Abstract
Pride and prejudice is a very popular novel written by Jane
Austen and it is read widely all over the world. The novel
described four marriages about middle class in 18th century in
Britain and disclosed different ideas in front of different people.
It was written in 1813. That specific history time decided that
people at that time took money and social status much more
seriously, even on their marriage. In this paper, the marriage
cases of most characters in the book were taken to analyze how
money and social status influenced their matrimonial value
orientation. And it tells us a truth, love and marriage is closely
associated with property and society, but love and marriage can
not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal
marriage should be based on mutual affection and respect and
the marriage should be built on love.

the English women realistic novelists in the 19th century. Her greatness lies in her ability to stimulate readers to supply what is
not there and expand a trifle in our mind and endow with the
most enduring form of life scenes. Jane Austen wrote only six
complete novels. Pride and Prejudice is the most enduringly
popular novel written by her. It talks about trivial matters of love,
marriage and family life between country squires and fair ladies
in Britain in the 18th century. The plot is very simple, which tells
