4.First-aid measures
4.1Description of necessary first-aid measures
General advice
Consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
If inhaled
If breathed in, move person into fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a
physician.
In case of skin contact
Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician.
In case of eye contact
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.
If swallowed
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. Consult a
physician.
4.2Most important symptoms/effects, acute and delayed
Inhalation or contact with eyes or skin causes irritation. Ingestion causes excessive salivation,
vomiting, colic, diarrhea, convulsive tremors, slow, hard pulse, and elevated blood pressure;
hemorrhages may occur in the stomach, intestines, and kidneys; muscular paralysis may follow.
(USCG, 1999)
4.3Indication of immediate medical attention and special
treatment needed, if necessary
no data available
5.Fire-fighting measures
5.1Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media
Excerpt from ERG Guide 141 [Oxidizers - Toxic]: SMALL FIRE: Use water. Do not use dry
chemicals or foams. CO2 or Halon® may provide limited control. LARGE FIRE: Flood fire
area with water from a distance. Do not move cargo or vehicle if cargo has been exposed to heat.
Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. FIRE INVOLVING TANKS OR
CAR/TRAILER LOADS: Fight fire from maximum distance or use unmanned hose holders or
monitor nozzles. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out. ALWAYS stay away from tanks engulfed in fire. For massive fire, use unmanned hose holders
or monitor nozzles; if this is impossible, withdraw from area and let fire burn. (ERG, 2016)
5.2Specific hazards arising from the chemical
Behavior in Fire: Increases the intensity of fire. Containers may explode. (USCG, 1999)
5.3Special protective actions for fire-fighters
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.
6.Accidental release measures
6.1Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency
procedures
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid dust formation. Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas.
