Santa Can Come Before Christmas

It was last June. I entered a supermarket to pick some vegetables, when a young

man asked me, "Can you tell me where the 1 counter is?"

"Well, the milk is in the lower right corner," I replied.

Picking up my things, I finally came to the milk counter where I met the same

man 2 almost 10 bottles of milk.

I asked, "Do you need a basket or a trolley?"

"Sure, thank you." he answered.

I was 3 he was still picking more bottles and after a few minutes his trolley

had 24 bottles of milk.

I laughed and asked, "Why so many bottles?" Trolley

He smiled and said, "These are for my street dogs. Today, I want to be a Santa 4 them."

I said, "Well, it's too 5 for you to be a Santa. It is still June and Christmas comes in December."

He 6 at me and walked a few steps, as if he wanted to say something but he left the counter witbout saying anything.

7 , We met again at the bread counter.

"So these bread and cakes are also for the street 8 , Mr Santa."

He smiled and said, "Yes. These are also for the dogs and I love to be Mr Santa in the month of June. Santa is a representation (象征) of surprises and 9 Santa comes in December as we 10 him around Christmas. But in real life there is a Santa in each one of us that shines through our personality at some point of time, no matter which 11 it is. Maybe when you offered help to me by getting me a trolley, there was a 12 Santa in you. When we offer food to a poor man or a(n) 13 to someone who is caught in the rain, we are being Santa there. So when you offer help to others or get help from others, just think that Santa has come all the way for you."

He left and I was 14 that I had met him. It was right to understand that Santa can come before Christmas. We just need to realize that he is around us by 15 happiness and unconditional love.

When we think of Christmas, we probably think of 1 , Christmas trees and Santa Claus. But behind all these things lies the true meaning of Christmas: the importance of sharing and giving love and joy to people around us. The story in A Christmas Carol is perhaps the best example of this.

A Christmas Carol is a famous short novel written by British writer Charles Dickens (1812--1870). It is about an old man 2 Scrooge who never laughs or smiles. He only thinks about himself and is 3 to share things with others. He doesn't treat others nicely. He just cares about whether he can 4 and he hates Christmas. One Christmas Eve, Scrooge sees the ghost of Jacob Marley, his dead business partner. Marley used to be just like Scrooge, so he was 5 after he died. He warns Scrooge to change his ways if he doesn't want to end up like him. He also tells Scrooge to expect 6 ghosts to visit him.

That 7 , the ghosts visit Scrooge. First, the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to his childhood and reminds him 8 his happy days as a child. Then the second ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Present, takes him to see 9 others are spending Christmas this year. Everyone is happy, even poor people. The last one, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, takes him to the 10 Scrooge sees that he is dead, but nobody cares. He is so 11 that he wakes up in his bed and finds out it is only the next morning--Christmas Day!

Scrooge decides to change his life and 12 to be a kind person. He 13 celebrates Christmas with his relatives. He also gives gifts to people in need. He now treats 14 with kindness and warmth, spreading love and joy everywhere he goes. And that is the true 15 of Christmas!

When I was a young child, my parents often told me that a positive heart brought man everything. I didn't understand and wondered why 1 has such a big influence on a person. And now, although I'm just a middle school student, I'd like to 2 my own opinions on this saying.

Once I read a sentence-- "To make this world a 3 place to live in, rather than the whole world, you'd better change your 4 "It made me lost in thought. There are so many things around us that go 5 our will (意志). We can't force (强迫) life to follow our wishes. The earth won't stop turning 6 we accept it or not. What we can do is just to make ourselves suit the world. I think we should learn to 7 welcome whatever life gives us, the spring sunlight or the winter snowfall, and try to get 8 from it.

I have tried to catch every pleasant thing in my life, but I 9 catch most of the pleasant moments, such as being hugged by mother when in fear, being 10 by the teacher when in trouble, being helped by a stranger when 11 I realize that I don 't just live alone and that there are others around me I should 12 They all pay attention to my growing up, and are proud of my achievements 13 it is just a little progress. It is their care and love 14 often remind me I live in a warm and happy world.

Different people may have different 15 towards life. But one rule should be followed and that is to make the world better.

2018中考英语 完形填空训练16篇(含答案)

中考完形填空训练16篇 训练(一) It is well known that everyone has his own future as well as his own dream. But do you know what future is? I have 1 that future is now. That means we must treasure every minute every day. If we want to have a bright future, we should know 2 and use it well. There is an old English saying, “Gain time, gain life.”Then what’s time? Time is something that we can’t see or touch, but we can’t feel it 3 by. Time is always with us. When we are at table, time passes, when we play, time goes by 4 . We always say “Time is money.” But time is even 5 . When money is spent, we can make it back. But if time is gone away, it will 6 return. So some of us even say time is priceless. We should always remember: future is now. For 7 students, we should try our best to work hard in order to create a great future of our own. We should make the best use of every hour and be the master of today. We should do 8 before us as well as possible. And we shouldn’t put off what can 9 today till tomorrow. As we all know, “Time and tide wait for no man.”If you waste today, you will regret tomorrow. So 10 , work hard. Tomorrow will be better, and your future will be brighter.
