Part A Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. After you have heard each paragraph, interpret it into Chinese. Start interpreting at the signal.., and stop it at the signal...You may take notes while you are listening. Remember you will hear the passages ONLY ONCE. Now let us begin Part A with the first passage. It is a privilege to participate in this important conference, which takes place against the background of an initial strengthening of the global economic outlook.Led by China, the world economy now has the potential for a return to solid growth. The recovery is broadening and deepening, with all major regions showing improvement.Obviously,Asia is in the vanguard of the global recovery. This rising tide will also lift our country, and we expect growth in this country to accelerate in the coming year.// But we know that the recovery is still uneven, with growth relatively rapid in China,India, and the United States, but with the euro area lagging behind.Ensuring that the recovery is robust and sustained requires cooperation. And such cooperation should ensure that no region bears a disproportionate burden of adjustment. This requires major economic powers in the world to accelerate their pace of effective structural financial reform.1.Passage
1.“Often mistaken never in doubt.” That wry phrase describes us all more than we'd like to admit. The psychological study of misconceptions shows that all of us possess many beliefs that are flawed or flat-out wrong---and also that we cling to these fallacies with remarkable tenacity. As a result just hearing the correct explanation isn't enough. Most methods of instruction and training assume that if you provide people with the right information it will replace any mistaken information listeners may already possess. But especially when our previous beliefs(even though faulty) have proved useful to us and when they appear to be confirmed by everyday experience we are reluctant to let them go.Donna Alvermann a language and literacy researcher at the University of Georgia notes that in study after study "students ignored correct textual information when it conflicted with their previously held concepts. On measures of free recall and recognition the students consistently let their incorrect prior knowledge override incoming correct information." It's what our mothers called "in one ear and out the other." We have to actively disabuse ourselves or others of erroneous conceptions and research from cognitive science and psychology points the way. Although much of this research concerns misguided notions of how the physical world works the techniques it has produced can be used to correct any sort of deficient understanding.SSS_TEXT_QUSTI分值: 100答案:“经常出错,却从不质疑”。

PartB Passage 1: China, a country with a civilization of 5000 years, has contributed to the world its four major inventions, namely, the compass, gun-powder, paper-making and movable-type printing. Meanwhile, China has spread across the globe its knowledge and methods of traditional health care, for example, taijiquan boxing (or shadow boxing), static qigong breathing (or controlled deep breathing exercise) and therapeutic massage. // These health care methods are very effective not only in preserving physical health, but also in mental health and weight reduction. According to the theory of Chinese traditional medicine, maintaining a balance between the mind and the body and a harmonious state of balance between the yin and yang vital energy is essential for health. The practice of taijiquan and qigong is based on this theory. Passage 2: In the world today, as the economies of all countries and regions are closely interrelated, no country or region can develop in self-seclusion. The same is true with China. Therefore, we have taken it as a basic state policy to open wider to the outside world on the basis of self reliance. // A socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics is an open system with an open economy as its core. We will continue to improve the investment environment so that overseas investors will make profits. We are ready to assimilate and draw upon the science and technology and managerial experience that are useful to us. Part A Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. Once in four years they had a great sports game. Many thousands of people came together upon a wide plain to see the contests of skill among men and boys from all parts of Greece. The great games were running races, wrestling matches, horse races, and chariot races. There were games for boys as well as for men. The prize for winning a game seemed very simple: no more than a wild olive tree leave crown; but to wear one of these crowns was the greatest honor, and he went home covered with glory. Ancient athletes competed as individuals. The emphasis on individual athletic achievement through public competition was related to the Greek ideal of excellence. Sportsmen who attained this ideal, through their outstanding words or deeds, won permanent glory and fame.1.Passage

This, of course, has always been true: English has changed substantially in the 1500 years or so of its use, reflecting patterns of contact with other languages and the changing communication needs of people. But in many parts of the world, English acquires a momentum and vitality of its own, developing in ways which reflect local culture and languages, while diverging increasingly from the kind of English spoken in Britain or North America. // English is also used for more purposes than ever before. Everywhere it is at the leading edge of technological and scientific development, new thinking in economics and management, new literatures and entertainment genres. These give rise to new vocabularies, grammatical forms and ways of speaking and writing. Nowhere is the effect of this expansion of English into new domains seen more clearly than in communication on the Internet and the development of the net English.1.Passage

The essential purpose of it has never been about “usefulness”in a narrow sense of acquiring a specific, practical tool so as to make oneself marketable. In the words of my late college professor of philosophy, the purpose of higher education is for students to become broadly acquainted with cultural traditions and deeply appreciate them, so that it may help us become responsible citizens and good people in general. It is also about love—learning what one loves for the love of learning. Hence, it is “gloriously useless. “ As for me, there was no way of knowing which major or degree was going to be “useful. “And since then, everything around me is constantly changing. I have long forgotten the details of what I absorbed in classrooms and libraries. I did, however, learn how to think for myself, and that is invaluable in the workplace and outside of it.1.Passage

Shanghai men are said to be the best of husbands. They know how to win the favor of their wives and avoid conflicts so that happiness pervades their families. Shanghai men can be regarded as the symbol of social security and harmony. They are joyful whenever their wives are, thus filling the whole city of Shanghai with happiness. Shanghai men are jokingly called hen-pecked husbands. However, they will never yield to their wives but remain silent or smile away the quarrels. And they will apologize without hesitation shortly after they lose their temper, which is a rarity. Finally, their wives find themselves complying with what their husbands say. Shanghai men are smart and practical and even slippery, but what impresses most is that they are aggressive in their career and responsible to their families and respectful to females.

首句可以用It is said that„译出。 2. Shanghai men,who are said to be the best of husbands, know how to win the favor of their wives and avoid conflicts so that happiness pervades their families. 3.
Smile your tears away.
此外还可换用dismiss sth. with a laugh/smile或laugh off(to pretend that sth. is less serious than it really is by laughing or joking about it)。 7. “发火”的表达方式有多种,除lose temper之外,还有get angry、flare up、hit the ceiling、fly into a rage和go through the roof等多种。 8. 9.“务实”宜译为pragmatic(dealing with problems in a sensible, practical way instead of strictly following a set of ideas)。 10. “圆滑”亦可译为smooth and wily、slick and sly或tactful。 11. “有进取心”亦可译为enterprising(Someone who is enterprising shows the ability to think of new things to do and has an eagerness to do them)。 12.

1】The Chinese government attaches great importance to environmental protection. It believes that environmental protection has a bearing on the overall situation of China‟s modernization drive and its long-term development and that it is an undertaking which will not only benefit the Chinese people of today but also bring benefit to their children and grand children. The Chinese government has established environmental protection as a basic national policy. While promoting economic growth, it has adopted a series of measures to protect the environment. Especially in recent years, adhering to the principle of prevention first, comprehensive control, entire push-on and key-point breakthrough, Chinese government has made great efforts to solve those outstanding environmental problems that threaten people‟s health.
