新中国成立后的翻译历史 姓名：学号：班级: 摘要：悠悠华夏上下五千年的文明史，同时也是一部翻译的历史。中国的翻译事业源远流长，有着悠久而灿烂的历史和传统，早在史前三皇五帝时代就存在翻译活动。在这一岁月的长河中，中华大地上曾出现过多次翻译高潮，每次翻译高潮的出现都带着自身显着的特点。翻译在我国自古以来就是一种“事业”，翻译不是受经济利益驱动或经济发展的产物，而是与政治、宗教等意识形态有关。历史上翻译高潮迭起，翻译家难以计数，翻译理论博大精深。了解历史不仅有助于我们继承我们的先人的优秀文化遗产，而且也有助于我们今天更加深入认识和发展我们的翻译事业。在这里，我们主要了解。本文试图对新中国成立后的翻译事业的特点和翻译成果进行探究和梳理，以期望让大家更好地了解这段特定时期的翻译发展史。 关键词：新中国，翻译，历史，翻译学家，成就。 中国翻译史概述 翻译作为人类社会普遍存在的一种语言活动与交流手段，有着悠久的历史。我们甚至可以说，在整个人类历史上，翻译几乎和语言本身一样古老。④“如果把手势语、图形文字之类的也算作语言，把符号翻译也算作翻译的话。那么，显然翻译的历史也就与语言的历史同时开始”①。虽然古代原始社会的口译或笔译无文献可查，但我们可以设想，在原始社会不同部落间的交流一定是离不开翻译的。以我国为例，据《周礼》和《礼记》记载，早在周代就已经有翻译的官职了，如《周礼·秋官》中说：“象胥，掌蛮夷闽貉戎秋狄之国使，掌传王之言而谕说焉，以和亲之。若以时入宾，则协其礼与其言辞传之”（马祖毅1998：2）。从这段记述来看，当时的“象胥”是一种官职，其职责就是翻译。 漫长的中国翻译史，大致可分为五个历史时期：东汉至唐宋的佛经翻译；明清之际的科学翻译；清末民初的西学翻译；“五四”至1949年前的社会科学和文学翻译；新中国成立后的翻译。 新中国成立后的翻译活动 新中国成立后，中国政府把目光投向了人民大众最需要了解的“大众文化”，即无产阶级文化。俄国的十月革命为中国送来了代表无产阶级利益的马列主义，前苏联社会政治书籍和文学作品成为新中国初期国家政治文化的意识形态基础和主要价值参照。此时的译者更多地把目光瞄准了能代表广大人民群众利益的作品，即“红色作品”。这种出版物有利于教育人民和打击“资产阶级”。在“红色作品”中，马列着作被放在了首位。“1953年1月成立了马列着作专门编译机构——中央编译局。它的任务是有系统有计划地翻译全部马列着作”②，因为这些译作将作为新中国的政治理论基础。 1949年新中国成立后，中国的翻译事业呈现出新的面貌，翻译作品在数量和质量上都有了飞跃的发展。1949年前，中国的翻译活动有着明显的“散兵游勇”式的个体翻译特征，而在1949年后，翻译成了有计划、有组织的活动，中国政府专门设立了翻译局等机构，系统地引进了马克思列宁主义经典着作、国外优秀的文学作品和科技文献等。正如矛盾在1954年的全国文学翻译工作会议上所指出的： 在过去，极大多数的文学翻译工作，是在分散的、自流的状态中进行的。从翻译工作者来说，翻译作品的选择，常常是凭借译者个人主观的好恶来决定的，而往往很少考虑所翻译的作品，是否值得翻译，是否于读者有益，为读者所迫切需要；有些译者甚至对自己是否胜任这一翻译，也考虑得很少。......我们的国家已进入社会主义建设和社会主义改

不增不减，只做词序调整。翻译佛经在五种情况下会失去本来面目，有三件事决定了译事是很不容易的，因此必须慎之又慎。 彦琮在其论着《辩正论》中提出了翻译要例“十条和对译者的要求“八备”” 彦琮（557—610年），俗姓李，邢台隆尧县双碑人，隋代著名高僧，他精通梵文， 也是我国佛教史上屈指可数的佛经翻译家和佛教著作家。《辩正论》里翻译要例八备十条：就是对做翻译人的具体要求和翻译要求。 鸠摩罗什开始提倡意译； 鸠摩罗什（梵语Kumārajīva ）（公元344 ~ 413 年），音译为鸠摩罗耆婆，又作鸠 摩罗什婆，简称罗什。其父名鸠摩罗炎，母名耆婆，属父母名字的合称，汉语的意思为“童寿”。东晋时后秦高僧，著名的佛经翻译家。与真谛（499—569）、玄奘（602～664）、并称为中国佛教三大翻译家。 慧远等人则对译文的风格和文体问题进行了一定的探索。 慧远，俗姓贾，雁门楼烦（约在今山西朔城区）人。出生于代州（约代县） 主张直译与意译、音译的结合，著有《三法度序》 真谛（449-569）梁陈时代人，翻译《摄大乘论》 古代佛经翻译（唐朝——全盛期） 古代佛经翻译（续） 主要译者多为本国人，他们除了精通佛理以外还精通梵汉两种语言，其译作在质量和数量上都大大超过了前两个阶段。加上唐朝统治者的重视和支持，这一阶段的译经活动达到顶峰，出现了玄奘、不空、义净等著名的僧人译经家。 玄奘提出了佛经翻译中著名的“五不翻”的原则，并为译经者进行了十一种详细的分工。 鸦片战争至甲午战争前 著名的禁烟英雄林则徐决心“师夷之长技以制夷”，开始“日日使人刺探西事，翻译西书”，被誉为“组织翻译活动的先驱”。语言学家马建忠在其《拟设翻译书院议》一文中留下了一些有关翻译的论述。他提出有三类书籍急需翻译，并指出“需要择其善者译之“。此外，他在总结了当时译文中常见的不足之后提出了所谓“善译”的翻译标准，要求译文与原文之间“无毫发出入于其间”。 近代翻译

第35 课翻译史--中国翻译简史 我国的翻译有着数千年的历史。打开这一翻译史册，我们可以看到翻译高潮迭起， 翻译家难以计数，翻译理论博大精深。了解这一历史不仅有助于我们继承我们的 先人的优秀文化遗产，而且也有助于我们今天更加深入认识和发展我们的翻译事 业。简单说来，中国的翻译史大致可以分为以下几个阶段：一、汉代-秦符时期； 二、隋-唐-宋时期；三、明清时期；四、五四时期；五、新中过成立至今。 一、汉代-秦符时期 中国的翻译活动可以追溯到春秋战国时代。当时的诸侯国家相互之间交往就 出现了翻译，如楚国王子去越国时就求助过翻译。当然这种翻译还谈不上是语际 翻译。中国真正称得上语际翻译的活动应该说是始于西汉的哀帝时期的佛经翻 译。那时有个名叫伊存的人到中国来口传一些简单的佛经经句。到了东汉桓帝建 和二年（公元一八四年），佛经翻译就正式开始了。译者安世高是安息（即波斯）
人，他翻译了《安般守意经》等三十多部佛经。后来月支人支娄迦谶（又叫娄迦 谶）来到了中国，他翻译了十多部佛经。支娄迦谶译笔生硬，基本上是字对字、 句对句地翻译，中国读者不易看懂。中国翻译界现在的直译和意译之争大概就是 从这个时候开始的。支娄迦谶有个学生叫支亮，之亮有个弟子叫支谦。他们三人 号称"三支"，是当时翻译佛经非常有名的译者。与"三支"同时从事佛经翻译的还 有竺法护。他也是月支人，是当时的佛经翻译名家，总共译了一百七十五部佛经， 对佛经在中国的流传贡献不小。竺法护和"三支"一道被人称作月之派。不过，这 一时期的佛经翻译活动还只是民间私人事业。 到了符秦时代，佛经翻译活动就组织有序了。当时主要的组织者是释道安。 在他的主持下设置了译场，开始了大规模的佛经翻译。由于释道安本人不懂梵文， 惟恐译文失真，因此他主张严格的词对词、句对句(word for word, line for line)的 直译。当时的佛经《鞞婆沙》就是按此方法从梵文译成汉语的。为了把
