两分钟简短英语演讲 篇1

I can never forget the summer in 1996. I went through an

extremity of despair due to my failure in the National College

Entrance Examination. It seemed that my dream of being a

university student would never come true. One evening my father

came and told me the story of Steven Callahan, who was crossing

the Atlantic alone in his sailboat when it struck something and

sank. It was a miracle that he survived and was found 76 days

later(the longest anyone has survived a shipwreck on a life raft

alone). Later in his narrative he wrote these sentences “I tell

myself I can handle it .Compared to what others have been

through I’m fortunate”.

Hearing these sentences I felt something important struck

me. I belived my life would mot be that bad and it was proved to

be true. Later during my study in the university I always told

myself “I can handle it” when my own goals seemed far off or

when my problems seemed too overwhelming and every time I

said it ,I always came back to my senses.

, I will tell the same story of Callahan to them. I just want to

make them believe they can handle their difficulties because their

circumstances are only bad compared to something better. But

others have been through much worse. Then they will build up

fortitude.

So here, coming to us from the extreme edge of survival, are

words that can give us strength. Whatever you’re going through,

tell yourself you can handle it. Compared to what others have

been through, you’re fortunate. Tell this to yourself over and

over, and it will help you get through the rough spots with little more fortitude.

As two men were about to be sent into prison, the warden

let each of them make a demand. The American loved smoking,

so he wanted three boxes of cigars; while the Jew said all he

needed was a telephone to contact with people outside of the

prison. Two years later, the first out was the American who still

had many cigars in his hands and pockets but was crying: “Give

me some matches!” Then the Jew walked out, he shook hands

with the warden and said: “Thank you for the phone, it made

my business increase by 200%.”

What do you think of this story? Life today is what you’ve

decided years ago, and so is the future: your decisions today will

affect your destiny years later. Now I have two things to choose

from: to go abroad, to find myself a decent job after graduation

or to further my study as a postgraduate. I haven’t worked out

an answer to this question yet, but I know that whatever I do will

directly affect my future.

An Indian once said life is just like a game of cards, the cards

in your hand represent opportunities, while the way you play

decides the result you’ll get. Looking back in history, during

World War Ⅱ, Churchill who led the British people resolved to

expect “blood, toil, tears and sweat”. They won the victory then.

Today Shenzhou 5 took the first Chinese astronaut into space. I

am sure that later there’ll be more spacecrafts, like Shenzhou

6,7 and 8 ……

So what does the future look like? No one can tell. But I know

the choice is yours, the future is now. Make good use of everyday,

a man can achieve greater successes, a country can gain

prosperity and the whole world can be united, as it has never been before.

Hello, Dear teachers and fellow students. It is my honor to be

here on this beautiful Friday morning to share with you my view

on “Me- time”.

In my opinion, finding me-time is important. With the

development of the modern society, we students in China have

more and more pressure. We have to spare every minute to study

very hard and join various kinds of out-of-class training courses

to improve ourselves. So we are really in lack of me-time which is

helpful to keep ourselves from being over-stressed、tired and

worried.

I do not have as much fun as before and I always miss my

childhood. Three hours of homework and two piano lessons one

day make me have hardly any me-time to relax myself. I was once

an active basketball player on my school team. But now,

basketball, my best friend, I haven’t touched it for almost two

months. Me- time seems to have become a luxury.

Last week, when I heard there was going to be a basketball

match between our school and No 1 Middle School, I was so

excited that I rushed home and told my parents the news. I asked

my father, “ Dad, may I play basketball after school ? The coach

says I am the best guard in our school. If I join the school

basketball team, we are sure to beat No 1 Middle School this time.”

My father showed his dispproval and said, “ Of course you

can’t . I’m disappointed at you. Why do you have such a silly
