PL-01 Cable construction details
Insulated conductor:
Insulation and conductor dimensions are identical to standard RG-11 coaxial cable. Insulation material is solid Polyethylene (not foam), 7.1mm diameter. Center conductor is solid copper 1.63mm diameter.
Internal element layout:
Two insulated conductors are described above side-by-side. 2 synthetic strength members (aramid or other suitable material) added, size to be confirmed.
Insulation:
20mm outside diameter circular section solid Polyethylene like the conductor insulation. 1 or more notches may be required to maintain orientation in subsequent manufacturing operations if required.
Armor:
Metallic armor tape wrapped around insulation. Material and dimensions to be confirmed.
Outer sheath:
High Density Polyethylene or other material suitable for direct burial outer sheath to cover armor. The location of the conductor plane must be known for our application so a notch is required to indicate conductor location. A colored line could also be used instead of a notch.
Finished cable:
Overview of finished cable section:
The video below shows most of the techniques that would be used to manufacture such a cable. It is assumed that some custom tooling would be required (such as extrusion dies) for some of the steps but it would be helpful to know which part they cannot do.。
