X-α-Gal 的使用,避开双杂交分析中β-半乳糖苷酶溶液制备和滤膜提升实验(filter-lift assay )的繁琐操作,只需直接添加在培养基上,通过蓝色沉淀的生成与否,即可用来检测双杂交相互作用。
X-α-Gal 可用来区分肠杆菌科内的不同物种以及划分乳酸菌和双歧杆菌。
组织学研究中,X-α-Gal 还可借助光学显微镜来检测组织的α-半乳糖苷酶活性。
