1.1GeneralsafetyandapplicationnotesforLenzecontrollers

(accordingtoLow-VoltageDirective73/23/EEC)

1.General

Lenzecontrollers(frequencyinverters,servoinverters,DCcontrollers)cancarryavoltageorpartsofthecontrollerscanrotateduringoperation.Surfacescanbehot.

Iftherequiredcoverisremoved,thecontrollersareusedinappropriatelyorinstalledoroperatedincorrectly,severedamagetopersonsormaterialassetscanoccur.

Formoreinformationpleaseseethedocumentation.

Alloperationsconcerningtransport,installation,andcommissioningaswellasmaintenancemustbecarriedoutbyqualified,skilledpersonnel(IEC364andCENELECHD384orDINVDE0100andIECreport664orDINVDE0110andnationalregulationsforthepreventionofaccidentsmustbeobserved).

Accordingtothisbasicsafetyinformationqualified,skilledpersonnelarepersonswhoarefamiliarwiththeassembly,installation,commissioning,andoperationofthe

productandwhohavethequalificationsnecessaryfortheiroccupation.

2.Intendeduse

Drivecontrollersarecomponentswhicharedesignedfortheinstallationintoelectricalsystemsormachinery.Theyarenottobeusedasdomesticappliances,butonly

forindustrialpurposesaccordingtoEN61000-3-2.ThedocumentationcontainsinformationaboutthecomplianceofthelimitvalueswithEN61000-3-2.

Wheninstallingcontrollersintomachines,commissioningofthedrivecontrollers(i.e.thestartingofoperationasdirected)isprohibiteduntilitisproventhatthemachinecorrespondstotheregulationsoftheECDirective98/37/EG(MachineryDirective);EN60204(VDE0113)mustbeobserved.

Commissioning(i.e.startingofoperationasdirected)isonlyallowedwhenthereiscompliancewiththeEMCDirective(89/336/EEC).

ThedrivecontrollersmeettherequirementsoftheLow-VoltageDirective73/23/EEC.TheharmonisedstandardsEN50178/DINVDE0160applytothecontrollers.

Thetechnicaldataaswellastheconnectionconditionscanbeobtainedfromthenameplateandthedocumentation.Theinstructionsgivenmustbestrictlyobserved.

Warning:ControllersareproductswithrestrictedavailabilityaccordingtoEN61800-3.Theseproductscancauseinterferencesinresidentialpremises.Ifcontrollersare

usedinresidentialpremises,correspondingmeasuresarerequired.

3.Transport,storage

Thenotesontransport,storageandappropriatehandlingmustbeobserved.

ClimaticconditionsaccordingtoEN50178apply.

4.Installation

ThecontrollersmustbeinstalledandcooledaccordingtotheregulationsgiveninthecorrespondingInstructions.

Ensurecarefulhandlingandavoidmechanicaloverload.Donotbendanycomponentsanddonotchangetheinsulationdistancesduringtransportandstorage.Electronic

componentsandcontactsmustnotbetouched.

Controllerscontainelectrostaticallysensitivecomponentswhichcaneasilybedamagedbyinappropriatehandling.Donotdamageordestroyanyelectricalcomponentssincethiscouldmeanhazardsforyourhealth!

5.Electricalconnection

Whenworkingonlivecontrollers,thevalidnationalregulationsforthepreventionofaccidents(e.g.VBG4)mustbeobserved.

Theelectricalinstallationmustbecarriedoutincompliancewiththecorrespondingregulations(e.g.cablecross-sections,fuses,PEconnection).Additionalnotesand

informationcanbeobtainedfromthecorrespondingInstructions.

TheInstructionscontainnotesconcerningwiringaccordingtoEMCregulations(shielding,earthing,filtersandcablerouting).ThesenotesmustalsobeobservedwhenusingCE-markedcontrollers.ThecompliancewithlimitvaluesrequiredbytheEMClegislationistheresponsibilityofthemanufacturerofthemachineorsystem.

6.Operation

Ifnecessary,systemsincludingcontrollersmustbeequippedwithadditionalmonitoringandprotectiondevicesaccordingtotheapplyingsafetyregulations(e.g.regulationfortechnicalequipment,regulationforthepreventionofaccidents).Thecontrollercanbeadaptedtoyourapplication.Pleaseobservethecorrespondinginformationgiven
