Step1 Warming-up
1. Greetings.
2. Free talk
Do you like holidays? What holidays do you know? What holiday do
you like best? 2 3. Read the title of this class „Unit 6 Holidays‟.
Step2 Presentation
1. Learn „Christmas‟
T: Did you hear the song „Merry Christmas‟ and see Santa Claus?
What holiday is coming?
Ss: Christmas.
Learn and read Christmas.
2. Talk about Christmas.
a. When‟s Christmas? (It‟s on the first of December.)
b. What do people usually do at Christmas?
(They usually go to parties, eat turkeys, decorate Christmas trees,
give presents to each others, and so on.)
Learn the new word „people‟.
c. Did you…last Christmas? (Yes, I did. / No, I didn‟t.)
3. Write these three questions on the Bb, and learn to read them.

Step 3 Part A
1. Watch the cartoon.
T: Now, Mr Green is talking to his students about holidays too. Let‟s
watch the cartoon and try to find how many holidays they are talking
about and what holidays they are talking about.
T: How many holidays are they talking about? S: Five. / Four.
T: Yes. Five. But they are talking about four holidays in details.
Right?
S: Yes.
T: OK. What are they?
S: They are New Year‟s Day, Spring Festival, Halloween and
Mid-Autumn Festival.
T sticks the cards of words on the blackboard. Then read and learn.
2. Listen to the recorder .
Ask Ss to answer the two Qs about the four holidays: 3 a. When is…?
b. What do people usually do on/ at…?
choose the right answers and learn the new words about the
information of the four holidays.
New wordsand phrases: relative, delicious, dress up, moon cakes.
3. Read the dialogues and fill in the blanks.
Learn the new words „had , went‟, then check the answers in the
groups, and then choose someone to read the sentences for class.
4. Read after the recorder.
Step 4 Consolidation
1. Ask and answer.
T: Now I know a lot about the holidays, and I like Spring Festival very
very much. So my favourite holiday is Spring Festival, what‟s your
favourite holiday?
Ask some students to answer it, give some help if they need.
2. An activity. Ask questions about holidays as a reporter.
