Missed a family holiday this year? Your summer trip was cancelled. Now schools are back,

so you have one last chance for a rewarding trip – the autumn half term. Here are some good

choices for you.

Athens

The risk: The recovery of tourism in August may have seen a rise in Greece, but so far it

seems that it is the islands that have seen the biggest rise. A lot of Greek islands would be removed

from the green list as part of the Government’s new regional approach to quarantine (隔离).

The reward: What makes Athens particularly attractive in the coronavirus time is that life

is lived outdoors nearly year-round – from its historical sites

and

squares to its open-air

restaurants and cafés. Besides, the pocket-sized city centre is easily walkable, so public transport

can mostly be avoided.

Cyprus

The risk: Now, Cyprus is enjoying a fall – it is currently at 12 cases per 100,000 on a seven-day testing times. The risk is whether the island will continue to welcome us if our own rate

increases. The UK is in Cyprus’s “Category B” for these purposes: this means that tourists are

permitted to enter, but must provide a negative (阴性) Covid-19 test on arrival. The test must

have been less than 72 hours before travel. Children under 12 years old do not require a test.

The reward: Nowhere else can ensure a warmer autumn than in Cyprus, which still gets

nine hours of wonderful sunshine a day.
