外贸英语的几种特点

外贸英语的主要特征

外贸英语不仅是外经贸专业学生的一门重要课程,还是时下进入外贸行业的必备课程。该课程通过学习有关迎送外商、询价、讨价还价、付款、装运、包装、保险、检验、索赔、仲裁、代理、补偿贸易、合资企业以及合同签署等外经贸业务各个环节中的洽谈、磋商实例,提高学生的谈判技巧与能力,使学生掌握谈判过程中各个环节运作的程序、要点及语言表达方式。

外贸英语有以下三个主要特点:

(一)专业性强

外贸英语口语首先难就难在它的专业性。在很大程度上可以说,不懂外贸专业就不可能做好外贸英语口语工作。俗话说,隔行如隔山。每个专业都有自己的通用词汇和惯用术

语,只有真正地去了解外贸专业,了解所从事的工是做什么的,才能做好外贸英语业务工作。

(二)时效性强

作为一种特殊的口头交际手段,外贸英语口语的目的在于使用不同语言在拥有不同文化的人们之间进行商业交流,具有传播上的瞬息性、信息上的模糊性和松散性以及言语组织上的即席性等特点,学生必须在有限的时间内同时完成听、分析和表达的任务。

(三)语言学角度差异大

外贸英语是专用英语(即指掌握与某种特定职业、科目或目的相联系的英语),要求这门课有明确的特殊目的(即由于学生将来从事外贸工作的需要,要求达到在本职业范围内使用外贸英语的目的);要有特殊的内容、即专门化内容,要求学生掌握各种外贸的英语词汇、用语语言结构,这与基础英语有很大区别。体现在语体(外贸语域)、文体特色(如正式、句式单一)、修辞特征(如多长句,多被动结构、多非谓语动词修饰限制语)和言语习惯(如外贸合同的特定言语程式)上。
