BR125300.100-1253 A RESOLUTION memorializing Shirley K. Sotsky.

WHEREAS, it is appropriate from time to time for this honorable body to reflect

upon the contributions of special individuals who have enriched the lives of many people

in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; and

WHEREAS, Shirley K. Sotsky was a gifted poet whose work enriched, uplifted,

and inspired her fellow Kentuckians; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sotsky was the author of several children's books; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sotsky was a former teacher in the Jefferson County Public

School System; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sotsky is survived by a loving husband, Marvin M. Sotsky; two

daughters, Shirley L. Sotsky Harrison, and Julie B. Sotsky; a brother, Jerome Klein; and

two grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sotsky dedicated her life to the education of Kentucky youth and

the pursuit of literary awareness; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Sotsky, through the years, demonstrated extraordinary vision and

leadership, and her contributions to the quality of education in Kentucky will have a

lasting impact;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of

Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate honors the memory of Shirley K. Sotsky and extends

heartfelt sympathy to her family.

Section 2. This honorable body recognizes the joy and love that Shirley K. Sotsky

brought to both her family and her community.

Section 3. This honorable body further recognizes the motivation and inspiration
