PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS All measurements are taken indoor using a time-windowed and processed signal to eliminate room effects, approximating ananechoic environment, a distance of 6.0 m. All acoustic specifications are rounded to the nearest whole number. An external DSP with settings provided by Community Professional Loudspeakers is required to achieve the specified performance; further performance gains can be realized using Community’s dSPEC226 loudspeaker processor with FIR power response optimization.2. OPERATING RANGE The frequency range in which the on-axis processed response remains within 10dB of the average SPL.3. CONTINUOUS POWER HANDLING Maximum continuous input voltage (and the equivalent power rating, in watts, at the stated nominal impedance) that the system can withstand, without damage, for a period of 2 hours using an EIA-426-B defined spectrum; with recommended signal processing and protection filters. 4. NOMINAL SENSITIVITY Averaged SPL over the operating range with an input voltage that would produce 1 Watt at the nominal impedance and the averaged SPL over the operating range with a fixed input voltage of 2.83V, respectively; swept sine wave axial measurements with no external processing applied in whole space, except where indicated.5. NOMINAL MAXIMUM SPL Calculated based on nominal / peak power handling, respectively, and nominal sensitivity; exclusive of power compression.6. EQUALIZED SENSITIVITY The respective SPL levels produced when an EIA-426-B signal is applied to the equalized loudspeaker system at a level which produces a total power of 1 Watt , in sum, to the loudspeaker subsections and also at a level which produces a total voltage, in sum, of 2.83V to the loudspeaker subsections, respectively; each referenced to a distance of 1 meter.7. EQUALIZED MAXIMUM SPL The SPL produced when an EIA-426-B signal is applied to the equalized loudspeaker system, at a level which drives at least one subsection to its rated continuous input voltage limit, referenced to a distance of 1 meter. The peak SPL represents the 2:1 (6dB) crest factor of the EIA-426-B test signal.8. AXIAL PROCESSED RESPONSE The on-axis variation in acoustic output level with frequency of the complete loudspeaker system with recommended signal processing applied. 1/6 octave Gaussian smoothing applied.9. AXIAL SENSITIVITY The on-axis variation in acoustic output level with frequency for a 1 Watt swept sine wave, referenced to 1 meter with no signal processing. 1/6 octave Gaussian smoothing applied.10. HORIZONTAL / VERTICAL OFF-AXIS RESPONSES The loudspeaker’s magnitude response at various angles off-axis, with recommended signal processing applied in the operating mode which utilizes the largest number of individually amplified pass bands. 1/6 octave Gaussian smoothing applied.11. DIRECTIVITY INDEX The ratio of the on-axis SPLsquared to the mean squared SPL at the same distance for all points within the measurement sphere for each given frequency; expressed in dB. 1/6 octave Gaussian smoothing applied.12. BEAMWIDTH The angle between the -6dB points in the polar response of the loudspeaker when driven in the operating mode which utilizes the largest number of individually amplified pass bands. 1/6 octave Gaussian smoothing applied.Data presented on this spec sheet represents a selection of the basic performance specifications for the model. These specifications are intended to allow the user to perform a fair, straightforward evaluation and comparison with other loudspeaker spec sheets. iPod ® 和 iPhone ™都是极佳的随身音乐音源。

AS SUCH, PROPER CARE AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL WHEN SETTING UP THESE SPEAKERS WILL YIELD THE MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE, REGARDLESS OF THE PARTICULAR ROOM. FOLLOWING THESE SET-UP GUIDELINES WILL ENSURE THE SPEAKERS ARE PROPERLY POSITIONED TO DELIVER THE OPTIMUM LISTENING EXPERIENCE. ALL THAT IS REQUIRED IS A TAPE MEASURE, A PEN, A CALCULATOR, A BALL OF STRING, A COUPLE OF DEMO CDS, AND SOME PATIENCE.PLACEMENT—S1MKIIS IN RELATION TO BACK AND SIDE WALLSBEFORE YOU BEGIN: LOOK FOR OBVIOUS IMPEDIMENTS INCLUDING ANYTHING THAT COULD IMPEDE OR DIMINISH THE SOUND—E.G., OTHER SPEAKERS, AMPLIFIERS, EQUIPMENT RACKS, ANYTHING ON THE WALL THAT COULD CAUSE A REFLECTION, A SEVERE MISMATCH IN QUALITY AMONG INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS, AND UNNECESSARY OR POORLY RUN SPEAKER/INTERCONNECT CABLES.BASS—DISTANCE FROM REAR WALLTHE INITIAL PLACEMENT SHOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 20 INCHES (1/2 M) FROM THE BACK OF THE LOUDSPEAKER TO THE BACK WALL. SINCE WE HAVE SHORT AUDITORY MEMORY, THE SELECTED DEMO MUSIC CUT SHOULD BE BRIEF—30 SECONDS – 1 MINUTE MAX. IT SHOULD BE A WELL RECORDED JAZZ CUT WITH GOOD BASS GUITAR OR PERCUSSION. WHAT WE ARE LISTENING FOR AT THIS TIME IS THE DEFINITION OF THE BASS AND THE RIGHT SENSE OF PROPORTION.NEXT, MOVE THE SPEAKER 6 – 8 INCHES (15 – 20 CM) FORWARD AND REPEAT THE LISTENING PROCESS. REPEAT THIS PROCESS, MOVING THE LOUDSPEAKER FORWARD IN 6 – 8 INCH (15-20 CM) INCREMENTS. WHEN YOU REACH THE POINT FROM WHICH MOVING THE SPEAKER FORWARD SOUNDS WORSE THAN THE PREVIOUS LISTENING POINT, MOVE THE LOUDSPEAKER BACK TO THIS POSITION AND MARK THIS DISTANCE FROM THE REAR WALL.MIDRANGE—PLACEMENT IN RELATION TO SIDE WALLS FOR LATERAL PLACEMENT BEGIN BY DIVIDING THE ROOM WIDTH BY 14. INITIAL PLACEMENT OF THE LOUDSPEAKERS WILL BE AT 3 AND 11. THE DISTANCE FROM THE LOUDSPEAKER TO THE EARS HAS TO BE PRECISELY EQUAL. THIS MEASUREMENT IS CRITICAL. THE MUSIC FOR THIS PROCESS SHOULD BE A FEMALE VOICE AND PIANO. WE ARE LISTENING FOR THE IMAGE OF HER VOICE TO BE FOCUSED. THE RULE FOR THE TOE-IN IS TO PICK A POINT APPROXIMATELY 1 –2 FEET (. M) BEHIND THE LISTENER’S HEAD. TOE THELOUDSPEAKERS IN TO INTERSECT AT THAT POINT. IF THE SOUND IS TOO BRIGHT, TOE THE SPEAKERS OUT A LITTLE MORE. IF THE SOUND IS TOO DULL, TOE THE SPEAKERS IN A LITTLE MORE. REPEAT THE ABOVE PROCESS WITH THE LOUDSPEAKERS AT THE 4 AND 10 POSITION. THEN REPEAT, ONCE AGAIN WITH THE SPEAKERS AT THE 5 AND 9 POSITION. SUMMARYONCE THE INITIAL PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED, RETURN TO THE BASS SET-UP TO ENSURE THAT THE LOUDSPEAKERS ARE THE PROPER DISTANCE FROM THE BACK WALL. WHEN THE PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED, MARK THE SPEAKER LOCATION WITH TAPE SO THAT THE SPEAKERS CAN BE RETURNED THERE FOR FURTHER LISTENING. POSITIONING—MPROJECTS IN RELATION TO THE LISTENER• THE SPEAKERS AND THE LISTENER SHOULD FORM AN ISOSCELES TRIANGLE.• THE LISTENER SHOULD BE EXACTLY EQUIDISTANT BETWEEN THE TWO LOUDSPEAKERS. THE BEST WAY TO DETERMINE THIS IS WITH A PIECE OF STRING. PICK A FIXED SPOT AT THE LISTENING POSITION. RUN THE STRING FROM THIS SPOT TO THE FRONT OF THE TWEETER OF THE LEFT SPEAKER. REPEAT THE PROCESS FOR THE RIGHT SPEAKER. IT IS CRITICALLY IMPORTANT TO KEEP THIS DISTANCE PRECISELY THE SAME. CONNECTIONSCONNECTIONS SHOULD BE MADE WITH ALL ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT (AMPLIFIERS, PREAMPLIFIERS) TURNED OFF. THERE ARE TWO TERMINALS AT THE BACK OF THE SPEAKER. THE TERMINALS ARE INSULATED TO ACCEPT A VARIETY OF CABLE TERMINATIONS FOR MOST APPLICATIONS AND TO PREVENT ANY LIKELIHOOD OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, EVEN WHEN THE SPEAKERS ARE USED WITH THE HIGHEST POWERED AMPLIFIERS. DO NOT USE TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE BINDING POSTS.BREAK-INA LOUDSPEAKER IS A MECHANICAL DEVICE AND AS SUCH REQUIRES AN EXTENDED INITIAL PERIOD OF NORMAL USE DURING WHICH A NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT IN SOUND QUALITY WILL OCCUR. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE THE BREAK-IN PROCESS BY PLAYING SINE WAVES, TONE SWEEPS, BREAK-IN CDS OF ANY SORT, OR OTHER GENERATED SIGNALS.CARE:FOR ALUMINUM PANELS USE A LINT-FREE SOFT CLOTH (PROVIDED IN ACCESSORY KIT). FOR PAINTED SURFACES, USE A PRODUCT SUCH AS MEGUIAR’S PROFESSIONAL FINALINSPECTION 34. DO NOT USE CLEANERS THAT CONTAIN AMMONIA, STRONG SOLVENTS, OR ABRASIVE MATERIALS. USE OF THESE CLEANERS CAN DEGRADE, SCRATCH, OR DESTROY THE FINISH.SPECIFICATIONSDESCRIPTION: 2-WAY SEALED BOX ENCLOSUREDRIVER COMPLEMENT:1 x 1” MBD7 Diamond Coated Beryllium Dome Tweeter1 x 7” M390G Graphene Nano-Tec ConeSENSITIVITY: 86dBIMPEDANCE: 4 OhmsFREQUENCY RESPONSE: 32 Hz – 50 kHzRECOMMENDED POWER: 50 WATTSDIMENSIONS: 43”H x 8.5” D x 9.75” W (109 cmx 23cm x 25cm)WEIGHT: approx. 120 lbs. Therefore, after installation of any electronic device it is necessary to test all electronic equipment simultaneously to insure that they operate free of interference from other components within the vehicle. Never power emergency warning equipment from the same circuit or share the same grounding circuit with radio communication equipment. All devices should be mounted in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and securely fastened to vehicle elements of sufficient strength to withstand the forces applied to the device. Driver and/or passenger air bags (SRS) will affect the way equipment should be mounted. This device should be mounted by permanent installation and within the zones specified by the vehicle manufacturer, if any. Any device mounted in the deployment area of an air bag will damage or reduce the effectiveness of the air bag and may damage or dislodge the device. Installer must be sure that this device, its mounting hardware and electrical supply wiring does not interfere with the air bag or the SRS wiring or sensors. Mounting the unit inside the vehicle by a method other than permanent installation is not recommended as unit may become dislodged during swerving; sudden braking or collision. Failure to follow instructions can result in personal injury. Whelen assumes no liability for any loss resulting from the use of this warning device. PROPER INSTALLATION COMBINED WITH OPERATOR TRAINING IN THE PROPER USE OF EMERGENCY WARNING DEVICES IS ESSENTIAL TO INSURE THE SAFETY OF EMERGENCY PERSONNEL AND THE PUBLIC.Warnings to UsersWhelen’s emergency vehicle warning devices are intended to alert other operators and pedestrians to the presence and operation of emergency vehicles and personnel. However, the use of this or any other Whelen emergency warning device does not guarantee that you will have the right-of-way or that other drivers and pedestrians will properly heed an emergency warning signal. Never assume you have the right-of-way. It is your responsibility to proceed safely before entering an intersection, driving against traffic, responding at a high rate of speed, or walking on or around traffic lanes. Emergency vehicle warning devices should be tested on a daily basis to ensure that they operate properly. When in actual use, the operator must ensure that both visual and audible warnings are not blocked by vehicle components (i.e.: open trunks or compartment doors), people, vehicles, or other obstructions. It is the user’s responsibility to understand and obey all laws regarding emergency warning devices. The user should be familiar with all applicable laws and regulations prior to the use of any emergency vehicle warning device. Whelen’s audible warning devices are designed to project sound in a forward direction away from the vehicle occupants. However, because sustained periodic exposure to loud sounds can cause hearing loss, all audible warning devices should be installed and operated in accordance with the standards established by the National Fire Protection Association.Safety FirstThis document provides all the necessary information to allow your Whelen product to be properly and safely installed. Before beginning the installation and/or operation of your new product, the installation technician and operator must read this manual completely. The speaker driver can be mounted on the firewall or the fenderwall virtually any distance from the horn. Through the use of acoustical flexible tubing, the horn can be mounted behind the vehicles grille, under the bumper or any other concealed location that will allow the forward projection of sound. The acoustical flexible tubing not only allows easier installation, but also substantially increases the gain of the sound level.Installation Instructions:1.Check the contents of the kit to insurethat all parts and components are in thepackage. See exploded parts drawing onfront page.2.Determine the ideal mounting location forthe driver and speaker horn assembly.Follow diagrams on left.3.After the location for the speaker driverhas been chosen, use the driver mount-ing bracket as a template for making anddrilling the bracket mounting holes.4.After the driver mounting bracket issecurely mounted to the vehicle, installthe speaker driver to the bracket using 1/4X 20 X 1/2 inch hex head cap screws.5.Install the driver adapter (ITEM 11) to thespeaker driver, making sure to insert therubber seal (ITEM 2) and fiber spacer seal(ITEM 3) between the adapter and driver.Continue the assembly process in thesequence shown in the drawing on pg. 1. 6.Install the speaker horn assembly at thechosen location on the front grill of thevehicle. (FIG. 4) Speaker horn assemblymay be secured with the enclosed ty-wraps. (ITEM 10)7.Route the acoustical flexible tubing fromthe driver to the speaker horn assemblyfollowing the warnings to the left. To fit theacoustical tubing cut it at the nearest 4inch length. (See copy on page 1)8.Clamp the flexible acoustical tubingsecurely over the speaker horn and driveradapters with the two hose clamps (ITEM8). Use ty-wraps (ITEM 10) to secureacoustical tubing in place. (FIGS. 2 & 3) IMPORTANT: Due to the lightweight nature of some plastic front grilles, when mounting the speaker horn upon it, harmonic vibration (distor-tion) of the siren sound is possible. In this case use a mounting location for the speaker horn other than the speaker grille itself. Example: Grille Mounting Posts, Metal Bumper Flanges, etc.。
