帮助学生学习英语的好助手──思维导图

我市沪教版《英语》中每个单元的Listen and say, say and act/enjoy the story都是新授课，需要先掌握重点词汇和句型，再实现小短文的突破，它们之间联系紧密。首先，怎样使这些知识在学生的头脑中形成一个整体概念，帮助学生很好地把握这个单元的重难点呢？其次，课本每个单元都有自己的主题，而单元之间的融合练习少，不利于学生产生联想和产生单元间的信息交流。如何能穿插运用各单元之间的知识，形成知识链，对学生整体理解和运用语言起到更好的效果呢？第三，教材中的英语知识采用的是螺旋上升大循环复现的方式，例如：各年级在不同阶段学习过有关不同食物的话题，到六年级在healthy or unhealthy 中集中应用有关食物的知识。但时间间隔很长，怎样能迅速地激起大脑的储存记忆，在不同册之间建立联系，提高学习效率呢？第四，怎样在教学中使学生对所学知识形成有效分类，理解上更迅速，更清晰，提高课堂教学效果呢？最后，目前学生功课很多，如何帮助他们找到即节省时间又有效记忆和复习的好方法呢？
2005年开始我校以“友善用脑”为主题进行教科研实践活动，在此过程中，本人发现有一种方法可以解决这些问题，这就是思维导图！
二、研究的背景
1. 理论依据
本文基于《友善用脑──加速学习新方法》一书中关于“记忆参照物”“思维导图”的内容和海淀教师进修学校王思锦老师提供的关于思维导图的理论为前提，以使用思维导图来调动学生的各个感官，帮助学生学习，使学生能最大限度地发挥大脑的潜能。
2. 理论背景
思维导图是表达发射性思维的有效的图形思维工具。思维导图运用图文并重的技巧，把各级主题的关系用相互隶属与相关的层级图表现出来，把主题关键词与图像、颜色等建立记忆链接，思维导图充分运用
左右脑的机能，利用记忆、阅读、思维的规律，协助人们在科学与艺术、逻辑与想象之间平衡发展，从而开启人类大脑的无限潜能。简单的说思维导图就是用图形比较方便地表达出自己的想法。
英国教育学家托尼·巴赞（Tony Buzan）在大学时代，在遇到信息吸收、整理及记忆等困难，前往图书馆寻求协助，却惊讶地发现没有教导如何正确有效使用大脑的相关书籍资料，于是开始思索和寻找新的思想或方法来解决。
她从研究心理学、神经生理学等科学开始，渐渐地发现人类头脑的每一个脑细胞及大脑的各种技巧如果能被和谐而巧妙地运用，将比彼此分开工作产生更大的效率。这个看似微小的发现，却产生了令人意想不到的满意发展。托尼·巴赞发现以放射性思考（Radiant Thinking）为基础的收放自如方式，比如：渔网、河流、树、树叶、人和动物的神经系统、管理的组织结构等，逐渐地，整个架构慢慢形成。
1971年托尼·巴赞开始将他的研究成果集结成书，慢慢形成了发射性思考（Radiant Thinking）和思维导图法（Mind Mapping）的概念。思维导图是大脑放射性思维的外部表现。依据大脑思维放射性特点，思维导图利用色彩、图画、代码和多维度等图文并茂的形式来增强记忆效果，使人们关注的焦点清晰地集中在中央图形上。思维导图允许学习者产生无限制的联想，这使思维过程更具创造性。
3. 研究目的
本研究旨在通过教会学生使用思维导图来帮助我所教的学生清晰地理解所学英语知识；帮助他们对英语知识在不同单元，不同册之间产生联想和信息交流，形成知识链；帮助学生把握单元的重难点，既节省时间又有效提高记忆和复习效果。将学习者的主要精力集中在关键的知识点上，而不需要浪费时间在那些无关紧要的内容上，节省了宝贵的学习时间。
三、采取的具体措施及效果
（一）思维导图使学生更清晰地理解知识
1. 利用思维导图分类，胜于讲解
五年级下册书中第10单元学习“do things（做事）”，本单元的功能句是：What chores do you have to do? 它涉及到chores家务和非家务活动。那么帮助学生区分这两个概念就成为了本单元的重点。思维导图可以轻而易举的解决这个问题。
它在帮助学生分析问题，整理思路方面都起到了积极的有效的作用，相对于文字的说明表达方式显得更加有成效。
2. 利用思维导图列提纲，胜于言语
上图是六年级下学期的写作题。英文作文一直是英语教学中让教师头痛的教学部分。课堂上我与学生们一起通过讨论制出了思维导图。
“今天我们的写作内容是写一位著名人物（a famous people），侧重点会有所不同，我们该从哪些方面介绍呢？”我与学生对导图进行顺时针整理，整理出的顺序就是写作的顺序。（如图1）
在动笔写作之前，我会强调：根据题目要求，今天你要介绍的这个人物至少要写出他的姓名，职业和他著名的原因。其他方面，你可以任选。同时在黑板上将这三方面的图标向外拉出。（如图2）
学生们根据思维导图和书上的例文开始自己的写作。能力弱的一些学生完成了书中最基本的三个方面，其他学生根据自己的能力分别写出了长短不同的小作文。
当有多个意念要求我们去选择及做出决定时，思维导图可以帮助我们更全面及清晰地明白这些问题。首先将需要考虑的因素，目标，限制，后果及其他可行性，用思维导图划出来．再将所有因素以重要程度或喜恶加权，最后尝试做出决定．
3. 利用思维导图总结单元知识，提高记忆和复习效果
六年级时学生们遇到了“In China”这个单元。这个单元涉及了我国的一些名胜古迹及其地理位置和所在的省份，学生们对我国的地理知识知道的很少，尤其是搭配古迹和所在省份，以及正确表达位置成为了难题。作者引导学生们绘制了思维导图帮助他们记忆（图3，图4）。通过课堂实验和检测表明，通过刺激学生的感官的思维导图，对学生的记忆起到了事倍功半的作用。思维导图的设计极为简单，而且结构清晰，层次分明，便于对信息的组织和管理，因而可以帮助记忆。关键词和图像的应用，促使人们使用个人所有的联想能力，思维导图本身的形状加强了大脑物理印迹和网络开发能力，因此就增加了回忆的可能性。
在学习其他单元时，学生们也用绘制思维导图的方法，帮助自己记忆和复习（图5，图6）。这样，不仅将所学知识简单化，还将自己本身不曾接触的东西可视化。
最近网上有一段很火的视频——地理老师改编的《小苹果》之《大中国》，让我很受启发。这老师能准确把握学生的喜好，改编地理版的《小苹果》，可谓用心良苦，与时俱进！让学生爱上小苹果，爱上地理课，实现了爱的正迁移！那如何能让孩子们爱上英语作业，一改过去拖拖拉拉、漫不经心的毛病，变得爱不释手，争先恐后呢？这就需要我们为学生量身订做一些“立体”的作业，把作业变得生动起来，让学生享受完成作业的过程，同时发挥潜能，提高语言的运用能力，让英语作业真正成为课堂教学的延伸。
一、尊重个体差异，设计自选作业。
《英语课程标准》指出：“要注重从学生的实际情况、个别差异出发，注重因材施教，有的放矢地进行有差别的教学，是每个学生都能得到最佳发展。”因此，在布置英语作业时，既要考虑学生的共性，也要兼顾每个学生的个性，可以打破单一作业的模式，增强作业的弹性，让学生根据自己的兴趣、特长、爱好选择作业。
例如，在教学6A Module1 Unit1 Growing up中listen and say，要求能询问和介绍某人不同成长阶段的年龄和外貌特征。我向学生提供作业超市：1、抄写重点词语和句型，跟读课文录音。（1分）2、建立成长档案。选择自己的成长照片或画图，并配文字说明，要求图文相符。（2分）3、跟自己的搭档相互介绍成长档案，作为下节课的课前展示环节。（5分）在介绍成长档案的环节，用照片创设真实的语境，让学生进一步巩固句型: She/He was…; Her/His hair was…; Her/His eyes were….学生可根据分值和自己的能力、爱好自主选择作
业，做作业的积极性有了明显提高，有更多的学生在完成作业的过程中体验到学习的快乐。
二、增强用英语做事情的能力，设计实践性作业
实践性作业以培养学生实际动手、动脑为抓手，以调动学生主观能动性为载体，以增强学生用英语做事情的能力为宗旨。可分为口头作业和手头作业。
1、口头作业。
央视小记者：既要有采访，又要有报道。此活动既能培养学生的交际和操作能力，更容易激发学生的求知欲。例如4A Module1 Unit 2 Can you swim? 要求熟练掌握Can…?询问能力并作出正确应答，正确区分she/he，会描述他人的能力。在学生掌握了句型后，我布置了“央视小记者”的课后任务：要求在小组内（人名自定）做调查，填写调查表，写简单的调查报告，并作课前展示。有人采访姚明、Jackson 等，兴致高涨。Hello, Jackson. Can you …? In my group, four people can ... 在完成任务的过程中，学生既锻炼了语言表达能力，又达到了小练笔的目的。
2、手头作业
孩子活泼好动，心灵手巧，动手能力强。“做一做”的作业既有较强的活动性与趣味性，又能使作业生活化。例如6A Module 1 Unit 2 My summer holiday要求会介绍过去某段时间内的活动，会评价暑假生活情况。掌握句型：How was your summer holiday? It was fun. I visited ... I also ... We ... 等。课后作业：Make a postcard.（制作明信片）
要求有贴图，有文字说明，注意书写格式，图文相符。正巧我们班有位同学暑假送哥哥上大学，去了长城，他很自豪的展示了他的作品。这些具有启发性和趣味性的作业，既能培养学生的动手能力，又能引导学生总结、归纳、整理所学知识，还可以提高学生学习和运用英语的能力。
三、激发创新能力，设计创造性作业
1、演童话、编童话
创造性作业就是引导学生根据已有的知识，通过改、说、唱等形式再现、拓展、延伸文本内容，或根据课文对话、故事情节进行画童话、写童话等活动，这正符合我校的特色——童话教学。例如，教学3A Module 1 Unit 3 Story 《The wolf and the sheep 》，在三年级出神入化的演绎了披着羊皮的狼在牧羊人的棍棒下，应声倒地，惹得大家捧腹大笑。我知道那句经典台词You are not a sheep! You are a wolf !已经深入人心！在六年级wolf and sheep又成了好朋友，一起讨论它们的Summer holiday, 并交换名片作为礼物。啧啧称赞声不断，这正是对小演员们的肯定和鼓励。
2、办黑板报
《英语新课标》指出：“教师要把凡是学生能够自己独立做的事情都给学生留出空间，让学生有时间、有机会去选择、去思考、去体验、感悟；去创造、实践、应用。”教师可根据教学的主题内容让高年级学生编辑英语报或黑板报。例如万圣节（Halloween）、圣诞节(Christmas)等，让学生收集相关的知识办报，更好地体会英美文化，
感受异域风情。学习了4A Unit 3 Are you happy? 让学生画出表情秀，并配上单词，在黑板报上展示。同学们能画的画，能写的写，还有人负责检查错误，忙的不亦乐乎。这种活动不仅增强了班级凝聚力、荣誉感，也有利于学生阶段性学习的总结和巩固，为英语学习提供了展示的平台。
相信如果英语作业能让孩子们体会到更多的成功和喜悦，更多的认可和关注，他们没理由不爱上英语作业！
