The Louvre (卢浮宫) first opened to the public in 1793 in Paris, France. The Louvre has some of the world’s greatest artwork, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa (达芬奇之画《蒙娜丽莎》). It is the largest national museum in France and one of the most visited museums in the world.

The Louvre has drawn a lot of attention recently. According to reports, the American fast-food chain McDonald’s is going to open a restaurant in the underground entrance to the Louvre in November. This is McDonald’s plan t o celebrate its 30th anniversary in France.

McDonald’s is happy to feed the hungry visitors, but others are unhappy about mixing important art and fast food. But t he Louvre thinks that McDonald’s fits right in with its international image. In a statement, the Louvre said it is glad that all its visitors, French or foreign, will be able to enjoy a rich selection (选择) of restaurants. The McDonald’s would represent the American corner of a new food court (餐饮区).

Peter Goddard, a Canadian writer thinks it is no t a bad idea to have McDonald’s at the Louvre.
