Ladies and gentlemen , good morning. Today ,my topic is ‘be the

best and to be myself’.

Who is the best student in your class Do you think the best

student often draws attention from others and are you even jealous of

him or her from time to time

Frankly speaking, I do.

In my class , my deskmate is considered to be the best. In

teachers’ eyes ,he is a clever boy ;

So intelligent is he that he is able to figure out difficult

problems in extremely short time. From most classmates’ point of

view ,he is an energetic friend. Not only can he play the Jazz drum

wonderfully ,but also he is good at so many sports .Furthermore ,he

always shows his sense of humour in the communication with others.

Definitely ,he is the best. Nevertheless ,I don’t admire him in the

least or I don’t agree that I’m supposed to become what he

is .Despite the fact that I have ever been green with envy ,I’m

conscious that everyone has his own values . No matter how

outstanding others are, I should spare no effort to be myself .I used

to think of myself as an average student. Although I am capable of

playing the trumpet and using computer software practically, seldom

do I show my advantages at school .On account of that, it seems that

the only impression I have left on my teachers and classmates is that

I’m a hardworking ,modest and silent student. What I wonder is how I

can show my outgoing and lively side to them. If I make it, I am

It goes without saying that we ought not to seek to be like

others all the time .I have been looking for my particular value in

the society and that should be the best of myself.

My dream

I had a dream, a dream to be an English teacher. That is when I

was in Middle School. Although I don’t know what my English teacher

said to us, I can remember the first English class clearly now. It

was my first time to listen to a foreign language, English. Just

because of the strange words from my English teacher’s mouth, I was

really interested in English and admired my English teacher very much.

At that time, I made a resolution. That was to be an English teacher,

and to say English to my students like my teacher one day. So I went

to Education College and majored in English. Now my dream really

comes true. I was so happy to come to Shiqiao Middle School with my

nice dream in 201X. My heart was full of hopes. I hoped that I could

become my students’ friend. And we could study together, play

together and smile together. However, that was just a dream.

In the past 5 years, there were so many challenges. I didn’t

know how to communicate with them, just smile on them. But they are

teenagers, they need friends and they also need guides of their daily

lives and school lives. So some students didn’t think I was their

real teacher. They often did their own things in my class. Such as,

talking, playing etc. But I didn’t try talking with them. And after

exams their poor grades made me so sad. Even I thought I was a loser.

At that time I was so disappointed with my students and my job that I

don’t want to persist in my dream. But there was a chance I stayed

with my students. They were very happy that I went to their

bedroom. And we talked a lot about me and themselves. They said

some of my advantages and they also said I should be a little serious

sometimes. After the talk, I became confident and opened my mind to

my students.

Then I began to think about how to be their friend and teacher.

After class, I often stay at the classroom, and become their listener.

Sometimes they say their troubles in life and study to me. I always

try my best to help them. So we become real friends after class.

Today, I want to say “thanks” to my lovely students. Especially the
