the writer intoxicated in the national culture "aesthetic", they were embarrassed to discover that although the work touches the traditional cultural implication, however, the things they "dig out" is not the "root" which can maintain the cultural vitality of five thousand years of civilization of the Chinese nation .Instead, it is the withered, rotten branches
3.Conclusion
Viewed of culture history，the root一seeking literature has gone forward in the form of "look back". It has gone to traditional culture and folk, while trapped into struggle between the west and the east . In the root一seeking literature, we not only see the traces of cultural conservatism，but feel the writer' s wish of the back home of the earth. They don't escape from urban civilization and modern society simply, back to pursue is a progressive retreat. In the seeking root, they exert their efforts to publicize a non-mainstream and pressed cultural vitality and strive to unearth the brightness of local civilization. They all expect a possibility of a culture. At least, local civilization is able to become a referred system and assisted resource for the forward developing society and human natural is undergoing change constantly.
Lacking of the powerful ideology guidance, the root一seeking literature filed unavoidable, but its influence left. There is no standard to measure whether a literature phenomenon good or not. Only we can do is when we reflect the process of the culture development, we can rearrange the culture heritages of the root一seeking literature and give it an objective comments, promoting the cultural prosperous.
