Once, in a small village, lived a family with eight children. Two of the children

loved paiting very much, but the family was so poor that it was impossible to send

both of them to study at the art college at the same time. After many discussions, the

two boys finally made a plan, They would toss(抛) a coin. The loser would go down

into the mines, and with his earning(赚得的钱), support his brother studying at the

college. Then, when the brother studying at the college. James won the toss and Jack

went down into the mines. James worked with all his heart and his paintings were

much better than those of most of his teachers, and by the time he graduated, he was

beginning to make a lot of money for his paintings.

When James returned, the family held a big dinner for his great success. Soon after

the meal began, James stood up from his seat to drink a toast to his dear brother. He

said, “ Jack, now you can go to the are college and your dream will come true. I will

take care of you.”

But Jack said softly, “ Brother, the four years in the mines has done too much to

my hands, so it’s too late. Now I can’t even hold a glass.” To show his great love and

respect, James drew his brother’s hands with fingers towards the sky.

He called his drawing “ The praying Hands”, which became very famous years

later.

in South Americ, you will find that people there don’t like to rush, If you had an

appintment with somebody, he could probably be late, because he may not want to

arrive on time.

In South America, even the radio programmes may not begin on time. The men on

the radio may not think it is important to tell the exact time. People in South America

think that clock or a watch control your life if you do everything on time.
