其中，理论经济学包括政治经济学，经济思想史，经济史，西方经济学，世界经济，人口、资源与环境经济学6个二级学科，有部分学校还新增了网络经济学、企业经济学、可持续发展经济学等新型专业。

应用经济学包括国民经济学、区域经济学、财政学、金融学、产业经济学、国际贸易学、劳动经济学、统计学、数量经济学、国防经济10个二级学科。

理论经济学，顾名思义比较侧重于经济理论问题的研究，其中西方经济学和政治经济学值得推荐。

西方经济学热门分析:很多学科都是在西方经济学基础之上生长、繁衍、裂变而来，学习西方经济学能整体把握经济学知识的框架结构。

该专业培养目标是培养能够从事西方经济理论和我国经济理论研究、独立承担高等院校、科研单位教学科研工作和政府经济管理部门实际工作的高级专门人才。

研究方向有宏观经济学、微观经济学、国际经济学、经济计量学、发展经济学、比较经济制度、现代西方经济学流派、西方马克思主义经济学等。

就业方向:如果有志在高校或者科研院所工作，这一专业能够提供很好的学术背景。
