9 NetworkingNetworking ComponentsThe XenServer host performs all required configuration of the physical NICs as components are created. Automated configuration of NICs is performed in the CLI.All hosts in a resource pool should have the same number of physical NICs. All hosts in a pool should share a common set of XenServer networks. Physical interfaces on the individual hosts are connected to pool-wide networks based on device name.For example , all hosts in a pool with an eth0 NIC will have a corresponding PIF plugged into the pool-wide ‘network 0’ network. The same is true for hosts with eth1 NICs and ‘network 1’ as well as other NICs present in at least one XenServer host in the pool.在XenServer主机执行所有需要配置的物理网卡作为组件创建。

Virtual switchesAn administrator can add virtual switches as required for each VLAN ID and connect virtual machines to them. Management and Normal NICsBy default, XenServer recognizes and configures all available NICs in normal mode. This mode is used for VM and guest traffic.Occasionally, administrators require dedicated NICs for specific purposes. For example , one might need a NIC exclusively for storage traffic.In such a scenario, the NIC can be placed in management mode. And dedicated for storage traffic. Why add ip information?On larger installations, it makes sense to reduce the load on the primary management NIC by sending remote storage services onto other NICs.
