不可缠绕的心灵曹文轩

①我们的天性是自由的,但我们却会因为一些僵硬的知识的束缚而失去自由。

十二岁那年春天,我在田野上发现了一株很瘦弱的小树苗,便将它挖回来栽在菜园里。它一天一天地长大了,两年后就蹿成一米多高。春天来临,它的树干是亮灿灿的紫铜色。它长得结实而漂亮。再过两年,它就能挂果——我想。然而,两年后,它并没有如我所期盼的那样。我的小桃树再也没有长高,而且还显出奄奄一息的样子。记得那时我很难过。

②后来我终于找到了原因:我的老祖母借它为瓜架,在它的跟下种了丝瓜,那些刁钻的丝瓜藤就沿着它的树干攀缘而上。若是直上也罢了,却是像锁链那样一道道地把树干箍扎起来,对它千缠百绕。我把它们全扯掉了。第二年,桃树又生机勃勃地成长起来。那年,春寒料峭,它开花了。夏天,桃子成熟了,十分可爱。

③如果我们也像这株桃树一样,被僵硬的知识的藤蔓所缠绕,我们就会失去创造力,失去生命的光彩,甚至会精神窒息。

我小时候到全乡唯一的一所小学读书,要通过一条小路,小路两旁是空旷的麦田。我很怕冬天,尤其怕在冬日的清晨走上那条小路。干冷的北风迅疾地窜进我的袖管裤管,畅通无阻地一寸寸割过我的皮肤,那种寒冷的感觉我清楚地记得。

学校,同样让我感到寒冷。同学拒绝带我一起玩,他们常常把老师布置的作业一股脑地扔给我,留我一个人在教室里搓着冻僵的手一本一本地做。我知道我穷,衣衫破旧,又不会说话,很不讨人喜欢。说实话,我那时真是自卑。感觉自己就像是田埂边上的那一丛枯茅草,卑微地匍匐在凝满寒霜的泥土上,了无生机。

那个冬日的清晨,阳光似乎格外灿烂。靠窗坐着的孩子“来了来了”地喊着时,我看见一个微胖的中年男子一颠一颠地从阳光里走进教室。这是我们新来的数学老师,姓杨。那节课他提问同村卖豆腐家的二虎子:两点之间,线段短还是曲线短?二虎子抓耳挠腮答不出来。杨老师嗓门一下子大起来:在麦地里丢一块骨头,放开狗,那狗肯定是笔直地飞窜过去;两点之间,线段最短,狗都懂的道理……我一下子想起了家里养的小黑,每次我扔出一块饼子,小黑总是箭一般地窜过去。这个例子竟让我对杨老师生出一些崇拜,尽管他脸上少有笑容,我却在他身上感受到了一股子亲切。

我于是第一次喜欢上一个老师,连带着喜欢上了他教的数学。当伙伴们又把本子扔给我时,我心里竟充满了快乐。我快乐地一本本地算来算去,算着算着,我的数学就突飞猛进。我成了全班的焦点。伙伴们不再把本子随手扔给我,他们央求我把作业借给他们抄,然后把家里带来的好吃的塞在我的手里。清晨上学,二虎子主动在村口等我,常常会递给我一张煎饼,里面夹着几块豆腐。我咬着豆腐和二虎子在小路上一溜小跑,天气似乎不是那么太冷了。

快要放假时,下雪了。雪很大,一脚踩下去,齐到脚脖子。中午时我带了干粮,杨老师办公室有一个煤炭炉子,我可以在那上面热着吃。那天我走进办公室,炉子上正搁着一个小铝盆,满满一盆的白菜,还有牛肉;已经煮开了,几片红艳艳的牛肉在白菜间一跳一跳,发出快乐的“咕噜咕噜”声。我的嘴里不知从哪一下冒出了那么多口水,我艰难地咽下去,听见喉间“咕咚”一声。
