In a comfortable and pleasant room, two ladies of the house waited the arrival of the doctor and the police. Mrs May Lie, the own of the house was an older woman, but her niece, Rose was a beautiful 17 years old girl who won all hearts of all young men.
The doctor Losberne arrived breathlessly. He was a close friend of the ladies. When he entered the room, the first thing he did was not to examine the patient but to blame Mrs May Lie for not telling him immediately what had happened last night. Then Rose reminded him of the patient Oliver, who needed help. So he went upstairs to examine Oliver and for some time he came down and asked the two ladies to see Oliver with him. He said that there is nothing wrong with Oliver and no need in worrying him. Suddenly, there was a ring. The police arrived. Before the police were allowed to see Oliver, Dr Losberne made a line and said that Oliver was the boy who was shot this morning while walking on a farmer’s property where he shouldn’t have been. Finally, even the police believed that Oliver was not the robber, because they were familiar with the robbers in this area, but Oliver was unknown to them.
At last the police left, Oliver was allowed to recover in Mrs May Lie’s house. Several weeks later, Oliver could get out of bed and grew stronger and lived a happy life that except for one thing.
