We sleep with them, eat with them and carry them in our pockets. But phone love can go too far — so far that it can reduce human love — between parents and children, wives and husbands, teachers and students, our friends and us.“A key to a healthy relationship is being present,” said James Roberts, a famous writer. He says that many people are addicted to their smartphones and as if they can’t live without phones. When one partner keeps checking his or her phone, it means that they find the phone (or what’s on it) more interesting than you.A 2016 study investigated(调查) 200 people about the influence of phones on their relationship. The result showed that70 percent of them said that smartphones affected their primary relationship. More than one-third saidtheir partner would notice their phones while talking, one out of four said their partner send messages during conversations. They may not know what to do about it, but they are willing to change. People turn off their phones when they are in class or at a meeting. Here are some suggestions to leave your phone long enough to connect with your family.●Set “no phone” areas in your home. With your family, decide which areas of your home, such as the living room and the kitchen, should be technology-free. And consider stopping phone use in the car so that you can use that time to talk to your family about whatever is on your mind.●Buy some old-fashioned alarm clocks for your bedside table. Put your phones in a basket in the kitchen.●Keep phones off the table. When you’re eating at home or in a restaurant, keep phones off the table. When a phone was present during a conversation, the partners usually feel less satisfied with their conversation than when phones were absent.●Practice phone manners. If you must look at your phone, announce that you are doing so. “I am just checking the score/weather/playlist for two minutes,” shows sorry to your partner that you are aware that your attention is away. It may also make you more aware of how often you pick up your phone when your partner is present.1.What is the purpose for the author to write this passage?A.To warn people not to use smartphones any more.B.To suggest people using smartphones properly and politely.C.To encourage more people to use smartphones at conversation.D.To show us the importance of smartphones in the modern world.2.According to a 2016 survey, about of the people being investigated said their partner would notice their phones while talking.A.200 B.140 C.70 D.503.What does the author advise you to do if you must use your phone while talking to your partner?A.Set “no phone” areas in your home B.Buy an old-fashioned alarm clockC.Keep phones off the table. Do the same thing in the countryside or from a mountaintop, and you’ll see a lot more of them. Just how many stars are there in space? You could try counting them yourself if you want, but it’s probably a better idea to ask the experts at the European Space Agency (ESA). It has come up with its own estimates (估计) on the number of stars in our universe (宇宙).According to the ESA, there could be as many as 1022 to 1024 stars in the universe. However, this is only an estimate. Remember that Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity tells that time is not continuous. So experts might be counting stars and galaxies (星系) that disappeared a long time ago. This number includes stars that are much larger than our sun, and others that are much smaller. It considers trillions (万亿) of galaxies that are spread out across our universe. Someof these galaxies are considered to be Dwarf Galaxies because they have as few as 10 million stars. Others are Giant Galaxies because they have more than a trillion stars. The ESA estimate also includes the Milky Way, and it is our home galaxy. According to ESA scientists, it is made up of at least 100 billion stars. In fact, our sun is a medium-sized star in it. It is a member of the white cloud of stars which can sometimes be seen across a moonless night sky. Many stars have planets around them. In fact, some scientists believe that there are as many planets as stars out there. Perhaps there is life on these planets, just waiting to be discovered. If that’s it, maybe there are a few alien scientists who can give us an exact answer about the number of stars in the universe.8.How many stars do Giant Galaxies have?A.1022 to 1024.B.10 million.C.More than a trillion.D.At least 100 billion.9.What does “it” in Para.4 refer to?A.The planet.B.The ESA.C.The Milky Way.D.The star. 10.What can we infer from the passage?A.We know the exact number of stars from alien scientists.B.Einstein’s Theory of Relativity tells the number of the stars.C.There are different galaxies according to the number of stars.D.The European Space Agency gives us exact numbers of the stars.11.What’s the best title of this passage?A.A New Star is Born in space.B.Count the uncountable stars.C.Welcome to the Milky Way.D.The European Space Agency. Many people have the impression (印象) that sharks are man-eating monsters (怪兽) that pull swimmers down to eat them. This is far from the truth, however, and has largely been made by Hollywood movie producers who use this false image to add the feeling of fear and danger to their movies. In fact, many sharks will only feed on already dead animals. Some, like the huge whale shark, have no teeth and are harmless to nearly everything. Out of over 470 kinds of sharks, only some will attack (攻击) humans: the great white shark, oceanic whitetip shark, tigershark, and bull shark. These kinds of huge and powerful sharks can cause serious injuries. However, these usually avoid humans as we are not a part of their natural diet. In most cases of shark attacks, the shark mistakes a human for marine mammal (海洋哺乳动物). After taking a bite (咬), it usually will soon know its mistake and stop attacking a human. The number of shark attacks every year is about four, and if you compare this to the number of sharks killed each year by humans over a hundred million —it’s the sharks who should be scared of us, not the other way around.More than 600 people die every year from snake bite in Sri Lanka alone. Falling fruits kill about 150 people every year, and about 40,000 Americans die each year in car accidents. Experts even say that you are far more likely to die from a bee than a shark attack. So what does this mean? Like all dangerous animals, sharks must be well treated, but in fact, they are nothing like the killing machines that they are made out to be in the movies. Sharks are amazing animal. They’ve been around for over 420 million years, and they have excellent problem-solving skills. It’s time we stop seeing sharks as sea monsters. 12.What causes our wrong impression of sharks?A.The huge whale sharks.B.Some Hollywood Movies.C.The sharks’ natural diet.D.The number of shark attacks.13.What can we know about sharks?A.Only four kinds of sharks may attack humans.B.Whale sharks are harmful to nearly everything.C.About four sharks are killed by humans each year.D.Some sharks still eat humans after they know mistakes.14.Why does the writer use a lot of numbers in Para.3?A.To show people are easy to die.B.To show accidents are everywhere.C.To show car accidents are serious.D.To show sharks are not so dangerous.15.What’s the last paragraph mainly about?A.Sharks are like dangerous animals.B.Sharks are great sea animals.C.Humans should be scared of sharks.D.Sharks are good for humans.二、阅读还原6选5阅读下面的短文,从所给的选项中选择合适的小标题填入第31-35小题(选项中有一项是多余选项)。

Some get rid of nap time. They think time spent sleeping is wasted time. And they feel kids may not really need to nap (午睡) anyway.Ending afternoon naps might be a mistake, though. A new study looked at school nap time. It shows that going without a nap can cause problems for some children. That makes it harder for them to remember what they learn. The new study was done by Rebecca Spencer and Tracy Riggins. Both are scientists who study learning and memory.Children need less sleep as they get older. However, children are not all the same. They stop needing to nap at different ages. Some stop napping every day by age 4. Others still nap daily at age 6. Also, the need to nap doesn’t just suddenly disappear, Spencer said. It can come and go as children develop. Children grow very quickly. All that growth can be tiring. Children may be fine without naps at one point. A month later, they may need to take naps again. All children need a good night’s sleep in order to remember and learn. However, some children need more sleep than others. To keep what they’ve learned, these children need to nap during the day. Nighttime sleep just isn’t enough. Riggins and Spencer set out to prove this. They asked children at six preschools to play a memory game. After the children finished the game, some were told to nap. The others were kept from napping. The following morning, the two scientists brought the children back. They wanted to test how much the children remembered from the day before. They found some big differences.Students who were kept awake forgot more than students who had napped.Scientist Peg Oliveira has also studied nap time. She says school naps can be particularly important for kids who might be suffering from (遭受) tough times at home. They often get less sleep at home than other kids. Some do not have their own room. Others may be homeless at times.“Those kids might not be having a solid night of sleep,” Oliveira said. For them, school nap time is extra important. 1.The underline phrase “get rid of” in Paragraph 1 can most probably be changed by ”A.don’t mind B.are afraid of C.keep away from D.happily agree2.From the study of Rebecca Spencer and Tracy Riggins, the need to nap depends onA.how old the children are B.children’s developmentC.children’s sleeping hours at night D.children’s timetable3.According the passage, which of the followings is NOT TRUE?A.Children who often nap can remember what they learn easily.B.In the game, the students who had napped get better results.C.The kids who had hard times may not need more naps.D.Some children need to nap because they don’t have enough sleep time at night.4.According to the passage, the writer is eager to tell us that .A.children do not pay attention to naps at schoolB.children need both night’s sleep and school napC.there are just two ages for children to stop daily napsD.nap time is very important during the growth of children5.The passage is most probably taken from .A.a science magazine B.a news report C.a story book D.a history researchD16、What do people drink in Western countries?
