一、中考英语阅读理解汇编

1.阅读短文,判断正误。

People send birthday greetings by using cards in both eastern and western countries. It is not known when and where exactly the tradition of sending birthday cards began. It is believed that it began in England in the early nineteenth century. In those days people sent birthday cards when they couldn't wish somebody a happy birthday in person.

In 1840 the first stamp was used in Britain and sending birthday cards became easier, cheaper and more popular. The development of color printing processes (工艺流程) in the 1930s also helped to increase sales of birthday cards.

Today cards are often given with a present, even when people can express their wishes face to face. In recent times e-cards have also become popular. Many people are starting to use e-cards instead of traditional cards because they are free, environmentally friendly and easy to arrive. So will e-cards take place of paper cards completely in ten or twenty years? Probably not. For example, for kids and old people, they don't use e-cads very often.

If our birthday is coming soon, do you wish that at least one person could congratulate you with a beautiful card then?

Dear Rita,

How are you? Last time you asked me about the greatest invention in my eyes. I have also discussed it with my best friends, Anna, Sue and Kris. We have different ideas. Anna thinks it is the high﹣speed railway; Sue, the shared bike; Kris, the online shopping; and I prefer the Internet.

The Internet is just like a net, and it connects us with the world. In the past, it was nearly impossible for people to communicate immediately with people in other countries. They had to spend a long time to reach their destinations (目的地), and not everyone could do that. But the Internet has made the impossible possible. Now we can communicate with foreigners online.

The Internet also helps us know what is happening around the world, and has made our life and work easier. In recent years, shopping online is very popular. We can just stay at home and buy what we need online. We can also do online office work and distance education. Besides, we can watch movies, listen to music and even play games to relax ourselves on the Internet.

So, I think that the Internet is one of the greatest inventions. It has changed our world! Although there are still many problems with the Internet, they will be solved in the near future. As a student we should make good use of the Internet!

What is the sky? How high is it? What color is it? What birds can live above it? These questions are difficult to answer, aren't they? In fact, the sky has no color. Then why does the sky look blue? We know that there is air around the world. When planes fly, they need air to lift their wings. Planes can't fly very high. That is because the air gets thinner when they go higher. The same will happen to us if we go high enough. If we go up about 1.200 kilometers from the earth, we'll find no air there. Some birds can fly into the sky as high as a plane, but they cannot fly or live without air.

Looking up above us, you will see the blue sky with white clouds. It is usually light blue. The color would be bluer when you see on the top of a high mountain. And you will see fewer clouds in the sky between you and the sun. Sometimes the sky doesn't look blue. When the sun rises and falls, you will see red, orange, and other colors in the sky. Such are the most beautiful moments of the day.

Who can see the colors of the sky high above the earth? The astronauts! They can see those beautiful colors of the sky from the outer space. However, before flying into the outer space, they sit in a spaceship high above the earth, and there is no air at all. The sky would be that dark and its color would be black.

Now you may understand that we see colors because the air scatters(使散射) the sunlight. Light travels through the air. Without air, there would be no colors.

(1)Planes can't fly as high as possible because .

A. the sky is blue

B. the wings are heavier

C. the air becomes thinner

D. the sky has no air

(2)When you stand on the top of a high mountain, you will see .

A. more air

B. fewer clouds

C. more colors

D. redder skies

(3)In Suining, we might see many colors in the sky at about during the day in summer.

A. 7:00 pm

B. 11: 00 pm

C. 1:00 am

D. 3: 00 am

(4)The sky changes colors because .

A. the sunlight has colors

B. the air scatters the sunlight

C. it's colorful itself

D. the world is colorful

(5)Which is the best title(标题)?

A. Why does the sky look blue?

B. Why can't planes fly very high?

If you're invited to your British or American friend's home for a meal at home, you should learn some table manners about their countries.

Their dinner parties usually start between 7 and 8 p. m. and end at about 11 p.m. Ask your hosts what time you should arrive. It's polite to bring flowers, chocolates or a bottle of wine as a gift.

Usually the evening starts with drinks and snacks(小吃). If you want to be more polite, say how much you like the room, or the pictures on the wall. But remember-it's not polite to ask how much things cost.

In many families, the husband sits at one side of the table and the wife sits at the other end. They eat with their guests. You'll probably start the meal with soup or something small, then you'll have meat or fish with vegetables, and then dessert(甜点心), followed by coffee. It's polite to finish everything on your plate and to take more if you want it.

But I found that when I held my head up high, people liked me.

(英语)九年级上册英语阅读理解的基本方法技巧及练习题及练习 题(含答案) 一、阅读理解 1.阅读理解 "Without music, life would be a mistake, "famous German philosopher(哲学家)Friedrich Nietzsche said over a century ago. Music is a big part of our lives. But in recent years, some American schools have cut music classes to control budgets(预算). For example, Chicago public schools hurt arts education when it fired over 1, 000 teachers. Among them, 10 percent of the teachers taught art or music, according to The Washington Times. In fact, this is not just a problem in the US. In other countries, such as China and the UK, music classes are not thought to be as important as ones like science, math and history. That's partly because music is not seen as a very important life skill, and it isn't tested. Many students are busy with schoolwork, so parents and students choose to focus on subjects that are tested more often. However, learning music is beneficial(有益的)in many ways. When playing music, you need different abilities to work together. It is not as simple as it looks, according to Kenneth K. Guilmartin of Music Together, an early childhood music development program. For example, when playing the piano, people see music notes and decode(解码)them in their brains. They also use their fingers to make sounds. You need to deal with all these things at the same time. Music has a special connection with science as well. You can see that many scientists are good at playing music:Einstein played the violin and German physicist Max Planck was talented in playing the piano. (1)Some schools in the US cut music classes, because ____. A. they were too difficult to learn B. students in the US weren't interested in music C. the schools wanted to control budgets D. there weren't enough music teachers in the US (2)In Paragraph 2, what does the underlined word "them" refer to(指代)? 英语阅读理解题20套(带答案)及解析

一、中考英语阅读理解汇编 1.阅读理解 Parents can be very important teachers in our lives. However, they are not always the best teachers. Parents may be too close to their children emotionally(情感上). Sometimes they can only see their children through the eyes of a protector. For example, a teacher might see a trip to a big city as a valuable experience. However, it might seem too dangerous to a parent. Another problem is that parents may expect their children's interests to be similar to their own. If they love science, they may try to force(强迫) their child to love science, too. But what if their child's true love is art writing, or car repair? Parents usually want to pass on their values to their children. But should children always believe what their parents do? When children are young, they believe that their parents are always right. But when they get older, they will have different ways of thinking. The most important thing to realize is that we all have many teachers in our lives. Our parents teach us, our teachers teach us, and our friends teach us. Books, newspapers and television also teach us. All of them are valuable. (1)________might see a trip to a big city as a valuable experience, according to the passage. A. A parent. B. Either a teacher or a parent. C. A teacher. D. Neither a teacher nor a parent.
