2. Review:

A. Turn to page 142, students read the new words and expressions of

Lesson 30 after me(T: once Ss: twice).

B. Students read aloud in chorus the above new words and expressions,

twice for each word

C. Students read the text once in chorus

D. Students recite the text (Check their reciting and make sure each of them have had

adequate practice of reading aloud)

E. Dictation: (ask one of students to come to the board to dictate)

a) All the new words and expressions of lesson 30:

Summary writing:

Checking the dictation work by exchanging their work between the partners (tick the right one,

circle the wrong one, make sure the Ss tick as their books)

F. Teacher controls the class, going around and give instructions or encouragement.

G. Check the answers to the exercises:

Odd lesson:

T: Look at page 146, cover everything but the picture.

T: Today we‟ll listen to a story about how a successful man began in business.

(help the Ss to understand the meaning of the title)

T: Now look at the picture. Can you see any bicycles in the picture? What‟s the man

doing?

T: What‟s the sentence in the picture?

T: Listen to the story and see if you can answer this question:

(make sure the Ss understand the question)

What was Frank’s first job?

A. Play the tape at normal speed the first time (students mainly focus on what they can

understand, ask students to try to give an answer to the target question.)

B. Listen to the tape sentence by sentence even phase by phase, after each sentence, and ask

one student to tell me whatever he or she heard. At the same time, ask some clue questions

using general questions, write down some important grammar, key structures or new words

and expressions on the white board:

C. Ask them the target question:

E. Practice pronunciation.

a. Students follow the teacher to read the new words and expressions(T: once Ss: twice;

Ss can practice for a while)

b. Students read aloud in chorus the above the words and expressions twice for each.

c. Students follow the teacher to read aloud the text (correct their mistakes)

(1). Read part by part of a sentence

(2) Let students practice reading the whole sentence

(3) Students read in chorus

F. Ask the comprehension questions, students give short natural answers (Ss‟ books open)

S: His experience as a young man .
