Booking Online and Saving the EnvironmentWhen you are looking to book aholiday, it is unlikely that you will think about how green your booking decision is, but it is something that you should think about. By green" we mean the impact on the environment. When looking to book a holiday, you will probably find that you are faced with two main decisions. The first is to go into atravel agency, pick up brochures (宣传册), read through them and go back with just one and book with the travel agents directly or over the phone. The second is to go onto the Internet. The Internet holds many advantages over the travel agencies. The main one is convenience. You can go online to lookat holidays at any timeof the day. The travel agents, however, areusually very busy at times when peoplecan actually go, i.e. lunch hours or at the weekend. You could use the telephone, but you wouldn't be able tosee the pictures or the details of the holidays, So you would probably be sent a brochure anyway. There are websites on the Internet that make shopping forholiday deals much easier. These websites are known as price comparison websites. They search through lotsof different tour operators, and the results are displayed on one page, from which you can choose.Compared with the travel agencies, bookingonline is greener. The piles of brochures are definitely not green, and the amount of unnecessary paper used can't be good for the environment. To Lease(租赁) or Not to LeasePlanning to lease a car because you don't think you can afford to buy? Think again. Leasing can end up being just as expensive as buying. Most people think about leasing because they believe it will cost them less money. They're right-it is cheaper, but only in the short term. For example, if you were to lease anew Subaru Forester, you might pay $300 per month for the car. If you were to buy the same car, you would pay about $400 per month. Over a three-year, you would save $3600-a big savings. But after your lease is over, you have to give the car back. Many people want to lease because they can drive a more expensive car than they might otherwise be able to afford. For example, if you spend $300 monthly on a car, you might be able to lease a new Ford Explorer. For the same price, you might have to buy a used Explorer, or buy a new but much less expensive model. A lease, therefore, allows you to drive the latest models of more expensive cars. However, whatever car you can afford to buy you get to keep it, and it will always have a resell or trade-in(以新旧换)value if you want to upgrade to a new car later.Furthermore, people who lease cars are often shocked by how much they must pay when the lease is over . Most leases limit you to a certain number of miles. If you go over that, you must pay for each mile. As a result, you may end up paying thousands of dollars in mileage(里程) fees. In addition, when you lease ,you have to pay for regular maintenance and repairs to the vehicle. Since you must return the car finally, you are paying to repair someone else's car.By now, the benefits of buying over leasing should be clear. Remember: whatever model you can afford to buy, it is yours after you make the payments. There's no giving back, and that makes all the difference.1. 范文:
We are lucky to be living in an unprecedented period of freedom, prosperity and creativity. Admittedly, we may be faced with lots of challenges, which, on the other hand, provide us with more opportunities. Also, there is no denying the fact that where there is a challenge, there is an opportunity.
One of my unforgettable experiences may serve as a good example of transforming a challenge into a precious opportunity. Two years ago, I was proud to be given a chance to take part in the school English speech contest, which was also a challenge for me, because of my strong psychological barriers, such as lack of confidence, shyness and nervousness. However, never wanting to abandon this precious chance to show myself, I made up my mind to take up these challenges and overcome them. Having practiced again and again in front of my classmates, I finally challenged myself and performed very well.
In a word, challenges are always accompanied with opportunities. Therefore, we don’t need to panic when confronted with challenges, as only by fighting against challenges bravely can we find the opportunities hidden behind and make full use of them.。
