试比较下面两句:①The little boy said sorry to his mother.②The little boy hung his head and mumbled an apology to his mother.
如:①She went to catch the butterfly.②She crept along the path, bent over swiftly and cupped her hands around the butterfly gently.

Ring a BellMs. Tracy looked up from her yellow notebook and cleared her throat. The noise in the class died down as we turned toward her. "We're going to help a charity to collect money by ringing a bell. Each of you will ring it for four hours," she announced. As the words left her lips, complaints could be heard around the room. Unwillingly, I dug for my planner and look notes. Four hours of ringing a stupid bell. Four hours that I could be studying for the SAT. Was this supposed to be a joke? Ijoined the students around the table and signed up for 1he first day of break-to get it over with.A few weeks later, I was standing next to the big blue-and-white Walmart. There was another guy holding a jar across from me. Great, I was going to be stuck here ringing a bell with a guy who was trying to get donations for another charity. To top it off, it was only about 4.4℃.Slowly, I put on the red dress bearing the symbol of ow charity. I hoped that I already spent two minutes doing that, Ring! Ring! A group of olderwomen came up with their walking sticks to drop in some change. Аman with а broad-cimmеd bat came by and put some coins in. I checkedmy phone. Just 10 minutes had passed.A strong bitterly-cold wind blew against myfreezing face. I was starting to regret ignoring mymom's advice to wear a scarf. I looked up, wishingthat time would pass more quickly. A few birds sweptaround the poles. The sky was gently blue. Palm trees waved in thecold wind. How comfortable it might be to curl(蜷缩)up with a hot cupof tea and a book on the cozy sofa. Then another ring brought me back to reality. From the parking lot stepped out a poorly-dressed man, walking with difficulty toward me._____________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________ Inspired by his generosity, I continued to ring my bell happily._____________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________【参考答案】From the parking lot stepped out a poorly-dressed man, walking with difficulty toward me. I saw his unbalanced shoulders and awkward figure. His hair was a mess and his shirt was dirty. I stopped ringing the bell, wondering what he was going to do. He pulled some change out of his worn pocket and reached towards the bucket. I couldn't help but say, "Thank you, sir." He turned to smile. The money he donated wasnot a lot, but it was clearly a lot to him. This act of charity, though not much, was worth so much more than donations given by those who were better off.

My teenage son, Jordan, always complained about having to be home earlier than all his friends. He would tell me that he was already seventeen, but still had a curfew (宵禁),He believed he was practically an adult.I pointed out that he was not an adult as he was still in high school.“You don't trust me!” he yelled. Before I continued, he rolled his eyes, slammed the door and walked away.I sighed. How could I make Jordan see that I only wanted to keep him safe?I decided to go for a walk, hoping the December air would clear my head.I opened the front door and nearly stepped on her: a small black cat, just like a meatball.“Hi, Meatball," I said, bringing her into my arms.I walked back in, touching her neck gently.Meatball seemed happy enough to come in the house, but after an hour or two, she sat by the door, meowing to go back outside.“Why won't she just stay in with us all the time?” Nathan, my youngest son asked.I explained to him that she was happy here but she liked being able to come and go as she pleased.“That must be nice,” Jordan muttered from the other room, complaining why the cat, not him, could come and go.He even asked me to give Meatball a curfew.Meatball became a regular. One night, temperatures were unusually low.Meatball stood at the door, meowing to go outside.I shook my head at her, afraid that she might freeze to death. She stared at me and meowed again.I patted her head, “I know you're not happy, but it's for your own good.”“Mom's not being mean to you,” Nathan told the cat.“She's just trying to keep you from turning into a frozen meatball.”We both laughed at his joke. The next morning, I couldn't find Meatball.I asked the kids if anyone had seen her.【注意】1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式作答。

A quiet man, he didn't understand my world of school activities. From age 14, he worked. And his dad, Albert, took the money my dad earned and used it to pay family expenses.I didn't really understand his world either: He was a livestock trucker, and l thought that I would surpass(超过)anything he had accomplished by the time l walked across the stage at high school graduation.Summers in the mid, 70s were spent at home shooting baskets, hitting a baseball, or throwing a football, preparing for my future as a quarterback on a football team. In poor weather, I read about sports or practiced my trombone(长号).The summer before my eighth grade I was one of a group of boys that a neighboring farmer hired to work in his field. He explained our basic task, the tractor fired up and we were off, riding down the field looking for weeds to spray with chemicals. After a short way, the farmer stopped and painted at a weed which we missed. Then we began again. This happened over and over, but we soon learned to identify different grasses like cockleburs,lamb's-quarters, foxtails, and the king of weeds, the pretty purple thistle. It was tiring work, but I looked forward to the pay, even though I wasn't sure how much it would amount to.At home, my dad said, "A job's a big step to growing up.I'm glad you will be contributing to the household."My dad's words made me realize that my earning might not be mine to do with as wished. My labors lasted about two weeks, and the farmer said there might be more work, but I wasn't interested. I decided it was not fair that l had to contribute my money.
Once in Arabia, there lived a Sheik. He and his wife lived in a village. As she had no child, the Sheik married another woman for a second time. By his second wife, he had a son. He loved his son very much and he grew up happily as a handsome young man. However, the man's first wife hated the second wife and her son, so she began to plot against(密谋杀害) them. For years, she kept waiting for a chance to murder them with her magical power. One day the Sheik had to go out on a journey. He said to his son that he would return home before Bakrid and celebrated the festival. Now came the perfect chance long waited by the first wife. When the man was away, she used her magical power and changed the second wife and son as goats. When Bakrid was approaching, the man returned home, only to find his first wife in the house. He asked her where his son and his second wife were. The first wife lied that his second wife died in some unknown disease and that her son ran away from home and didn't come again. On hearing this, the man became sad but comforted himself that it was God's will.On the day of Bakrid, the Sheik asked his first wife to bring a goat for sacrifice. His first wife brought the second wife who had been changed into a goat. When it came near the man, it started to brush his hand with its tongue. He took pity on the goat and asked his first wife to bring another. So she brought the son goat. It also come near the Sheik and started to rub his leg with its head. Again, the man took pity on the goat. He said, "The two goats do like men. So I can't kill these two. " Then the first wife got angry and said, "If you refuse to kill all goats like this, we will not be able to sacrifice anything." Possible Version 1 Paragraph 1: Just then the butcher's wife, another woman with magical power, passed by. Glancing at these two goats, she instantly realized the woman's evil trick. She came up to the Sheik, explaining, "Actually, these two goats are your second wife and your son." Hearing the words, the man was startled and asked her if she could bring them back to him. The butcher's wife nodded, taking some water from her bottle and spraying it on the two goats. The next moment, they turned into his second wife and his son.Paragraph 2: So astonished was the man that he couldn't believe his eyes. "Dad! Dad!" the boy cried in a thrilledvoice, throwing himself at his father's hug. Three of them embraced each other tightly, tears streaming down. In the corner stood the first wife in a mixture of fright and annoyance. When she was about to run away, she was caught by the butcher's wife. Never had she predicted one day she would be changed into a silent fish. From then on, the man, his second wife and his lovable son lived a happy life in the village.Possible Version 2Paragraph 1: Just then the butcher's wife, another woman with magical power, passed by.The sight of the goats pacing around Sheik with care and love confused the butcher's wife, wondering why two goats acted like humans. With doubt in mind, she approached the two goats, hands gently on their heads to know what had happened. It dawned on her that the two goats were actually changed from humans through magicalpower. Having learnt the truth, the woman changed the two back to humans, making everyone present shocked, including Sheik.Paragraph 2: So astonished was the man that he couldn't believe his eyes. Never in his wildest dream had he thought they would reunite in this way. Tears of relief welling up in eyes, he hugged them tightly, asking what they had experienced. Eyes glued to the three, the first wife, with her hands clenched into tight fists, dashed to them in a flash, scolding and cursing. Sheik glared at her, realizing the truth and revealed her evil deeds on the spot. Furious but frightened by the roaring people around, the first wife fled away, leaving the family in the joyful celebration.例句学习1. the next moment 紧接着(尤指突然发生很大变化)The next moment there was an almighty crash接着发生了剧烈的撞击。
