Unit2 Last Weekend PB Let’s Learn
Topic
Talking about activities done last weekend using past tense.
Objectives
1. To enable students to understand and use past tense to talk about
activities done over the weekend.
2. To enhance students’ speaking and listening skills.
Materials
1. A worksheet containing pictures of weekend activities and spaces
for students to write sentences describing the activities.
2. A chart showing the past tense forms of the verbs used in the
lesson.
3. Audio materials containing conversations of people talking about
their weekend activities.
Procedure
Warm-Up (5 minutes)
1. Greet the class and ask them what they did over the weekend.
2. Ask some students to share their experiences and encourage them to
use the past tense.
Example: - Student 1: I played football with my friends. - Student 2:
I went to the park with my family.
Vocabulary (10 minutes)
1. Write the following verbs on the board: play, watch, cook, read,
swim, dance, and sing.
2. Ask students to identify the actions associated with each verb.
3. Present the past tense forms of the verbs: played, watched, cooked,
read, swam, danced, and sang.
4. Review the pronunciation of the past tense forms with the class. Listening (15 minutes)
1. Play an audio recording of people talking about their weekend
activities.
2. Ask students to listen carefully and identify the verbs used in
the conversations.
3. Have students write down the activities mentioned in the
conversations.
4. Play the audio once more to provide additional listening practice.
5. Ask some students to share their answers with the class.
Speaking (25 minutes)
1. Show the class a worksheet containing pictures of weekend
activities.
2. Have students write sentences describing the activities in each
picture using past tense.
3. Give feedback on the correct use of past tense.
Example: - Picture 1: I played basketball with my friends in the
park. - Picture 2: My mother cooked delicious food for us on Sunday. -
Picture 3: I watched a cartoon movie on Saturday evening.
Vocabulary and Grammar (15 minutes)
1. Distribute a chart showing the past tense forms of the verbs used
in the lesson.
2. Review the forms and usage of past tense with the class.
3. Provide additional examples and have students form sentences using
past tense with the verbs in the chart.
Consolidation (5 minutes)
1. Summarize the lesson by asking some students to share what they
learned.
2. Repeat the past tense forms of the verbs with the class.
