这种助人为乐的事情做多了，我忍不住要在这里向广大留学生们发发牢骚了：既然邀请父母来探望自己，大多数情况还让父母从国内带来大包小裹的“供给”，那是否也应该想想怎么为不懂外语的父母出行提供方便呢?世界大部分机场都是标准化服务与设置。完全可以提前告诉他们在机场的大致程序，怎么看登机牌，对“行李提取”、“转机”、“海关”等重点词汇做一个简单的中英对照表，将海关常见的问题，比如探望对象、住宿、返程机票等信息整理在一张纸上，这样即便不会用外语作答，至少可以把这些信息“堆”给海关。
这里尚不提中国照顾父母的传统，就拿西方的礼仪来说，邀请人也应对被邀请人在旅途中的安逸承担一部分责任。我每次出差开会，接待方一定会事先提醒我落地后出现的各种问题应该怎么解决，比如入境需要出示什么，巴士和出租车怎么搭乘，火车票在有什么样标志的柜台卖，酒店预定信息等。提前预想到来访人可能遇到的情况，并尽可能减少其不快与不便，这是最基本的地主之谊。
