WeinvestigateΘ+productionviaphotonandnucleoninducedreactions.WeobservethatthepositiveparityΘ+productionprovidesabouttentimeslargertotalcrosssectionsthanthoseofthenegativeparityoneinbothphotonandnucleoninducedreactionsduetoP–waveenhancementoftheKNΘvertex.WealsoconsiderthemodelindependentmethodinthenucleoninducedreactiontodeterminetheparityofΘ+andshowclearlydistinguishablesignalsforthetwoparities.
1.IntroductionAftertheobservationoftheevidenceofΘ+byLEPScollaboration1mo-tivatedbyDiakonovetal.2,physicsofexoticpentaquarkbaryonstatehasbeenscrutinizedbyhugeamountofresearchactivities.Inthepresentwork,weinvestigateΘ+productionviaphotonandnucleoninducedreac-tionsusingBorndiagramswithapseudoscalarKandvectorK∗–exchangeincluded.Forthenucleoninducedreaction,weconsiderthemodelindepen-dentmethodtodeterminetheparityofΘ+whichhasnotbeenconfirmedyetbyexperiments.Incalculations,weassumethatΘ+hasthequantumnumbersofspin1/2,isospin0andthedecaywidthΓΘ→KN=15MeVisusedtoobtainKNΘcouplingconstant1,2.WeperformcalculationsforbothparitiesofΘ+.
2.Photoninducedreactions:γN→¯KΘ+Inthissection,westudythetotalcrosssectionsofγN→¯KΘ+reactions.ResultsaregiveninFig1.TwomodelsareemployedfortheKNΘcou-
1February8,200823:59ProceedingsTrimSize:9inx6inS˙I˙Nam˙pentaquark042plingschemes.Oneisthepseudo-scalar(PS,thicklines)andtheotherispseudo-vector(PV,thinlines)toinvestigatetheoreticalambiguity.AsfortheanomalousmagneticmomentofΘ+,κΘ,weemploy−0.8consid-eringseveralmodelcalculations3,4.WesettheunknownK∗NΘcouplingconstanttobe|gKNΘ|/2withpositive(dashedline)andnegativesigns(dot-dashedline).Inordertotakeintoaccountthebaryonstructure,weemployagaugeinvariantformfactorwhichsuppressess–andu–channels3.InFig.1weplottotalcrosssectionsoftheneutron(left)andproton(right)targetsonlyforthepositiveparityΘ+sinceweobservethattheoverallshapesandtendenciesforthenegativeparityΘ+arequitesimilartothepositiveparityone.Amajordifferencebetweenthemisthatthetotalcross

sectionsareabouttentimeslargerforthepositiveparityΘ+thanforthenegativeparityoneduetotheP–wavecouplingnatureoftheKNΘvertex.WealsofindthattheoreticalambiguitiesduetothePVandPSschemes,κΘandK∗–exchangecontributionbecomesmallfortheneutrontargetwherethet–channelK–exchangedominates,whereaswefindlargemodeldependencefortheprotoncase,wheretheK–exchangedoesnotappear.
3.Nucleoninducedreactions:np→YΘ+andpp→Σ+Θ+InthissectionweinvestigateNNscatteringfortheproductionofΘ+.Here,wemakeuseoftheNijmegenpotential5fortheKNYcouplingcon-stants.WealsotakeintoaccountK∗–exchangecontributionswithvectorandtensorK∗NΘ(Y)couplings6.WeconsideronlyY=Λsinceoverallbehaviorsofnp→Σ0Θ+aresimilartonp→ΛΘ+withdifferencesintheorderofmagnitudesofthetotalcrosssections(σΛ∼5×σΣ0).Weemployamonopoletypeformfactorwithacutoffmass1.0GeV6.InFig.2weplotthetotalcrosssectionsforthereactionwithtwodifferentparitiesofΘ+.WeobservethatdifferenceinthemagnitudesofthetotalcrosssectionsFebruary8,200823:59ProceedingsTrimSize:9inx6inS˙I˙Nam˙pentaquark043forthetwoparitiesissimilartothephotoproduction.Furthermore,there-sultsarenotverysensitivetothesignsofvectorandtensorK∗NΘcouplingconstants.Thelabelsinparenthesisdenote(sgn(gVK∗NΘ),sgn(gTK∗NΘ)).Wenotethatifweconsiderinitialstateinteraction,theorderofmagnitudeswillbereducedbyaboutfactorthree6,7.AssuggestedbyThomasetal.8,tak-

ingintoaccountthePauliprincipleandparityconservation,pp→Σ+Θ+providesaclearmethodforthedeterminationoftheparityofΘ+.Spin0initialstateallowsnon-zeroproductionratenearthethreshold(S–wave)forthepositiveparityΘ+,whilespin1initialstatedoesforthenegativeparityone.Thisselectionruleshouldnotbeaffectedbyanymodeldepen-dences.Weconfirmthatatthethresholdregion(∼2730MeV),thereactionprocessisdominatedbyS-wavesothattheselectionruleisapplicable9.WeobserveclearevidencesoftheselectionruleinFig.3.K∗–exchange
