NACEInternationali________________________________________________________________________ForewordThisstandardrecommendedpracticepresentsproceduresandpracticesforachievingeffectivecontrolofexternalcorrosiononburiedorsubmergedmetallicpipingsystems.Theserecommendationsarealsoapplicabletomanyotherburiedorsubmergedmetallicstructures.Itisintendedforusebycorrosioncontrolpersonnelconcernedwiththecorrosionofburiedorsubmergedpipingsystems,includingoil,gas,water,andsimilarstructures.Thisstandarddescribestheuseofelectricallyinsulatingcoatings,electricalisolation,andcathodicprotectionasexternalcorrosioncontrolmethods.Itcontainsspecificprovisionsfortheapplicationofcathodicprotectiontoexistingbare,existingcoated,andnewpipingsystems.Alsoincludedareproceduresforcontrolofinterferencecurrentsonpipelines.

ThisstandardshouldbeusedinconjunctionwiththepracticesdescribedinthefollowingNACEstandardsandpublicationswhenappropriate(uselatestrevisions):
