A

All of us in Monte Vista Christian Schoolknow we’ll one day have graduation photos for the yearbook taken. As the time approaches, the girls start to have a discussion about what they’ll wear

and where to take the photos, while the boys, by comparison, hardly talk about it. As for me,

I arranged for my photos to be taken by the sea.

When I arrived there, I met my photographer, Annie. She asked me to make some poses and

I followed her advice. After that, I asked if she could make me look taller by takings photo in a different way, since I’m less than 1.6 meters tall. To my astonishment she responded, “I will make

no attempt to make you look like someone you’re not. You look good in your own way.”

She added that she wouldn’t try to edit the photos either.

I was shocked by what she said. Girls always desire to look perfect by using different visual angles. When you go to a photo studio, photographers always try to hide your imperfections by telling you to stand in a certain way. And picture editors can easily transform your look by making you appear any you want to.However, that’s not the case here. Seeing I was confused, Annie explained, “Everyone has his uniqueness. You need to admire your own beauty. You cannot live in a world

of artificial photos.”

It was the first time that I had met a photographer who doesn’t polish photos at all. After the shoot, I saw the photos — they are truly special and natural. But what’s even more special are Annie’s words, which will always stay in my heart.

21.Why did the students want to have their photos taken?

A. Because they themselves couldn’t make perfect poses.

B. To make them look more beautiful in the photos.

C. Because of a book published annually by the graduating class.

D. Because they will graduate soon.

22. How did the author’s attitude towards the photographer, Annie change?

A. From being angry to being shocked.

B. From being shocked to being disapproval.

C. From being angry to being admirable.

D. From being shocked to being approval.

23. According to this passage, which of the followings can be predicted?

A. The author will have her photos taken by Annie only.

B. The author will never hide her imperfections in her photos.

C. The author will have her photos taken in a natural way.

D. The author will have her photos taken in a special way.

B

Living on the ground floor of a dormitory has certain advantages over living on the top floor. On the ground floor, everything is readily accessible. You can come in and out as often as you like, whereas on the top floor you always have those long flights of stairs between you and your destination. On the ground floor you’re directly at the center of things, while on the top floor you’re somewhat isolated. On the ground floor, you meet new people and will probably do activities with them. On the top floor, you have just a few people on your floor, and if they are not your kind of people, you can be quite lonely. Also, if you are a bike rider like me, you can wheel your bike into your room downstairs, whereas on the top floor you have to dismantle it, bang it up the stairs, or more likely, make other arrangements for locking it up somewhere.

The disadvantages of living downstairs may convince you that living upstairsis a more agreeable way to live on campus. There is constant traffic downstairs, while upstairs see nobody who doesn’t come up for a special purpose. Downstairs is constant noise from conversations, passers-through, and ever-lasting interruptions for information: “Did you see Amelia?” “Which room is Twitch Laski in?” “Do you happen to know where we sign up for the room lottery?” In your downstairs room you can hear the gate slamming all night, while upstairs you can’t hear it all. Your bathroom downstairs will be visited by many strangers, while upstairs you and your roommates will have privacy. If you are interested in aesthetics(美学), forget a downstairs room. Upstairs your view is wide open. Your eyes can move from the quad out to the foothills of the mountains, and take in the beauty of the seasons.

24.If you live downstairs, you have the following advantages except _______.

A. you have easy access to everything.

B. you know what’s going on, you meet new people.

C. you will be bothered by constant interruptive noise.

D.you put away you bike conveniently.

25. Which is the following phrases is the closest to the meaning of the underlined word“dismantle”?

A. to end a system gradually in an organized way

B. to take apart a machine or structure so that it is in separate pieces

C. to pull or knock down a building

D. to destroy something accidentally

26.Which of the following persons is the most suitable to live on the top floor?

A. A shyart-specialized student

B. An adaptable new-comer

C. A sociable party girl

D. A dynamic monitor

Huawei has launched its foray(突袭,进军)into foldable smart phones, with the Huawei Mate X officially revealed at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain as a competitor to Samsung's Galaxy Fold.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fold announcement isn’t even a week old yet, and we already have a competitor that is thinner, has a bigger screen, and folds flatter. The company’s CEO of consumer business, Richard Yu said, “We bring you the future of design, the future of technology.”

Unlike the Samsung folding phone, the Galaxy Fold, which opens inwards, like a book, the Huawei phone opens outwards with the help of a patented hinge(n. Given this different functionality, Huawei has made this device incredibly thin. When open, it is 5.4mm thick, and when closed it’s only 11mm. Huawei compares this to the “other folding phone” which is 6.9mm when open.

The phone will run on Huawei’s Kirin 980 processor and Balong 5000 chipset, which supports 5G. The company said the super-fast chipset will allow users to download a 1 gigabyte movie in just 3 seconds, which will help “change the world that we currently know”.

The device boasts of two column browsing or multi-window use. The lopsidedness(不匀称) of Huawei's folded displays are due to a vertical camera bar that runs along the back of the phone—a 40 MP main camera, a 16 MP wide angle lens, and an 8 MP telephoto—and an LED flash, and a power button..

It features a camera system that can play the role of both front and rear cameras. It also offers mirror shooting that lets you see the picture while you take it.

To power the phone, the device has double batteries which make up 4,500mAH. It also features Huawei's new Super Charge 55W to make this device the fastest charging phone in the industry. You should be able to get 85 percent power off a mere 30-minutes of charging.

The Huawei launch drew huge crowds. Fans queued outside the venue hours before the kickoff

and those who couldn't get in watched the event outside on a big screen. At times, they burst into excited applause.

“The Mate X clearly shows that Huawei is a technology innovation leader. The new device has nothing to envy to Samsung's latest Galaxy Fold announcement.” said Thomas Husson, an analyst at Forrester Research.

27. Which smartphone does the Huawei company refer to when they make mention for “the other folding phone” in Paragraph 3?

A. the Galaxy Fold

B. Huawei's new Super Charge 55W

C. other folding smartphones

D. the MateBook X Pro

28.Which of the following statements is true according to this report?

A.The Huawei foldable phone, Mate X, opens like a book with the help of a hinge.

B. Mate X’s 5G capacity would help “change the world that we currently know”.

C. Mate X has two column browsing , which are of the same size when folded.

D. You can discharge 85 percent power in only half an hour.

29. How many Mate X’ advantages over other smartphones are listed in this report?

A. 4

B.5

C.6

D.7

30.Which of the following is the best title for this passage?

A. A thinner, larger and flatter smartphone.

B. Huawei’s latest smartphone.

C. Unfold the future.

D. Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain

Students who have used electronic cigarettes by the time they start ninth grade are more likely than others to start smoking traditional cigarettes and other tobacco products within the next year, according to a new study funded by the National Institutes of Health. E-cigarettes deliver nicotine to the lungs by heating a liquid solution that contains nicotine and other chemicals to produce an aerosol(气雾剂) that the user inhales(吸入), a process often called “vaping.”

The study surveyed 2530 students from 10 public high schools in Los Angeles, comparing tobacco use initiation among 222 students who had used e-cigarettes, but not tobacco products, and 2,308 who had neither used e-cigarettes nor tobacco products when initially surveyed at the start of ninth grade. During the first six months after being surveyed, 30.7 percent of those who had used e-cigarettes started using tobacco products, such as cigarettes, and cigars, compared to only 8.1 percent of those who had never used e-cigarettes. Over the following six months leading into the start

of 10th grade, 25.2 percent of e-cigarette users had used tobacco products, compared to just 9.3 percent of nonusers.

“While teen tobacco use has fallen in recent years, this study confirms that we should continue to vigilantly(警惕地) watch teen smoking patterns,” said NIDA Director Nora. “Parents and teens should recognize that although e-cigarettes might not have the same carcinogenic(致癌的) effects of regular cigarettes, they do carry a risk of addiction.”

“Recreational(娱乐的) e-cigarette use is becoming increasingly popular among teens who have never smoked tobacco. Adolescents who enjoy the experience of inhaling nicotine via e-cigarettes could be more likely to try other nicotine products, including smokable tobacco,” said Adam M. Leventhal, Ph.D., the first author on the study. “While we cannot conclude that e-cigarette use directly leads to smoking, this research raises concerns that recent increases in youth e-cigarette use could ultimately keep the epidemic(传染,流行) of smoking-related illness.”

21.A【解析:由第二段中“Zac knows the meaning of a Purple Heart-he earned one himself in a war as a soldier”可知,Zac 的紫心勋章是他自己得到的。 由Zac的话“To drive eight hours to come to see me”也可猜测到Zac能理解Adeline对于勋章的重视程度。】 24.C【解析:no strings attached指“无附加条件;不求回报”;without conditions意为“无条件”,故选C。由后文“Give What You Can”和“many others pinned their own cash to the board”也可体现。】 25.B【解析:前文说“People of all ages, races, and socio-economic(社会经济的)backgrounds”可知有很多人都参与到了这个项目中。 26.D【解析:由文章最后Bridges的话“Some days you need a helping hand and some days you can be the one giving the helping hand.” 由“...have been rising temperatures, which cause trees to lose more water to the air, and earlier snowmelt, which reduces the water supply...” 31.C【解析:由下一句中“At that time”可知此处应该谈及时间段。】 35.E【解析:空前一句是感谢the Beatles为rock and roll做出的卓越贡献,故表现the Beatles 对其他乐队影响的E项更符合文章思路。】

2018年浙江省杭州高中高考英语最后一卷 副标题 一、阅读理解(本大题共10小题,共25.0分) A One day your pocket might power your smart phone.Soon you may never have to worry about your smart phone running out of juice.Your clothing will simply power it back up for you. That's the word from scientists at China's Chongqing and Jinan Universities in a study just published in the journal ACS Nano. Researchers have been hard at work during the last few years trying to create wearable energy,or clothes that can charge things. The assumption is simple.People today rely heavily upon devices such as smart phones and tablets. And they're looking for ways to recharge these devices on the go.So if you could design clothing fabric that could make use of solar power -one of the most widely available and inexhaustible renewable energy sources - you'd be able to charge your various devices with ease. Scientists have had some past success creating energy-harvesting fibers. But there was always one problem when they tried to fashion these threads into self-powered smart clothes:The fibers they designed got damaged during the clothing manufacturing process, namely during the weaving and cutting. The Chongqing and Jinan University scientists say they've solved this problem because the energy-collecting and energy-storing threads they created are highly flexible - each individual thread is easily bendable, and not simply the fabric as a whole. The team's sample textile can be fully charged to 1.2 volts in 17 seconds by exposure to sunlight - enough voltage that your future smart T or smart dress might be able to power small electronics. It's durable, too;their research showed there was no descent in the fabric after 60 days. But don't worry that this means the fabric is similar to rough cloth. The scientists note their textile can be fashioned into numerous different patterns, and tailored into any designed shape, without affecting performance. 1.What does the underlined phrase "running out of juice" in paragraph 1mean?______ A. Being lacking in energy. B. Wanting to have some juice. C. Being picked out of a drink. D. Having some water running out. 2.Why could smart dress charge a phone?______ A. A solar cell is attached to the dress. B. The fabric of the textile contains current. C. The fabric of the textile is easily bendable. D. The fabric of the textile could collect and store the solar energy. 3.What is the scientists' attitude towards the scientific technology?______ A. Optimistic. B. Pessimistic. C. Neutral. D. Doubtful.
