第十课 形容词比较级与 as...as

一.本课要点及示例

在这一课里,我们还是学习形容词比较级. 我们还要学习一个新的句型, as, a-s, as 加上形容词再加上 as,像是 as useful

as "跟什么什么一样有用", as practical as "跟什么什么一样实用" 等等.

现在我们先来听今天这一课的对话, 请你注意听英文老师的发音和语调.

M: Hello, Mary! How was your exam yesterday?

F: Not too good. It wasn't as easy as the last one, and it was longer than before.

M: Well, the final exam is always more difficult. You have to work harder. You will certainly do better next time.

F: I worked very hard, but I was too careless. I made some stupid mistakes. I should be more careful next time.

M: Maybe you took too many courses this year.

F: No, I took as many courses as last year.

M: Well, it's no use worrying about the exam now. Let's talk about the football game tonight.

二.形容词比较级

现在我们来作练习. 上一课里我们学的形容词比较级, 是在短的形容词后面加 上 e-r, 现在我们来学另外一种形容词比较级, 就是在比较长的形容词前面加上 more, m-o-r-e , more, 比方 "比较聪明" more intelligent, "比较有天份",

more talented, "比较有耐心", more patient, "比较有雄心" more ambitious 等等.

现在我们用刚才举出的那些形容词比较级作句子, 把彼得和玛丽作个比较. 每 个句子我们念两遍, 请你听一遍, 跟着老师重复一遍.

M: Peter is more careful than Mary.

F: Peter is more careful than Mary.

M: Mary is more careless than Peter.

F: Mary is more careless than Peter.

M: Peter is more intelligent than Mary.

F: Peter is more intelligent than Mary.

M: Mary is more talented than Peter.

现在我们来作代换练习. 首先由老师念一个句子, 接着老师给你一个形容词, 请 你把这个形容词的比较级代换到原来的句子里. 请你注意: 老师给你的形容词 在变成比较级的时候有的应该加上 e-r; 有的应该加上 more, 你必须要斟酌情况 加以变化. 每作完一句, 老师会念出正确答案, 你自己比较一下, 看看作对了没 有. 现在我们开始.

三.AS + 形容词 + AS

下面我们来学习 as 加上形容词再加上 as 的用法, 比方 as tall as "跟什么什么 一样高 ", as important as "跟什么什么一样重要 ", as practical as "跟什么什么 一样实用" 等等.

首先我们来作换字练习, 把玛丽和琳达作个比较, 比方玛丽跟琳达一样聪明等 等. 还是由老师念一个句子, 接着老师给你一个形容词, 请你把这个形容词代 换到原来的句子里. 每作完一句就听老师念正确答案. 现在我们开始.

M: Mary is as tall as Linda.

M: old

F: Mary is as old as Linda.

形容词的比较级和最高级

一、比较级的定义：大多数的形容词都有三个级别：原级、比较级、最高级.其中比较级表示“更……"，用于两者之间的比较，用来说明“前者比后者更……”，比较级前面一般用much, even， a little修饰，其中even, much 只能修饰比较级。

二、比较级的构成：

（1）规则变化:

①单音节和部分双音节的形容词一般在词尾加—er

Eg： calm-—-calmer tall—-—taller smart—-—smarter

②以字母e结尾的直接在词尾加—r

Eg： nice—--nicer fine-—-finer large-——larger

③以“辅音+y 结尾的词，变y为 i，再加-er”

Eg: early--—earlier happy——-happier busy—-—busier

④以重读闭音节的单个辅音字母结尾的词,双写辅音字母，再加—er

Eg: big———bigger thin--—thinner hot-——hotter

⑤多音节或部分双音节的形容词在原级前面加more

Eg: popular--—more popular important---more important

(2)不规则变化：

少数形容词的比较级变化是不规则的：good—--better bad/ill--—worse many/much--—more

little—--less far——-farther/further old—--older/elder

三、比较级的用法:

(一)当两个人或事物（A和B)进行比较时,我们需要用到形容词（副词）的原级或者比较级

1． 表达“A和B一样”，用as…as的结构.

公式: A+be动词+as+形容词原级+as…+B

so/as…as表示。上述内容全记起，比较等级谈完毕。

英文中的形容词和副词一般都有三种级的形式即：原级（The

Positive Degree），比较级（The Comparative Degree）和级（The

Superlative Degree）。

1) 同级比较往往由"as + 形容词/ 副词的原形 + as"的句式表达；当然也要注意它的否定形式、以及在第一个as前加倍数或水准副词的情况。

2)"比较级 + than"引导不同级的比较。"比较级" 前同样能够加倍数或水准副词。另外"no more …than"意思是"A和B一样不……" 。

3) 形容词的级前一般必须有定冠词the；但是也有不加定冠词the的几种情况。

一、 同级比较中有两种情况：

A 表示双方情况"一模一样"，用as + 原级 + as的结构；

B 表示双方情况"不（那么）一样"，用not so / as + 原级 + as的结构。在这两种结构中，第一个as是副词，而第二个as是连词；在第二个as的后面接名词、句子或代词的主格（一般不要接代词的宾格）。例如： My parcel is as heavy as yours . 我的包裹与他的一样沉。

His bedroom is not as neat as his sister's. 他的卧室没有他姐姐的整洁。

It is not so hot as yesterday. 今天不象昨天那么热。

* 在as … as 的结构中，我们还常见这样两种句型：as much + 不可数名词 + as 和as many + 复数可数名词 + as 。例如：
