Part A Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. After you have heard each paragraph, interpret it into Chinese. Start interpreting at the signal.., and stop it at the signal...You may take notes while you are listening. Remember you will hear the passages ONLY ONCE. Now let us begin Part A with the first passage. It is a privilege to participate in this important conference, which takes place against the background of an initial strengthening of the global economic outlook.Led by China, the world economy now has the potential for a return to solid growth. The recovery is broadening and deepening, with all major regions showing improvement.Obviously,Asia is in the vanguard of the global recovery. This rising tide will also lift our country, and we expect growth in this country to accelerate in the coming year.// But we know that the recovery is still uneven, with growth relatively rapid in China,India, and the United States, but with the euro area lagging behind.Ensuring that the recovery is robust and sustained requires cooperation. And such cooperation should ensure that no region bears a disproportionate burden of adjustment. This requires major economic powers in the world to accelerate their pace of effective structural financial reform.1.Passage
1.“Often mistaken never in doubt.” That wry phrase describes us all more than we'd like to admit. The psychological study of misconceptions shows that all of us possess many beliefs that are flawed or flat-out wrong---and also that we cling to these fallacies with remarkable tenacity. As a result just hearing the correct explanation isn't enough. Most methods of instruction and training assume that if you provide people with the right information it will replace any mistaken information listeners may already possess. But especially when our previous beliefs(even though faulty) have proved useful to us and when they appear to be confirmed by everyday experience we are reluctant to let them go.Donna Alvermann a language and literacy researcher at the University of Georgia notes that in study after study "students ignored correct textual information when it conflicted with their previously held concepts. On measures of free recall and recognition the students consistently let their incorrect prior knowledge override incoming correct information." It's what our mothers called "in one ear and out the other." We have to actively disabuse ourselves or others of erroneous conceptions and research from cognitive science and psychology points the way. Although much of this research concerns misguided notions of how the physical world works the techniques it has produced can be used to correct any sort of deficient understanding.SSS_TEXT_QUSTI分值: 100答案:“经常出错,却从不质疑”。

PartB Passage 1: China, a country with a civilization of 5000 years, has contributed to the world its four major inventions, namely, the compass, gun-powder, paper-making and movable-type printing. Meanwhile, China has spread across the globe its knowledge and methods of traditional health care, for example, taijiquan boxing (or shadow boxing), static qigong breathing (or controlled deep breathing exercise) and therapeutic massage. // These health care methods are very effective not only in preserving physical health, but also in mental health and weight reduction. According to the theory of Chinese traditional medicine, maintaining a balance between the mind and the body and a harmonious state of balance between the yin and yang vital energy is essential for health. The practice of taijiquan and qigong is based on this theory. Passage 2: In the world today, as the economies of all countries and regions are closely interrelated, no country or region can develop in self-seclusion. The same is true with China. Therefore, we have taken it as a basic state policy to open wider to the outside world on the basis of self reliance. // A socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics is an open system with an open economy as its core. We will continue to improve the investment environment so that overseas investors will make profits. We are ready to assimilate and draw upon the science and technology and managerial experience that are useful to us. Part A Directions: In this part of the test, you will hear 2 passages in English. Once in four years they had a great sports game. Many thousands of people came together upon a wide plain to see the contests of skill among men and boys from all parts of Greece. The great games were running races, wrestling matches, horse races, and chariot races. There were games for boys as well as for men. The prize for winning a game seemed very simple: no more than a wild olive tree leave crown; but to wear one of these crowns was the greatest honor, and he went home covered with glory. Ancient athletes competed as individuals. The emphasis on individual athletic achievement through public competition was related to the Greek ideal of excellence. Sportsmen who attained this ideal, through their outstanding words or deeds, won permanent glory and fame.1.Passage

This, of course, has always been true: English has changed substantially in the 1500 years or so of its use, reflecting patterns of contact with other languages and the changing communication needs of people. But in many parts of the world, English acquires a momentum and vitality of its own, developing in ways which reflect local culture and languages, while diverging increasingly from the kind of English spoken in Britain or North America. // English is also used for more purposes than ever before. Everywhere it is at the leading edge of technological and scientific development, new thinking in economics and management, new literatures and entertainment genres. These give rise to new vocabularies, grammatical forms and ways of speaking and writing. Nowhere is the effect of this expansion of English into new domains seen more clearly than in communication on the Internet and the development of the net English.1.Passage

The essential purpose of it has never been about “usefulness”in a narrow sense of acquiring a specific, practical tool so as to make oneself marketable. In the words of my late college professor of philosophy, the purpose of higher education is for students to become broadly acquainted with cultural traditions and deeply appreciate them, so that it may help us become responsible citizens and good people in general. It is also about love—learning what one loves for the love of learning. Hence, it is “gloriously useless. “ As for me, there was no way of knowing which major or degree was going to be “useful. “And since then, everything around me is constantly changing. I have long forgotten the details of what I absorbed in classrooms and libraries. I did, however, learn how to think for myself, and that is invaluable in the workplace and outside of it.1.Passage

We’ve developed technology that gets us so much information that we’ve got cell phones ringing every second, we’ve got computers and laptops, we’ve got personal organizers and we’re just being bombarded with communication and every advance in technology seems to create more and more communications at us. We are sort of overwhelmed by the information flow.Research suggests that all the multi-tasking may actually make our brains work better and faster, producing a world-wide increase in IQ up to 20 points and more in recent decades. Is there any real benefit in all these mental gymnastics we nowhave to go through? We’re not becoming a race of glob al idiots, but many do think certain skills are enhanced and certain are not. You know the ability to make fast decisions, to answer a dozen e-mails in five minutes, or to fill out maybe big aptitude tests. That’s enhanced. But when someone is out there wi th his kids playing in his little league or something like that, he’s got his cell phone in his pocket. He’s always wondering, “Gee, did I get a voicemail?” This might have negative effects on our own brain patterns.Creativity is something that happens slowly. It happens when your brain is just noodling around, just playing, when it puts together ideas which you hadn’t thought of, or maybe you have time to read a book. You are a businessperson but you have time to read a book about history, or about a philosopher and something that happened long ago or something or some idea somebody thought of long ago. Actually, it might occur to you that you can think of your own business in that way, and so it’s this mixture of unrelated ideas that feeds your produc tivity, feeds your creativity. And if your mind is disciplined to answer every e-mail, then you don’t have time for that playful noodling. You don’t have time for those unexpected conjunctions. So I think maybe we’re getting smarter in some senses, but over-communication is a threat to our creativity and to our reflection.Part B: Listening ComprehensionDirections: In this part of the test there will be some short talks and conversations. After each one, you will be asked same questions. 1、Topic:The information age and the promotion of China’s modernization2、Question for Reference:1. What do you know about the information age?2. Discuss the importance of information technology to China’s modernizati on.3. How could we prepare ourselves for the coming information revolution?二、口译题1、Part A (英译中)Passage 1:The 20th century has seen the rise and decline of a succession of industries in the United States. The automobile industry has had to struggle to meet the challenge of foreign competition. Many new industries have appeared. Many of the currently rising industries are among what are known as high-tech industries, because of their dependence on the latest developments in technology.∥High-tech industries tend to be highly automated and thus need fewer workers than traditional industries such as steel-making. As high-tech industries have grown and older industries have declined in recent years, the proportion of American workers employed in manufacturing has declined. Service industries—industries that sell a service rather than make a product—now dominate the economy.Passage 2:Like other degenerative diseases, heart disease is ordinarily present for a very long time in the body before obvious and drastic symptoms appear. In fact, for most young people in our country, heart often begins in their early twenties. It grows worseover the years until finally the inevitable heart attack strikes.∥For most people the first heart attack does not come until a certain age,say their fifties or sixties. But for thousands of people every year, the first heart attack comes in the twenties and occasionally even a person in his teens may experience a serious heart attack. In this way we can say that heart disease is more dangerous to the younger generation, since they are not at all prepared for it.2、Part B(中译英)Passage1:欢迎各位游览东海世界公园。

1.By most reasonable measures, reports of America’s declining power relative to the rest of the world have consistently p roved premature. The American economy increasingly seems to b e on an upswing. The United States remains among the world ’s safest and most attractive investments. The shale gas re volution is transforming the country into an energy giant of the future. The dollar, once slated for oblivion, seems de stined to remain the world’s reserve currency for some time to come. American military power, even amidst current budge t cuts, remains unmatched both in quantity and quality.Meanwhile, the anticipated “rise of the rest,”which other declinists celebrated a few years ago, has failed to mater ialize as expected. For all America’s problems at home –the fiscal crisis, political gridlock, intense partisanship, a nd weak presidential leadership –other great powers, from China to India to Russia to the EU, quite clearly have deb ilitating problems of their own, which in some cases promise to grow more severe in the years to come. Overall, the m uch-heralded return of a multipolar world of roughly equal great powers, as existed before World War II, has been delayed for at least a few more decades. In the absence of some u nexpected dramatic change, for the foreseeable future, the in ternational system will continue to be that of one superpowe r and several great powers, or as the late Samuel P. Hunti ngton once called it, “uni-multipolarity.”SSS_TEXT_QUSTI分值: 100答案:从诸多方面来看,那些将美国经济与世界其他经济体比较后得出美国经济日暮西山的结论,下得有点为时过早。

(Our society is organized in units),因此,妇女感觉到了“孤单”(isolation),而这份孤单感对人有负面心理作用(negative psychological effects)。

Shanghai men are said to be the best of husbands. They know how to win the favor of their wives and avoid conflicts so that happiness pervades their families. Shanghai men can be regarded as the symbol of social security and harmony. They are joyful whenever their wives are, thus filling the whole city of Shanghai with happiness. Shanghai men are jokingly called hen-pecked husbands. However, they will never yield to their wives but remain silent or smile away the quarrels. And they will apologize without hesitation shortly after they lose their temper, which is a rarity. Finally, their wives find themselves complying with what their husbands say. Shanghai men are smart and practical and even slippery, but what impresses most is that they are aggressive in their career and responsible to their families and respectful to females.

首句可以用It is said that„译出。 2. Shanghai men,who are said to be the best of husbands, know how to win the favor of their wives and avoid conflicts so that happiness pervades their families. 3.
Smile your tears away.
此外还可换用dismiss sth. with a laugh/smile或laugh off(to pretend that sth. is less serious than it really is by laughing or joking about it)。 7. “发火”的表达方式有多种,除lose temper之外,还有get angry、flare up、hit the ceiling、fly into a rage和go through the roof等多种。 8. 9.“务实”宜译为pragmatic(dealing with problems in a sensible, practical way instead of strictly following a set of ideas)。 10. “圆滑”亦可译为smooth and wily、slick and sly或tactful。 11. “有进取心”亦可译为enterprising(Someone who is enterprising shows the ability to think of new things to do and has an eagerness to do them)。 12.

1】The Chinese government attaches great importance to environmental protection. It believes that environmental protection has a bearing on the overall situation of China‟s modernization drive and its long-term development and that it is an undertaking which will not only benefit the Chinese people of today but also bring benefit to their children and grand children. The Chinese government has established environmental protection as a basic national policy. While promoting economic growth, it has adopted a series of measures to protect the environment. Especially in recent years, adhering to the principle of prevention first, comprehensive control, entire push-on and key-point breakthrough, Chinese government has made great efforts to solve those outstanding environmental problems that threaten people‟s health. It has persisted in institutional innovation, relied on technological advances, strengthened the role of law in environmental protection and brought into
