第1 课绪论--翻译概述（1） 一、学科特点 翻译是一种跨越时空的语言活动，是"把一种语言已经表达出来的东西用另 一种语言准确而完整地重新表达出来"(范存忠："漫谈翻译"《翻译理论与技巧》 中国对外翻译出版公司，1985，p.80), 是"从语义到文体在译入语中用最切近而 又最自然的对等语再现原语的信息"（谭载喜：《奈达论翻译》中国对外翻译出版 公司，1984，p.10）。翻译虽为个体所承作，却是一种社会活动，一门综合性很 强的学科。它既有很强的理论性又有丰富的实践内涵。就前者而言，翻译经过千 百年来各国翻译家的共同努力，已经在语言学、文学、文化、心理学、人类学、 哲学和教育学等学科的基础上初步建立了一套理论体系，并在具体实践中总结出 了一套行之有效的跨文化和语言转换模式。随着科学的日益进步，这种体系和模 式正处在不断地完善之中。就后者而言，翻译是人类社会活动的产物，具有很强

谈化妆品说明书的翻译 【摘要】随着国内外商品的进出口日益增多，化妆品也不例外。消费者选购某种化妆品首先要看它的说明书。化妆品说明书的翻译属于实用文体翻译，有它自己的特点，因此，翻译时应根据消费者的不同，在内容及形式上适当调整。 【关键词】化妆品；翻译；实用文体；消费者 0 引言 一次同事要笔者帮忙翻译一款化妆品的中文说明书，我感到有些为难，因为它属于一种实用文体翻译，肯定和我们一般的写作文体不同，为了翻译这份材料，因此我就搜集了一些中外著名的化妆品来研究上边英文和中文的说明。发现中英文说明中有许多不能一一对应的地方。联想到因为国际贸易的发展许多国际品牌化妆品大量进入我国，同时我国一些著名品牌也开始出口国外，因此想写一篇文章谈一谈中文化妆品的翻译问题，促进我国化妆品的出口。我国的翻译现下问题多多，因此最重要的问题之一就是要有正确的翻译理论来指导。对于实用文体翻译，我认为德国学者赖斯的功能翻译理论是比较合适的理论。 1 功能翻译理论 德国学者赖斯是功能翻译理论的创始人。她在1971年出版的《翻译批评——潜力与制约》一书中提出了将文本功能确定为翻译批评的一个标准。她根据主要的交际功能不同把文本分为“传意功能文本：主要功能是告知读者文本的内容，表情性文本强调文本的形式，诉求性文本强调它的召唤功能”（Reiss，2004：25）。如果译文仍需为诉求性，译者应以读者的同等反应这一总体目标为指导原则，虽然这可能要改变原作的内容和（或）文体特征。赖斯的学生沃米尔突破了对等理论的原则，他以文本目的（skopos）为翻译过程的第一准则。 20世纪90年代德国翻译家诺德对所有的功能翻译理论进行总结。关于翻译的标准，诺德认为：“将预定的译文交际功能作为翻译的制定原则似乎更加合理一些”（Nord，2005：50）。这就是德国功能翻译理论的基本观点之一。 化妆品说明的英文翻译是以国外普通消费者为对象，推销我国化妆品的一种文本。赖斯认为，在译文中要从译文读者角度出发，对译文的内容和形式进行适当的调整，要注意译文的可接受性。那怎样才是合适的翻译呢？在讨论翻译标准时李运兴认为：“从严格的科学意义上说，译文和原文之间的‘等’是不存在的”（李运兴，2001：35）。成功的化妆品说明的翻译绝不是依样画葫芦，一字不动地译成另一国语言，我们的译文应该在许多方面进行适当变通，让外国读者觉得译文清晰易懂，喜闻乐见。要达到推销的目的，译文应当根据译语读者的阅读习惯在内容和形式上加以改变。下面从众多例子中摘取两例来看一看一些著名品牌的化妆品说明的中英文对照写法。
